"And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword. And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth."
Revelation 6:1-8note

"And when the Lamb opened the first seal
I saw, I saw the first horse
The horseman held a bow
And when the Lamb opened the second seal
I saw, I saw the second horse
The horseman held a sword

The leading horse is white, the second horse is red
The third one is a black, the last one is a green
The leading horse is white, the second horse is red
The third one is a black, the last one is a green

And when the Lamb opened the third seal
I saw, I saw the third horse
The horseman had a balance
Now when the Lamb opened the fourth seal
I saw, I saw the fourth horse
The horseman was the pest

The leading horse is white, the second horse is red
The third one is a black, the last one is a green
The leading horse is white, the second horse is red
The third one is a black, the last one is a green
The leading horse is white, the second horse is red
The third one is a black, the last one is a green
The leading horse is white, the second horse is red
The third one is a black, the last one is a green"
Aphrodite's Child, "The Four Horsemen"

"The Horsemen are drawing nearer
On the leather steeds they ride
They have come to take your life
On through the dead of night
With the four Horsemen ride
Or choose your fate and die

Time
Has taken it's toll on you
The lines that crack your face
Famine
Your body it has torn through
Withered in every place
Pestilence
For what you have had to endure
And what you have put others through
Death
Deliverance for you for sure
There is nothing you can do"

"Why did the Creator construct a universe teeming with... imperfection? Misery? Sin? Among the scholars of both Heaven and Hell, this query is known as the Riddle of Sorrows... "If sin is itself a part of the Grand Design... is not sin then, by definition, divine?" A question for the sages, though one particularly restless bunch kept a robust relationship on the topic... The Nephilim.
Spawn of Angels and Demons. Warriors. Relentless. Unstoppable. Blood mad... until they were betrayed by four of their own.
War, Death, Fury, and Strife. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Inconvievable power was bestowed upon the traitors by those sworn to maintain symmetry twixt order of chaos? The Charred Council. Bear witness as the council holds court to end the Nephilim War in the name of "balance". This is the New Pact.
War. Bringer of worldwide fire. You are the juggernaut of all pain.
Death. Dark soul of eternity. You are the deepest decay. You are anti-life.
Strife. Endless spirit of timeless unrest. You are all that is unsettled in the hearts of that which lives and breathes.
And finally... Fury. Terrible engine of rage. You are the machine that-"

Fury: Are we to waste our time on ceremony, or are we to fight?!

Auditor: And now you must all go and bring terror and destruction and so on and so forth. Correct?
Death: Exactly. Only, while it is true we have to ride out, it doesn't say anywhere against whom.
Auditor: Your meaning?
War: He means that he asked us all to think about whose side we're really on.
[Four swords were drawn, blazing along their edges like flame. Four horses charged.]
