** After [[HeelFaceTurn Gajeel joins Fairy Tail]], Team Shadow Gear isn't too keen on the idea after [[KickTheDog Gajeel brutalized them]] the last time they met; Gajeel simply tells them to [[PleaseKillMeIfItSatisfiesYou beat him up until they're satisfied]]. When Laxus starts beating up Gajeel himself (not out of concern for Shadow Gear, mind you, but only because the act brought Fairy Tail bad rep) and [[EveryoneHasStandards Shadow Gear tells him to stop before he goes too far]], [[KnighTemplar Laxus]] attacks Shadow Gear while telling them to get out of the way. Gajeel then steps in and intercepts his attack, before asking everyone if they're satisfied and walking away.

** Earlier, in the Galuna Island Arc, [[TimeMaster Zalty]] [[spoiler: really Urtear in disguise]], repairs the village that had been wrecked earlier.

** Maria may have [[AWolfInSheepsClothing secretly become a serial killer out for revenge]], but she still has the heart to look out for those who can't look after themselves, such as Yajima and Atsuki. [[YouAreNotAlone She encourages Yajima]] to [[GrewASpine stand up to Kowase]] and helps Atsuki [[TheTeetotaler stay sober]]. [[BeingEvilSucks She's well aware]] this isn't enough to offset [[IAmAMonster her own sins]], however.

* In ''Manhua/GoddessCreationSystem'' Xiaxi recognizes that her behavior is rather cruel when viewed from outside, even if it's a matter of life or death for her. So she goes out of her way to do small acts of kindness that have no direct benefit to her like comforting a crying child by telling the story of the Ugly Duckling or [[spoiler:helping one of Mingyi's concubines escape by allowing herself to be whipped heavily.]]

* Alluded to in the ''Anime/DigimonAdventure02'' series, when the homicidal [=BlackWarGreymon=] takes a fondness for a flower and Tai's Agumon. He's not really evil, just suffering from a bad case of CloningBlues, and is destroying things to find a purpose for his synthetic life.

* Subverted by Precia Testarossa in ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanoha''. After many episodes of Fate insisting that [[EvilMatriarch her mother, Precia]], had a good side deep within her, we finally get to see Fate's precious memory of a kind Precia playing with a younger her. Then we get to the end of the episode, where Precia reveals in a thoroughly nasty way [[spoiler: that even when this moment ''truly'' happened... [[CloningBlues Fate is a clone]], [[FakeMemories said precious memory wasn't hers]] [[GeneticMemory but of her original, Precia's daughter Alicia]]]], oh, and that she had always hated [[LoveMartyr Fate]] for [[spoiler: not being a perfect ReplacementGoldfish of poor Alicia]] and would prefer it if she died, effectively turning her Pet the Dog moment into a MoralEventHorizon.

* In ''LightNovel/{{Durarara}}'', despite being a HUGE {{jerkass}}, Izaya only shows to care for [[spoiler: [[MoralityPet Shinra]] the most. This might have to do with something that [[NoodleIncident happened during middle school]] (which is implied to be Izaya stabbing Shinra who tried to befriend him during that time) and Izaya regretting what he did because the mention of what happens sends him into silence. In retrospect, Shinra is not really involved in any of his plans (might have to do because he’s TheMedic). Finally, during the Valentine’s extra in the novel, Shinra is depressed during Valentine’s Day because Celty wouldn’t want chocolate because she wouldn’t be able to eat it. Izaya comes over and [[ShipperonDeck convinces him to go out and buy chocolate for her because it was the thought that counted.]]]]

* For all his [[NoSocialSkills lack of social skills]] and obsession with wiping out all goblins from the world, ''LightNovel/GoblinSlayer'' is surprisingly capable of treating people with kindness every now and then.

* Kyon in ''[[LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya]]''. Generally said, his treatment of [[spoiler: Yuki Nagato]], going so far as to [[spoiler: threaten to use Haruhi to reconstruct the universe because of her.]] Given to that he previously was presented as an apathetic cynic, this is [[CharacterDevelopment a good way to go]].

* In Episode 6 of the animated adaptation of ''LightNovel/LoveChunibyoAndOtherDelusions'', as motivation to do better on her upcoming math exam, Rikka asks Yuuta to come up with a better (read: more fitting of her MsImagination status) e-mail address to replace her strangely bland existing one. After doing ... well enough, Yuuta comes up with one that Rikka adores; he presents it to her in [[OldShame Dark Flame]] [[MrImagination Master mode]], no less.

* ''LightNovel/{{Oreimo}}'': "You... you... bastard son! Do as you wish! I DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT IT!"

* In ''Manga/BlackClover'', after [[DarkHorseVictory Magna defeats Dante in a one-on-one]], Dante wakes up after everyone has left, [[BodyHorror his Body Magic going out of control]], and [[SoreLoser furiously refuses to accept that someone like Magna could defeat him]]. Then [[AxCrazy Jack]] returns to the room, having expected this, and puts Dante down [[RespectedByTheRespected so that he won't rain on Magna's parade]].

* [[MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate Doctor]] [[WhiteHairBlackHeart Jezebel]] [[MadScientist Disraeli]] of ''Manga/CountCain'' loathes all humans, especially his half-brother Cain, keeps a collection of eyeballs in jars (to which he hopes to add Cain's), as well as the preserved organs of his sisters and mother, and will take any excuse to cause some schmucks painful and gruesome deaths... but goodness gracious that man sure does love animals. He reacts with some horror at the suggestion of [[AnimalTesting performing experiments on animals]], protesting that [[TestedOnHumans he tests on humans instead]], and several times through the series is shown tenderly cradling small fluffy things. His {{Sidekick}} [[OlderThanTheyLook Cassian]] even points out that "[[NotGoodWithPeople humans]] are the only creatures this man can't love." FreudianExcuse is in full play here.

** After rescuing Noble Fencer and learning [[TotalPartyKill the fate of her party]], he allows her to join the mission to kill the [[ArcVillain Goblin Paladin]], even though the death of her former party can ostensibly be pinned on her [[DidntThinkThisThrough lack of foresight]]. When she kills a Goblin Shaman in a fit of PTSD-driven rage, Goblin Slayer ultimately [[ItCantBeHelped shrugs it off]] and doesn't chew her out for it. After the Shaman's death blows their cover and the party finds itself cornered, Noble Fencer blames herself for her earlier blunder; not only does Goblin Slayer reassure her, he swears that he will retrieve her stolen sword and kill not just every single goblin in the fortress, but ''all the goblins''. Finally, he has Noble Fencer cause an avalanche in order to wipe out the goblins after he kills the Goblin Paladin, which drags him as the rest of the party is shielded by [[BarrierMaiden Priestess]]; the first thing Goblin Slayer does after digging himself out of the snow is retrieve the sword's scabbard from the Goblin Paladin's corpse, before returning both items to her and fulfilling his promise. Noble Fencer [[TearsOfJoy breaks down in tears]] after this.

* For all his [[NoSocialSkills lack of social skills]] and obsession with wiping out all goblins from the world, ''LightNovel/GoblinSlayer'' is surprisingly capable of treating people with kindness every now and then. Even after the debacle in the Water Town sewers that nearly saw [[TotalPartyKill his entire party killed]], with Goblin Slayer himself barely holding together, his first and foremost concern is making sure his teammates are safe, even taking a moment to reassure a heavily injured [[MoralityPet Priestess]] that she was not to blame for the fight going south.

* ''Anime/TenchiMuyoGXP'': Over the years of trying to either steal away one of the main character's [[LoveInterest girls]], Seiryo Tennan gets a lot of [[LaserGuidedKarma well-deserved flak]], either physically or mentally. Despite this, he '''does''' have some redeeming points about him, even managing to knock-out the feared [[TheDreaded Tarant Shank]]... [[SetSwordsToStun with the unbelievably supposedly-unknown "backside"]] of '''[[LaserBlade a freakin' beam sword...!]]''' While his constant acts against the main characters do get annoying, he eventually [[HeelFaceTurn gets better]] by having his family host Seina's [[MarryThemAll "Political-based" wedding ceremony]], and he even manages to successfully win over Kyo Komachi's heart with an earnest gift on her actual birthday. Aww...

** Roy Mustang also has a moment in an episode of [[Anime/FullmetalAlchemist the 2003 anime]] in which he and Riza adopt Black Hayate. "Dog, huh? ...I ''LOVE'' dogs!" ([[SubvertedTrope Although, his motivation is that you can "treat them like a jerk and they'll still love you".]])
