     Quotes about Fanfiction
Fandom, after all, is born of a balance between fascination and frustration: if media content didn't fascinate us, there would be no desire to engage with it; but if it didn't frustrate us on some level, there would be no drive to rewrite or remake it.
Henry Jenkins, "Convergence Culture: Where Old and New Media Collide"

"This is the internet. There are literally hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people, writing ... fanfics. Chances are that at least one of those hundreds of thousands or millions of people is not only writing a ... fanfic with an extremely similar plot to yours, but unless you have evidence that proves otherwise there is a very good chance that this person is doing a better job of it than you are."
Thesis' Original Trainer Fic Guide, Poke-Community forums

"If we as a culture have gotten to the point where the average citizen seriously values the right of Avi Arad (Marvel CEO) to buy himself a bigger jet over the right of creative kids to express themselves, then we, as a culture, are really dumb."
— "ScottH", 4/25/2006, Fanfic discussion thread on neilsenhayden.com

"The next worst word you can couple with the word 'fan' is, you guessed it, the word 'fiction'..."
Strong Bad, Homestar Runner "fan club"

"I have looked terror square in its single, milky eye...There was "fan fiction"!"
Shelley Winters meets her fanclub in Scary Go Round.

"Fan fiction is a way of the culture repairing the damage done in a system where contemporary myths are owned by corporations instead of by the folk."
— Henry Jenkins, author of Textual Poachers.

"[Fanfiction writers] are fans, but they’re not silent, couchbound consumers of media. The culture talks to them, and they talk back to the culture in its own language."

Craig Ferguson :You know what fanfiction is ?
Tom Hanks :Yeah, yeah yeah, it's goofy stuff like Spock and Kirk fall in love, that kind of thing.
The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, 10/29/2012, in a conversation about, among others things, Fifty Shades of Grey

I've seen some RWBY OCs that follow the first rule, but don't know about the second. I'm putting this out so you don't invest in something that isn't accurate to the rule. And I like that you think about these things because I was the same one day, watching someone else's work, dreaming up my own.
Monty Oum, in his guide to naming OCs Context

     Quotes from Fanfiction
“We’re not monsters.” Vaughan spoke directly at the head doctor. “We weren’t prepared for this. If we were… we would’ve done things differently. But we weren’t, so we’re just… trying to survive the best we can. That’s why we do awful things sometimes… not because we don’t care. We just want to live and… we want to protect the only people we have left. We do bad things but... it’s not our fault. None of this was supposed to happen.”

"No puede existir la paz sin haber luchado por ella, no puede existir la gloria sin realizar sacrificios". Translation

“Oh Draco, Draco!” I screamed while getting an orgasm when all of a sudden I saw a tattoo I had never seen before on Draco’s arm. It was a black heart with an arrow through it. On it in bloody gothic writing were the words... Vampire!

“People love a feel-good story of someone who goes through a traumatic event and comes out strong and determined on the other side; it’s life-affirming and reassures everyone that things are okay,” the woman pressed on. “People don’t like to think about a victim's anger. It makes them uncomfortable when human beings react to horror like human beings. They shame the victim for being upset or anything less than phoenix-like. They want to feel that justice has been done and forgiveness meted out to all parties so they can feel better about themselves. It brings on a creeping suspicion that if forgiveness won't be granted to others, maybe it won’t be granted to them. If justice is not done, perhaps they truly live in an unjust world. They don’t like to think about pain because it reminds them of their own. But pain is something you can never escape, can you?”

Dash’s eyes widened, and her face contorted in fear. Then she started to laugh and said, in a voice bordering on hysteria, “Woo, you really got me there, Pinkie Pie. I mean, tricking me into thinking I’m gonna get made into a cupcake? I gotta tell you, this the best prank yet. You win, you’re the best.”
