Basic Trope: A character is distracted from their main objective upon realization of their own good looks.

  • Straight: Alice looks in the mirror for the first time and finds out she's beautiful.
  • Exaggerated: Alice is walking nude past a mirror and finds herself so beautiful she falls in love with her own reflection. Then, she decides to give herself some ... alone time.
  • Downplayed: Upon seeing herself in the mirror, Alice gives herself a low wolf whistle and a waggle of her eyebrows, before then going back to her usual activities.
  • Justified:
  • Inverted:
  • Parodied: Alice proceeds to spend a ludicrous amount of time in front of the mirror, posing and showing off to her own reflection. She's never heard of in the series again, implying she's still posing in front of the mirror.
  • Subverted:
    • Everyone tells Alice she's beautiful. When Alice looks in the mirror for the first time, she sees she's ugly and is grossed out...
    • Alice is being mind controlled by Bob, who is the one actually drooling over her.
  • Double Subverted:
  • Zig-Zagged:
    • Depending on the place and time, Alice will be in awe in front of, repelled by, or simply not care about her reflection.
    • Alice II is an Evil Knockoff of Alice that's become Yandere for her other self, and spend an inordinate amount of time staring at her own reflection as a substitute.
  • Averted:
    • No mirrors are featured in the show.
    • Alice doesn't feel any different from looking at her reflection.
  • Enforced: "Alice is our resident Ms. Fanservice, let's make her realize that."
  • Lampshaded: "Damn, I look sexy."
  • Invoked: Bob prompts Alice to look at herself in the mirror for a while to realize her beauty.
  • Exploited:
    • The long time spent staring at her reflection gave Alice some much needed self-confidence in her life.
    • Bob does one or more things he doesn't want Alice to know about while she's looking at herself.
  • Defied: No matter how hard someone tries, Alice categorically refuses to look at herself in the mirror.
  • Discussed: "Hey Alice, you should look in a mirror. You'll be very surprised..."
  • Conversed: "About time Alice realized how pretty she was!"
  • Implied: Alice walks in a room with a mirror. The scene cuts to when she exits said room, and there's a vivid blush on her face, with Alice giggling uncontrollably.
  • Deconstructed: This event turns Alice into a Narcissist (or more that she already was) who ends up seriously grinding her friends' gears by shoving her beauty in their face at any occasion.
  • Reconstructed: Someone calls her out over it, and Alice realizes her faults, apologizing to her friends and promising to stop flaunting about her beauty. While she's still aware she's beautiful, she understands rubbing it on people's faces all the time is not the way to go.
  • Plotted a Good Waste: Alice falls in love with her reflection. Then follows a story arc over Alice realizing she'll never get to date herself/her reflection since it is not a corporeal being and how to deal with these feelings which are realistically impossible to go through with.
