    Fan Works
"Surely you must know how fascinated humans are by the idea of the end of the world. They’re just begging for it to come, Lyra. I’m only doing what humans have been looking forward to for years now."
Discord, Anthropology, Chapter 30

"No one can accurately predict when the end of the world will come. Many, many people in the past have tried, but they have all failed. Take Nostradamus, for example. He made many predictions for the end of the world and other disastrous events, but they never came true, despite what some people say. There is absolutely no way to accurately predict the end of the world or any type of catastrophe because it will never, ever be right, Eddy."

"I resigned my commission the day the super-crooks leveled the White House and killed the president." She told them. "That's when I decided that conventional Police tactics would not work against these super powered villains." She went on to describe the battles between the armed forces of various countries against legions of super-crooks. Sometimes the armies would emerge victorious. More often than not, however, they were slaughtered to the last man.
"Of course the super-crooks weren't alone." She shook her head. "Sometimes they fought alongside mega machines from god only know where. At other times, locals would suffer when gangs of crooks and machines and star-people battled it out." She laid her hands on the table, clenched together so hard the whites of her knuckles showed. "And let's not forget the animals. It's like the whole world has gone mad. Dinosaurs... real live dinosaurs. And creatures that no human should ever have to see. Animals mutated beyond recognition."

    Film
"Earth and sky shall surely quake, when the dead themselves awake, answers to the Lord to take. When the court is held in sway, hiding shall no longer pay, all must out on Judgement Day!"
Funeral Choir, Faust

"5 billion people will die from a deadly virus in 1997... The survivors will abandon the surface of the planet... Once again the animals will rule the world..."
James Cole, 12 Monkeys

"There were more than a dozen extinction-level events before even the dinosaurs got theirs. When the Earth starts to settle, God throws a stone at it. And, believe me, he's winding up."

Dr. Peter Venkman: This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.
Mayor: What do you mean, "biblical"?
Dr. Raymond Stantz: What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath of God type stuff.
Venkman: Exactly.
Ray: Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling!
Dr. Egon Spengler: Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes...
Winston Zeddemore: The dead rising from the grave!
Venkman: Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... Mass hysteria!

Janai: Is this it?… Is this the rapture?
Riley: You mean like, the apocalypse?
Bokeh

    Literature

"Apocalypse is a frame of mind. A belief. A surrender to inevitability. It is a despair for the future. It is the death of hope."

"I think you are one of the only Lyctors who can really and truly understand apocalypse... It is not a death of fire. It's not showy. You and I would almost prefer the end, if it came as a supernova. It is the inexorable setting of the sun, without another hope of morning."

The Way itself was trembling, and he tried to step beyond the world, but found he couldn't. It was as though there was nothing beyond Cradle at all.
His oracle codex screamed, the surface of the glossy black orb flickering with texts, and he seized it in one hand.
"What is happening?" he demanded.
The codex was incoherent. It repeated only one phrase, over and over:
[A destroyer has come.]
Cradle Series, book 10: Reaper

”Perhaps in the world's destruction it would be possible at last to see how it was made. Oceans, mountains. The ponderous counterspectacle of things ceasing to be. The sweeping waste, hydroptic and coldly secular. The silence.”

    Live-Action TV
Giles: It's the end of the world. Everyone dies. It's rather important, really.
Willow: So what do we do?
Buffy: I stop it.

"You lot, you spend all your time thinking about dying, like you're gonna get killed by eggs, or beef, or global warming, or asteroids. But you never take time to imagine the impossible. That perhaps you make it. Maybe you survive. This is the year 5.5/apple/26, five billion years in your future, and this is the day... Hold on... This is the day the sun expands. Welcome to the end of the world!"
The Doctor, Doctor Who, "The End of the World"

"So! Earthlings! Basically...um...end of the world. HERE. COME. THE DRUMS!"

"And so it came to pass that the players took their final places, making ready the events that were to come. The madman sat in his empire of dust and ashes, little knowing of the glory he would achieve, while his saviour looked upon the wilderness, in the hope of changing his inevitable fate. Far away, the idiots and fools dreamt of a shining new future — a future now doomed to never happen. As Earth rolled onwards into night, the people of that world did sleep and shiver, somehow knowing that dawn would bring only one thing — the final day."
Rassilon, Doctor Who, "The End of Time"

"The end of the world approaches! Armageddon is nigh! All will be darkness and screaming! No one will escape the suffering!! ...but it could be fun though."
Marwan the Mystic, Studio C, "An Unfortunate Fortune"

"Fine. That's the way you want it? Story's over. Welcome to the end."
God/Chuck Shurley, Supernatural, "Moriah"

    Music
"I hear hurricanes a-blowing
I know the end is coming soon
I fear rivers over flowing
I hear the voice of rage and ruin"

"Everywhere the atom bombs are dropping
It's the end of all humanity
No more time for last minute shopping
It's time to face your final destiny"

"Turn around go back down
Back the way you came
And shout a warning to the nations
That the sword of God is raised
On Babylon that mighty city
Rich in treasure, wide in fame
It shall cause our tower to fall
And make it be a pyre of flame
Oh, God, the pride of man
Broken in the dust again"
Hamilton Camp, "Pride of Man"

"Heard the world is ending soon I assumed that they told ya
They tryna dinosaur us, so now it's time to go up"
Gorillaz, "Ascension"

Every Garou who will fight in the Last Battle has already been born. The Eye of the Wyrm has opened. The Seventh Sign of the Prophecy of the Phoenix is about to be seen. The champions have been chosen, and the battle lines have been drawn.
The Apocalypse has arrived.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Apocalypse

The arrival of Ascension is a promise kept, a long-term loan coming due. It would be pretty cheap to keep the shadow looming on the horizon, but ever receding the closer we get to it. Instead of chasing shadows forever, mages must now confront them and win their way to the light. Making Ascension real is the big payoff for years of magic - it's the ultimate act of willworking, to bring one's very vision of the End to fruition. But who's doing the willworking here? Is this something wrought by the Traditions' years of struggle, or the endgame of the Technocracy's bid for control? Is it the result of Marauder madness or Nephandi taint? Or is the universe itself finally playing its hand, proving once and for all that cosmological constant can't be ignored, no matter how much magic is used to gloss over it?
So, the time is nigh. Lay down your cards and reveal your hand. Make your last orders - the bar's shutting down, the establishment is closing. Time to go home.

"For Sunohara to have such a cute sister, and for Okazaki to have such a cute girlfriend... If it were the end of the world, it'd be bad for the sister and Furukawa-san, but... I'll say it. It's the end of the world."
Misae, CLANNAD

    Webcomics
Polo: Feather Face! If you do not charm that girl pigeon with the power of dance, the world... could be DESTROYED!
City Face: Oh nooo! Not the world! That would be just super awful for EVERYBODY!

    Web Original
There's never gonna be an end of the world. There's gonna be an end of you, you personally; but the world won't even flinch. You'll be lucky to get an obituary, a half inch next to the weather report on the back page of Section B. The world is never gonna end. That's what's depressing.

Eddy: Rise and shine! Get your Ed Flakes Cereal here!
Edd: Eddy, it's the apocalypse!
Eddy: What, again?!
Edd: Don't look now.
Mario Head: Remember me?
[the Eds scream in response]
Candace Opens an Interdimensional Portal, MoBrosStudios

"Ruling out the ice capes melting, meteors becoming crashed-into-us, the ozone layer leaving, and the sun exploding... we're definitely going to blow ourselves up."

    Western Animation
""Oh, the world will still be here, Belmont. Trees will still grow, birds will still sing, animals will still hump away in the undergrowth. But you won't be here. And you won't be here. None of you. The sun will set, but you will not see it rise. There will only be Dracula, and his War Council, and the hordes of the night. He writes in great books, you know. He hews the covers himself from oak and wraps them in the preserved skin of the people who he hated most. And he writes plans; I've seen them. Ideas for darkening clouds and making them as permanent in the air as the frost of the North. Great strange flying machines, that pull shrouds across the sky to block out the sun. Imagine it. A world without humans, under endless invented night. And Dracula in his castle... his revenge so horribly complete, that there is nothing left to do but look out over a world without art or memory or laughter, and know that he did his work well. That he did it all for love.""
Master Fung: It has begun, 1,000 years of darkness.
Kimiko: Why 1,000?
Master Fung: Well, it is really 962 years, but 1,000 sounds more ominous.

"Current status — the word is cuckoo bananas. Zombies and giganto-monsters have taken over my town and also maybe the world. You probably know what zombies are, but just in case… spooky eyes, freaky moans, and if they bite you, you’re one of them, undead. But if monsters get you, you’re just dead. Finito. Done-zo."
Jack Sullivan, The Last Kids on Earth
