* ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAuto'': Despite being set in one of cynical CrapsackWorld, there are still a couple of examples

** Dizzy. A sweet, kind, and innocent half-human[=/=]half-Gear who happens to be a FriendToAllLivingThings. Heck, she even serves a MoralityPet to several of the main characters such as Testament (who allowed him to regain some faith on humanity).

** ''VideoGame/{{Persona 3}}'':

** ''VideoGame/{{Persona 4}}'':

* There are bunch of this in ''Franchise/MetalGear'', to contrast the badass warriors you meet and play as. [[BreakTheCutie Bad things]] [[KillTheCutie tends to happen]] [[StartOfDarkness to them]], to show us that WarIsHell. For examples:

** [[GentleGiant Braum]] is so far the [[JustForPun champion]] of NiceGuy in Runeterra. Not only his quotes are all nice, friendly and encouraging even to his enemies, his play style revolves around defending his teammates and helping them out. His lore has zero tragic elements as well, he just happens to be that kind of nice goat herder with immense strength, determination to help people in need. [[MommasBoy And he quotes his mom's words very fondly.]]

* Agent Shade, who serves as MissionControl for the VideoGame/DetectivesUnited, is unfailingly polite and sweet, and repeatedly shows that she's genuinely concerned with the well-being of the three detectives.

** Dandelion could perhaps be the nicest character in the whole series. He's a complete NonActionGuy, but is also [[UndyingLoyalty loyal to a fault]] and has nothing but kindness and compassion for [[HeroWithBadPublicity witchers]], and doesn't hesitate in coming to their defense when they're being [[FantasticRacism treated like social pariahs]] by everyone else. It's to the point that [[KnightInSourArmor Zoltan]] mentions that he spent three days unable to sleep from the guilt of forgetting to pay for a bottle of wine for Dandelion.

* ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil2'' has Leon S. Kennedy; rookie cop, first day on the job, and is thrown into a ZombieApocalypse. He devotes his strength in getting Ben (a reporter) out to safety and making sure Ada is out of harm's way (even taking a bullet for her). This gets Leon viewed as naive and gullible by the other characters in the game; Ben thinks Leon is just a cop who doesn't know what's really going on (Ben gets killed later on) and Ada sees Leon as dead weight to her mission (at first). Even Claire tends to ignore Leon at times. Leon becomes a DeadpanSnarker by ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil4'', but never gives up in trying to help and protect others.

* ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog'':

* ''VideoGame/TheWalkingDead'':

* Many of the protagonists of the ''VideoGame/{{Yakuza}}'' series are this, while also highlighting how sometimes GoodIsNotSoft.
** Kazuma Kiryu, TheHero of the series, is an ex-yakuza who simply wants to live a quiet life with his adopted sons and daughters. If someone is in trouble, he'll jump at the chance to lend a hand, and maybe knock a few skulls or two on occasion. He is [[FriendToAllChildren especially nice to children]], and anyone threatening kids can expect to be picking their teeth up off the ground.
** In ''VideoGame/Yakuza0'', Goro Majima is shown to be this before SanitySlippage started taking a hold of him. While a gangster through-and-through, he also will lend a hand to those in need and throw down with punks and jerkasses to put them in their place. In later games in the series, he still has some noble qualities, even though it's hard to tell for all of his bloodlust.
** Shun Akiyama was once a homeless man until a very unexpected windfall came his way courtesy of the events of the [[VideoGame/Yakuza1 first game]] in the series. Using the money he managed to pick up, he made savvy investments, became a millionaire, then opened a loan office with the express purpose of [[UnclePennybags giving away his fortune to those less fortunate than himself]]. Just like Kiryu, though, he's not afraid to kick some ass if he sees punks making trouble for those who can't protect themselves.
** Kasuga Ichiban of ''VideoGame/YakuzaLikeADragon'' is a cheerful {{Manchild}} who will do anything to ''not'' do his job, such as making excuses to not shake down people for protection money or returning ill-gotten gains to kids they were stolen from. Like the other ''Yakuza'' protagonists he's always quick to help out the downtrodden and helpless, though he's much less of a loner than the likes of Kiryu and Majima and surrounds himself with an eclectic group of friends to help him along the way.

* ''VideoGame/BlazBlue'''s got a bunch of folks of decent temperament, to contrast the [[WorldOfJerkass generally cruel]] [[CrapsackWorld world]], though some take a bit of work to get through their emotional defenses. Bad things tend to happen to them a lot, however. Whether it's [[HiddenHeartOfGold Ragna]], [[ChivalrousPervert Kagura]], [[WideEyedIdealist Noel, Bang]], [[GentleGiant Tager]], [[FunPersonified Makoto]] or even {{Antivillain}}s like [[ForcedIntoEvil Litchi]] and [[BrainwashedAndCrazy Tsubaki]], one can find someone who can lend them a shoulder if they know how to get to them. It's not just these examples, either -- generally, any named character (and even some unnamed ones) are people you won't be blamed for wanting to hang around with unless they go by the names [[AxCrazy Yuuki]] [[{{Troll}} Terumi]], [[ArchnemesisDad Relius]] [[MadScientist Clover]], [[PuppetKing Imperator Librarius]] [[spoiler:([[StrawNihilist Hades]] [[OmnicidalManiac Izanami]])]], or [[BloodKnight Azrael]].

** Speaking of, Mash Kyrielight is Fujimaru’s incredibly polite and supportive Servant and [[SenpaiKohai Kouhai]] who is [[TheIngenue charmed by a number of everyday occurrences]] and by the end of the first arc [[spoiler: [[HeroicSacrifice willingly gave her life to protect her Master and all of humanity]]. Thankfully, [[BackFromTheDead she got better]]]].

* ''VideoGame/TheEndTimesVermintide'': Markus Kruber is notably the only person in [[RagTagBunchofMisfits his group of survivors]] that no one has any particularly negative feelings toward, and actively tries to keep the peace when the others start bickering.

* In ''VideoGame/PizzaTower'', Gustavo takes this role. An {{expy}} of [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Mario]], Gustavo is generally always seen in a positive mood and is always supportive of the game's protagonist, Peppino, lacking the latter's [[NervousWreck constant anxiety]] and generally being [[NoRespectGuy the]] ''[[NoRespectGuy only]]'' [[NoRespectGuy one in the tower actually helping Peppino in his journey without selfish reasons]]. Gustavo even manages to befriend one of the tower's giant rats that normally serve as blockades in levels, whom he names Brick, and [[spoiler:helps out during the final boss purely so that Peppino can [[FastballSpecial throw him at enemies]] who are otherwise unable to be damaged]]. In prerelease versions of the game, Gustavo's cheerful demeanor ''would'' lapse into rage if Peppino [[BerserkButton failed to deliver one of his pizzas]], but this mechanic was iterated out by the time the game was finished and in the final product the only anger he shows is some serious disapproval during a taunt where Brick is [[UsefulNotes/ConsoleWars briefly replaced by an expy of]] {{VideoGame/Sonic}}.

** The nicest characters in ''VideoGame/DragonAgeII'' are [[TheChick Merrill]] and [[DeadpanSnarker Varric]], mostly because Merrill doesn't really get how or why to be mean to people and Varric limits himself to poking fun. (Of course, Varric never goes anywhere without [[ICallItVera Bianca]], and we all know that ''she'' is as vicious as he is snarky.)

* While she isn't the most social or [[TheStoic outwardly emotional person]], Samus Aran of ''Franchise/{{Metroid}}'' fame is shown to be a compassionate and gentle woman who wants to make the galaxy a better place. For example, instead of coldly killing the Metroid hatchling, she spares it once she realizes it isn’t hostile, [[MamaBear protects it from Ridley]], sees that it used for beneficial research, and fights through all of Zebes to get it back. She also took the time to rescue the Etecoons and Dachora before Zebes was destroyed and saved planet Aether and the Luminoth from the Ing of her own volition and with no expectation of reward. In ''Dread'', after taking the time to listen to Quiet Robe's plight, she reassures him in the Chozo language that she will stop Raven Beak's plans to conquer the galaxy.
