Aliens keep taking Mort for unknown purposes. Determined to find out what's going on and why the aliens aren't after him, King Julien investigates, leaving Maurice behind to start a panic regarding an impending alien invasion.
Tropes:
- Animal Talk: Julien attempts to commune with the "aliens", but since they are actually human researchers, they don't understand a word he says, providing one of the few times in the franchise outside of the first Madagascar movie where we see the human perspective, showing that Julien isn't just making animal sounds but also acting far more feral than what we usually see.
- Calling the Old Man Out: Hector finds his mother Helen alive, who had decided to stay in captivity with the humans. Hector isn't amused.Hector: Seriously? This is where you've been for 20 years? You had a kid!Helen: Well, when you put like that, yeah, I guess you're right. I've been an awful mother, I'm so sorry Hector. Listen, I mean ...can we start over?Hector: That's the worst apology I've ever heard! You let your own kid think you were dead! I mean, who does that?!
- Didn't Think This Through: Paranoid that an alien invasion is coming, Maurice builds a bomb shelter for the kingdom, but stockpiles it up with so much food that there isn't room for anything else inside. Other valid concerns are raised as Maurice frantically eats his way inside, but he's too panicked to care.
- Freeze-Frame Bonus: Various bumper stickers can be seen inside the alien trailer, such as "My other lemur is a Ringtail", "Save the lemurs" and "Conservation!"
- Humanlike Animal Aging: Averted, Hector is said to be one of the oldest lemurs in the kingdom and his story implies he is in his 20s. Lemurs have been known to live to their 30s, so the fact that his mother is still alive is plausible, especially since she's been living in captivity.
- Humans Are Cthulhu: The humans are so incomprehensible to the animals, they are assumed to be aliens from another world. It doesn't help that they are only ever seen wearing full body bio-hazard suits.
- Leeroy Jenkins: When the crew finds the alien ship they start to devise a plan, but Hector just rushes in, "For mommy!"
- Missing Mom: Hector's mother was taken from him by the aliens, so he takes a personal interest in investigating them.
- Screams Like a Little Girl: Maurice does exactly this when he first see the "aliens" show up. Julien thought it was Clover.
