Tougher than diamonds, rich like cream
Stronger and harder than a bad girl's dream.
Make a bad one good, make a wrong one right-
the power of love will keep you warm at night!
And it don't take money, don't take fame,
Don't need no credit card to ride this train.
It's strong and it's sudden, and it can be cruel sometimes,
But it just might save your life-
That's the power of love!
— Huey Lewis And The News, "The Power of Love"
The power of love,
A force from above,
Cleaning my soul
Flame on burn desire,
Love, with tongues of fire
Purge the soul
Make love your goal
— Frankie Goes to Hollywood, "The [other] Power of Love".
The sound of your heart beating
Made it clear suddenly.
The feeling that I can't go on is light-years away.
Cause I am your lady and you are my man....
We're heading for something
Somewhere I've never been
Sometimes I am frightened
But I'm ready to learn 'bout the power of love
— Jennifer Rush, "The [other other] Power of Love"
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."
— The Bible, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
"There are worlds beyond and worlds within which the explorer must explore, but there is one power which seems to transcend space and time, life and death. It is a deeply human power which holds us safe and together when all other forces combine to tear us apart. We call it the power of love."
— The Outer Limits, "The Borderland", closing narration
"Take a melody, simple as can be.
Give it some words and sweet harmony.
Raise your voices, all day long now, love grows strong now.
Sing a melody of love, oh love...
Love is the power!
Love is the glory!
Love is the beauty and the joy of spring.
Love is the magic!
Love is the story!
Love is the melody we all can sing."
— MOTHER 1, The Eight Melodies
"All things must die, Shandala. We cannot change this. But you can bring the heavens to your heart in life. Give yourself to those that need. If you do this, then the world is truly blessed... for it has known your love."
— Mama Tui, Broken Saints Chapter 16, Act 2
The Operative: He spent his entire fortune developing the contracts to infiltrate this place.
Doctor Mathias: Gave up a brilliant future in medicine as well. That's madness.
The Operative: Madness? Look at his face, doctor. It's love, in point of fact, something a great deal more dangerous.
Mal: You know what the first rule of flying is?...'Course you do, as you already know what I'm about to say.
River: I do. But I like hearing you say it anyways.
Mal: ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down, tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.
"Love is a very powerful force, even more so when it's focused into a coherent beam of destruction."
— Black Mage, 8-Bit Theater
With our love, with our love
We could save the world, if they only knew'
— The Beatles, "Within You Without You"
"Declaration: You can not mock love, for it was love that created you."
— Red Tornado to his son, Tornado Champion, Batman: The Brave and the Bold
Well, you took me in, you stole my heart,
I cannot roam no more.
Because love, it stays within you,
It does not wash up on a shore.
But a fighting man forgets each cut
Each knock, each bruise, each fall,
But a fighting man cannot forget
Why his love don't roam no more.
Oh, reel me in, my precious girl,
Come on, take me home.
'Cause my body's tired of travelling
And my heart don't wish to roam.
— "Love Don't Roam", Doctor Who
Azula: I never expected this from you! The thing I don't understand is why? Why would you do it? You know the consequences...
Mai: I guess you don't know people as well as you think you do. You miscalculated. I love Zuko more than I fear you.
"Ye shouldna' be too surprised, lad. I told ye when ye love someone deeply anythin' is possible. Even miracles."
— Mr. Lundie, Brigadoon (closing line)
Exedore: The danger of contact with the micronians is evident. Our soldiers may be in more jeopardy than we believed.
Lord Britai: It appears that this "love" business is a very powerful thing.
Exedore: I'm afraid I agree with you sir, it does have its attraction. It's an emotional factor against which we Zentradi have no defense. So this "love" could be used as a powerful weapon against us.
Lord Britai: Weapon, eh?
— Robotech, episode "Wedding Bells"
And in the end
The love you take
Is equal to
The love you make.
— The Beatles, "The End"
Gaap: Ahhahahahahahahahahaha...!! The strength of love? Then why are you so weak, boy? Does that weakness mean your love is also that weak? * giggle* giggle* ! Even your love for your fiance is weak. The way your parents died so quickly was weak. Everything about your life is weak.
George: ...Shannon taught me about love and strength. If you are trying to measure my love towards Shannon by my strength alone, ...let me teach you about my love.
— Umineko no Naku Koro ni (game), Episode 4
"So many terrible things are done for love," Mabís voice said. "For love will men mutilate themselves and murder rivals. For love will even a peaceful man go to war. For love, man will destroy himself, and that right willingly."

"How did you get here?"
The world's about to burn [if you don't]; for God's sake, kiss the girl!
— The Doctor, Doctor Who, "The Lodger"
"According to my research, about 70% of a hero's power comes from absorbing this strange energy called 'love'."
— Mao, Disgaea 3
When in disgrace with Fortune and men's eyes,
I all alone beweep my outcast state,
And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries,
And look upon myself and curse my fate,
Wishing me like to one more rich in hope,
Featured like him, like him with friends possess'd,
Desiring this man's art, and that man's scope,
With what I most enjoy contented least.
Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising,
Haply I think on thee, and then my state,
Like to the lark at break of day arising
From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven's gate;
For thy sweet love remembered such wealth brings
That then I scorn to change my state with kings.
The dark is generous, and it is patient, and it always wins - but in the heart of its strength lies weakness: one lone candle is enough to hold it back.
Love is more than a candle.
Love can ignite the stars.

There's nothing you can make that can't be made.
No one you can save that can't be saved.
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you in time.
All you need is love.
— The Beatles, All You Need is Love
"There are two doors. The door to your right leads to the Source and the salvation of Zion. The door leads back to the Matrix, back to her and the end of your species. As you adequately put, the problem is choice but we already know what you're going to do, don't we? Already I can see the chain reaction, the chemical precursors that signal the onset of an emotion designed designed specifically to overwhelm logic and reason. An emotion blinding you to the simple and obvious truth: she is going to die and there is nothing you can do to stop it."
— The Architect, The Matrix Reloaded
"Your mother died to save you. If there is one thing Voldemort cannot understand, it is love. He didn't realize that love as powerful as your mother's for you leaves its own mark. Not a scar, no visible sign ... to have been loved so deeply, even though the person who loved us is gone, will give us some protection forever."
— Dumbledore, Harry Potter
"One thing I've learned is that love is the strongest power in the universe. It's stronger than evil. It's even stronger than death. My feelings for you were the only thing that kept me going down there in Tartarus. It was like I was carrying my own Elysian Field inside of me."
— Marcus, Xena: Warrior Princess
This is going to be seriously TL;DR so you guys were warned. Guy in the TV series is a walking corpse. He died during the EI-01 incident. He was brought back by his father through the power of SCIENCE! but it wasn't really a true resurrection. Most of his body is gone. A head, a face, a few vital organs, the rest is cold metal. And he knows it. His old life is gone, the only thing he has left is the protection of the living. But the problem is those Guy left behind. Mikoto sees her old love right there, and wants to be taken into his arms, but he can't. He's not a living human anymore. He's dead. Mikoto should give up on him, move on, find someone living. Guy cares for her, and protects her, but he can't love her. Not any more. So Mikoto pines for a dead man, like a widow who can't accept her loss.
In the meantime, Guy fights to protect the living, being the most alive when in the heat of battle. But even then, there is the irony, the reminder of the inhuman thing he has become. His opponents are cyborgs, ordinary humans turned into the mechanical Zonders. And so even as he fights them, he fights FOR them. His victory will return them to normal. However, he himself can never be returned to his normal life. No amount of G-Stone energy, not even Mamoru's powers can restore him. So he fights, always for others, never for himself. Always denying his true desires, for they are the lost wishes of a dead man.
Eventually he triumphs, first against EI-01, then the ancient frighting Primevals themselves. His cyborg shell bruised, battered, and the giant machine that is his second body is at the brink of ruin. His loyal AI companions are in the same state of disrepair. They have their victory, but it was hard fought.
And then, in the calm after the storm, they discover it was merely the eye of the storm. The Zonders live. Mikoto has become the enemy. The seed in her body has awakened, and she has become the next generation of the primevals legacy. This new entity is immune G-Stone energy. The old weakness no longer works, Mamoru's magic can't restore her. And so, once more, Guy goes into battle, this time against the remains of the woman who loved him, she too is now a mechanical corpse that can no longer be human.
His friends, the Braves, lend their AI to the failing GaoMachines, and they go into the fray. The Zonuda is frightening. It assimilates all that it touches. All of GGG's trumpcards are useless. So they are discarded, and GGG fights with tooth and claw. So Guy shreds the Zonuda down, till only the core remains. Mamoru is unconscious, but it does not matter. His powers are useless, this thing was created to evolve beyond the ability of the ultimate anti-Zonder weapon.
The core, the last remnants of Mikoto's consciousness, pleads, "kill me, Guy." It is the only way. Mikoto can't be saved, she can only be destroyed. To save the city, the world, and the galaxy itself, she must die. Guy has fought this entire time only for others, he just needs to make one last sacrifice for the sake of the world.
He doesn't. He embraces his love. He accepts her love and gives his in return. And then instead of his trademark shouts, he answers with a whisper; "If you die, I die with you". He accepts his own death finally, but only if it with the woman he loves. He finally has the courage to confess, to accept his own love, the love he denied so long. That was his greatest moment of courage. And in the presence of an artifact that changes courage into miracles, it's enough. His love, his greatest courage does the impossible. He and Mikoto can never be human again, so they are transfigured into beings greater than human. Evoluders. His flesh is restored, and can finally hold Mikoto in his arms once more. That was the miracle brought by courage.
I once thought it didn't matter if the night wouldn't end
I once thought it didn't matter if I would never wake up again.
But the instant you held me into your chest,
Your heartbeat thawed my heart.
HOLD ON! I won't waver anymore
YOUR LOVE! I will walk forward,
Starting from the place we first met.
—->Marlene, Hold On (Theme Song of Yarudora series vol.3: Sampaguita)
"A hero isn't measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart."
We know that we have passed from death to life
because we love our brothers.
Whoever does not love remains in death.
Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer,
and you know that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him.
1 John 3:14-15
Loki: Oh, ugh. Is love really going to save us all?
America: Of course it is. Anyone who thinks otherwise gets stomped into paste.
Young Avengers vol.2 #13
Merlin: Ay, you know, lad, that love business is a powerful thing.
Wart: Greater than gravity?
Merlin: Well yes, boy. In its way, I'd...uh...Yes, I'd say it's the greatest force on Earth.
There comes a time
When you face the toughest of fights
Searching for a sign
Lost in the darkest of nights
The wind blows so cold
And you're standing alone
Before the battle's begun
But deep in your soul
The future unfolds
As bright as the rays of the sun
You've got to believe in the power of love
You've got to believe in The Power of Love
It gives meaning to each moment
It's what our hearts are all made of
You've got to believe in The Power of Love
In The Power of Love
—>Sailor Moon (The Nineties English dub soundtrack), the other, other "Power of Love"
Captain America: Going... to put you down...
Carnage: This isn't like last time, when you and your @$%# friends "put me down" with the power of love or whatever the Hell happened. It's all hatred and darkness in Doverton. For instance, last night, I made a mother and her children promise to kill their father. There is no love here. Pray to God I don't make you help.
I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore.
Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more.
But the Master of the Sea heard my despairing cry.
From the waters lifted me, now safe am I.
Love Lifted Me.
Love Lifted Me.
When nothing else could help,
Love Lifted Me.
—"Love Lifted Me", traditional Christian Hymn
