Playing With / Where Da White Women At?

Basic Trope: A couple consisting of a black man and a white woman is seen as controversial and/or one of the lovers expresses an extra attraction to their partner's skin tone.
  • Straight: Bob is black and happens to be dating Alice who is white. He feels more attracted to her because of her pale skin.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Bob only dates white women.
    • Bob considers albino women to be epitome of physical beauty.
  • Downplayed:
    • Bob likes white women aesthetically, and has certainly dated a few, but he still finds black women attractive.
    • Bob is a dark-skinned black man that is attracted to light-skinned black women.
  • Justified:
    • Bob has low self-esteem issues about being black, and as a result only finds white women attractive.
    • Bob has been living for years in a town where everyone else is white.
  • Inverted:
  • Subverted:
    • Bob dates a white woman that he is very attracted to, then goes back to dating black women.
    • Alice isn't white. She's an albino black woman.
  • Double Subverted:
    • ...But all the black women he dates are the "pass for white" type.
    • Alice isn't, they just say that to avoid the discrimination that comes with interracial dating.
    • Alice may be technically a black woman, but Bob likes her unusually pale skin.
  • Parodied: Bob goes out of his way to date white women even when black women are throwing themselves at him.
  • Zig Zagged: Bob dates a white woman, then breaks up and dates a black woman...who could pass for white. After that's done, he dates a Jewish Mexican...guy.
  • Averted:
    • Bob and Alice are both black. Or both white. In short, Like Goes with Like.
    • Bob and Alice are both Ambiguously Brown and their ethnicities are never revealed.
    • Bob and Alice are neither white nor black.
  • Enforced:
  • Lampshaded: "Why do they only go after the white women?"
  • Invoked: Alice specifically looks for a black guy, being bored with white guys.
  • Exploited: Jeff is a voyeur with an interracial fetish, and tries to get Bob and Alice together so he can surreptitiously watch.
  • Defied: "Nope. Not gonna date a white girl. For all I know, her daddy's a Klansman."
  • Discussed: "Hey Bob? How come I always see you with white girls?" "How come I see you in trees with binoculars?"
  • Conversed: "Why is Bob always dating white chicks?" "Well, either they wanted to portray a realistic drama of interracial relations, or they only wanted to hire enough minorities to satisfy quotas."
  • Implied: Bob is seen looking suggestively at white women several times.
  • Deconstructed: Alice's dad is a huge racist. He doesn't like the idea of his daughter dating a black man, and immediately assumes Bob is a rapist-murderer. The conflict eventually culminates with Bob dead and Alice's dad in prison.
  • Reconstructed: As above, but Bob and Alice stand together and give Alice's dad a "The Reason You Suck" Speech that doesn't necessarily change his view outright, but makes him realize that they do actually love and care for each other. He says he'll still kill Bob if he knocks her up, and everybody laughs.
  • Played For Drama:
    • Bob and Alice are star-crossed lovers.
    • Bob, Alice or both are victims of anti-miscegenation militants.
