Basic Trope: A character points out when another character favours an answer.

  • Straight: Alice says to Bob, "How do we get rid of this old, abandoned car?". Bob, who is fond of Stuff Blowing Up, says, "We blow it up!", to which Alice says, "That's your answer to everything".
  • Exaggerated: Bob really does always suggest something get blown up whenever he's involved.
  • Downplayed: Alice says, "That's your standard answer when you have nothing else to think of".
  • Justified: Either Bob really does shoehorn a suggestion about Stuff Blowing Up into everything or Alice exaggerates a lot.
  • Inverted: Alice wants to blow up the car and Bob tells her not to, to which Alice says, "What? You never say that"
  • Subverted: "That's your answer to—-" and then she's interrupted.
  • Double Subverted: She finishes saying, "everything" after the interrupter finishes.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zigzagged: "That's your answer to everything...well, not everything...but most things...or at least a lot of things"
  • Averted: Alice never says that something is someone's answer to everything.
  • Enforced: ???
  • Lampshaded: After Alice says the line, Bob replies, "Well, that line is always your answer to my admittedly standard answer!"
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: Bob makes sure his answers are not redundant.
  • Discussed: "Is it true that that's my answer to everything?"
  • Conversed: "Alice needs a new Stock Phrase before she too becomes redundant."
  • Played for Laughs: Alice suggests what to do with the car to her cat, who replies "meow", upon which Alice answers with the phrase.
