Basic Trope: Vampires have a lot of money.

  • Straight: Alice the vampire has enough money to live in a massive mansion, have several dozen servants, and wear the finest clothes and jewelry.
  • Exaggerated: Alice has enough money to own an island the size of Florida and ensure that she and all its thousands of residents live like kings every day.
  • Downplayed: Alice can afford to buy a decent house and car without using a loan, but she still wouldn't be considered very wealthy by Western standards.
  • Justified: Alice has lived for centuries, allowing her to amass tons of wealth. Plus, the fact that she has no descendants means that she gets to keep all of her money for herself.
  • Vampires are recruited into the military, where they quickly rise through the ranks due to their abilities and experience, and form a military aristocracy.
  • Inverted: Alice can barely afford to live in a small apartment and works at Burger Fool to make ends meet.
  • Subverted:
    • A fire breaks out in Alice's mansion, destroying all of her possessions and money and leaving her pennyless on the streets.
    • Alice is actually doing quite poorly due to clinging to long obsolete ideas about money and business models which do not work.
  • Double Subverted: She then manages to regain her wealth by running a successful casino.
  • Parodied: The only way to become a vampire is to become filthy rich and taking away a vampire's money defeats them.
  • Zig Zagged: Some vampires are super rich, others are dirt poor, but most fall somewhere in between.
  • Averted: Alice is neither rich nor poor, but perfectly in between these two extremes.
  • Enforced:
    • "Hhmmm...what would make our already sexy vampire character even more amazing?" "I know, let's make her stinking rich!"
    • The producers want to add social satire to a horror story.
  • Lampshaded: "Where do vampires get all that money, anyway?"
  • Invoked:
    • Alice purposefully chooses her victims based on how wealthy they are, so she can take their money and valuables when she's done feeding on them.
    • Since Alice has needs only shelter from the sun (maybe not) and blood, and is The Ageless, she decides to Take Over the World the Boring, but Practical way by saving up money, and buying every house she can so she can rent them, thus generating more money and self-feeding even more until she can afford her own MegaCorp and army of Private Military Contractors.
  • Exploited: Alice uses her wealth and prestige to lure in new victims and pay off any witnesses to her horrific actions.
  • Defied: Alice chooses to live poor so as not to attract attention to herself.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Played For Laughs: Alice is basically an Upper-Class Twit who drinks blood, spending money on ridiculous purchases.
  • Played For Drama: Alice uses her riches in order to distract herself from the loneliness of life as an immortal.
  • Implied:
    • We never get to know exactly how wealthy Alice actually is, but she never seems to have any problems with paying for things, even more expensive stuff like long vacations.
    • Alice is rich, unnaturally pale, and doesn't have a mirror in her whole mansion. She very well might be a vampire.
