...and this time, she is not alone.
Old Ermanote  is a two-issue short story (plus a stinger from the first arc) who serves as both as Distant Finale and also the definitive ending of the whole Erma Felna EDF saga as a whole. The first issue was published in February 1994 and the final one in October 1994. The story is also one of the few Gallacci works completely done in color, along with the remake of the Battle of Derzon.

The story takes place in the year SD 231, 31 years from the events of the second arc (SD 201) and we see a very old and frail Erma Felna in her sixties waiting to be interviewed by a historian in a space station of the Chenta solar system, very far away from her native homeland of Dornthant along with her personal doctor, her cloned daughter Teka Ardehad (who later appeared in the second arc as a child and she appears here as an adult woman) and both Erma and Teka's respectives families. Erma tells the story about how she met Teka during an espionage mission in a distant planet during the last years of the Second Lepine War in the year SD 214 and the perils she had to endure during that mission.

The whole story ends with The Stinger from the first arc, starring Dr. Elaki Kalahahaii while running away from the EDF since they want her dead to keep her quiet about her discovering regarding the human derelict ship after the info regarding it was stolen right from her head by a Talent. She receives a message from the Enchawah family regarding a very shocking discovery inside the human spaceship...

The Distant Finale provides examples of the following:

  • Ambiguous Ending: The ending of the story (and by proxy, of the whole Erma Felna EDF saga) ends in a very confusing conclusion, since many questions regarding many aspects of the Albedo universe were left without a satisfactory answer. Even more egregious that nothing about the fate of Erma's family or anyone besides Erma and Teka themselves is explained.
  • Fully Absorbed Finale: A subversion: The whole story tried its best to give some kind of conclusion for the entire Erma's saga, but only for her and for Teka, without giving a further explanation what happened with the rest of the cast. This is because Gallacci wrote this after the ending of the first arc, and he thought it would be the definitive ending of the comic, without plans to continue it until 1996.
  • Identical Stranger: Teka, towards Erma. There's a good reason for it, as it turns out later she is Erma's clone at the end of the first issue.
  • Left Hanging: As explained above, there's lots of unexplained questions:
    • What happened with anything related with the Creators?
    • What happened with Erma's family?
    • And above all, What happened with everyone else besides Erma and Teka?
  • The Oldest Profession: In the SD 214 flashback, Erma has to sleep in a bunk normally used for prostitutes when traveling with a fake ID within the planet Denotah and she's mistaken by one by another hooker.
  • Starting a New Life: Erma began a new life in the Chenta system, with her cloned offspring, far away from Dornthant. (see below for the reasons)
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Erma in her older years is now a very grouchy and unpleasant woman, due to decades of almost endless pain and personal suffering.
  • Wretched Hive: The city of Vertana in the planet Denotah in the SD 214 flashback is basically an alien favela mixed with a concentration camp of sorts, full of undocumented workers and hookers everywhere. Ironically enough, the actual cells for prisoners are cleaner than the bunks used for regular housing.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: It's heavily implied Erma was unable to return to Dornthant, her home planet, due probably of the events regarding the ILR attack on the planet three decades ago, and it's very probable the EDF hasn't forgave her as a punishment, thanks to Tavas Ikalik and his cronies inside the EDF.
  • Zen Survivor: From all the named characters, the only named characters that appears here are the heroine Erma Felna and her cloned daughter Teka Ardehad. The whereabouts of everyone else, including Erma' best friend Toki, remains unanswered.

The Stinger provides examples of the following:

  • A Day in the Limelight: Dr. Elaki Kalahahaii is the star of this very short story.
  • Irony: Not only the EDF and Dr. Kalahahaii found an space ship with humans inside of it, the very same people who created them and confirming their theories regarding the Creators, they also found a book that deals about a human creating life via unorthodox methods.
  • Time Skip: Takes place a month after the attack on Dornthant, between the first and second arcs.
  • Wham Line: Dr. Kalahahaii is forced to run away from the EDF after the ILR stole the info regarding her discoveries of the human ship from her brain using a Talent spy and now the EDF is trying to silence her. The Enchawah family, the owners of Enchawah Corp. on the other hand, not only are trying to help her, but also managed to translate the book found in the human spaceship:
Lida Enchawah: Finally, we have a reasonable translation of the book you found. It appears to be some kind of fantastic fiction. You might want to read it: Frankenstein.
