>OBSERVE COLLECTION OF ESTABLISHED SICK BEATSHomestuck's music is associated with and released by a small record label, called What Pumpkin (named after a popular Running Gag / meme from MS Paint Adventures as a whole). This small group of musicians has created a vast variety of original music in myriad genres and styles, and a similarly large variety of remixes and covers of both their own tracks and externalones, to the point that there is more than enough music to provide leitmotifs for everyone and everything in Homestuck.By and large, the first several albums are composed entirely of music that has been used in the comic, but as the comic has gone on, the artists simply churn out more music than Andrew Hussie could ever possibly use, much to the benefit of the readers. As such, music on this page falls into one of three categories:
Numbered Volumes: Contain most of the music used in the comic, and pertain most closely to the events of the story.
Side Projects: Often explore groups or material running parallel to the story. At least 2 have been "composed" by characters in the comic itself.
Solo Albums: Beginning with the release of Strife*
Alternia was also a solo album, but it doesn't fit in with the pattern of the others, being priced at $6.12, and the themes are recurring
, Andrew has decided to showcase the talents of the individuals of the music team by giving them all a chance to perform solo. Typically, these albums explore genres not normally done on the team albums, and play around with the format more. These albums typically have music that does not appear in the comic at all.
Work is currently underway for Homestuck tracks to be available on the Rock Band Network; the first batch of songs to appear is expected to include Sunslammer and Dance of Thorns. The fans have also not been idle, and have made their own musical contributions.Gushing about this stuff, of course, goes on the associated Crowning Music page. However, it is of note that the Homestuck label is perhaps the most successful label on Bandcamp, and while Bandcamp does not release direct statistics, many of the Homestuck albums are top sellers long after their releases.
The What Pumpkin music label is on the following albums:

Volumes 1- 4
Homestuck Vols. 1-4 is a Compilation Rerelease of the first, second, third, and fifth official releases of Homestuck music, rereleased at a cheaper price. It covers music from Act 1 to the middle of Act 4. It was released on October 24, 2011, containing (almost) all the tracks of Volumes 1, 2, 3 and 4, as well as three "new" tracks, originally created in early 2010 to substitute for tracks removed due to dispute-related departures from the music team, but were not previously available in any other album; these three tracks are available separately for free. The original individual four albums *
originally released on August 19 2009, December 14 2009, December 15 2009, and April 13 2010 respectively
are no longer available for purchase. It contains 41 songs:
Black (featured here, on the one-year anniversary of Homestuck, and briefly here)
Doctor (Original Loop) (Bonus) (added in the Volume 1-4 rerelease)
Midnight Crew: Drawing Dead
Midnight Crew: Drawing Dead was the fourth official release and the first to mainly consist of music not used in the comic. It is a Fake Band album, based on the four members of the Midnight Crew, and is described by the creators as "jazz noir". It was released on February 4, 2010. It contains:
Three in the Morning (featured here, in the only Flash of the intermission)
Homestuck Vol. 5 is the sixth official release of Homestuck music for download. While not the first album to contain music not used in the comic, it takes the idea and runs wild with it. Despite the fact that it is called an "album", it has 65 songs*
it used to have 71, but someone was caught accidentally plagiarizing a song and had their submissions removed
. It covers music from the middle of Act 4 to partially through Act 5 Act 2, as well as replacing a few removed songs in Act 3. It was released June 13, 2010. It contains:

Alternia
Alternia is the seventh official album. It is a solo album by Toby "Radiation" Fox, composed specifically with the trolls in mind, and is the first of the solo albums. It was released less than halfway through the Hivebent story arc of Homestuck, so it contains some themes that fit less than perfectly with the trolls they were intended to evoke. It also contains six bonus tracks*
The last three songs are bonuses with the purchase of the album while the first three are still part of the album
, which are not listed as official because they are largely incomplete, inappropriate entirely for the characters, or remixes. It was released on July 18, 2010. It contains:
Interestingly, the entire album was spawned from this brief snippet and composed over the summer of 2010
)
The Felt
The Felt is the ninth album and another Fake Band album, this time based on The Felt and accordingly themed around their array of time-based powers; the team refers to its style as "temporelechestral". It plays a lot with reversed and skipping tracks combined with classical music and synthesized music. It was released on December 2, 2010. It contains:
English (featured here for the second intermission)
Variations
Volume 6: Heir Transparent
Homestuck Vol. 6: Heir Transparent is the tenth official album. It has 21 songs; every song from it featured in-comic did so in Act 5 Act 2. Some of the songs were previewed in a prototypical form in a hidden room months before anyone knew they'd be on the album. It was released on January 5, 2011. It contains:
A Tender Moment (featured on the Game Over screen here)
Crystalanthology
Strife!
Strife! is another solo album, this time by Joren "Tensei" de Bruin, consisting of seven new songs. It's primarily composed of Hard Rock songs, focusing on the original main cast of the kids, and interspersing each of their songs with their signature instrument. Notably, unlike most of the songs on this page, Tensei actually played and recorded all of the guitars and bass guitars on the album, rather than using samples. It was released February 16, 2011. It contains:
Stormspirit
Heir Conditioning (previewed briefly prior to release here)
AlterniaBound is the twelfth official album, based on the trolls and their exploits in Act 5 Act 2. In many respects it can be considered a sequel to Alternia. It consists of twenty two songs with eight bonus tracks. *
As of the latest album, this is the cheapest album at only $.16 per track.
Medium is the thirteenth official album and the third solo album, this one by Clark "Plazmataz" Powell. It focuses on the kids's Lands, with two songs for each one. The musical style is arranged and largely subdued environmental pieces; each theme also is played at least partially in the associated kid's musical instrument and style. It was released for Homestuck's second anniversary, albeit a little late on April 14, 2011. It contains:
Light
Shade
Rain (featured here, as the opener for Act 6 Act 3)
Homestuck Volume 7: At the Price of Oblivion is the fourteenth official album, released on May 31, 2011. Compared to some of the previous Volumes, it is a much darker album overall, reflecting the darker tone the story had taken at the time. It contains:
Mobius Trip and Hadron Kaleido is the fifteenth official released on May 31, 2011. It's the fourth solo album, this time from Michael Bowman. It's a themed album, unlike the others in that it is set during Sburb proper Backstory
To quote the Bandcamp site: "Mobius Trip and Hadron Kaleido, agents of Prospit and Derse. They once fought on the battlefield as their respective nemeses, only to be united by a common epiphany - the truth behind the Ultimate Riddle. Gazing upon the Skaian clouds, the secrets of the past, present, and future are now well guarded by these strange sentinels who spread enlightenment through their cryptic music and dance. Together, they hope their songs may be a beacon to all those who undertake the Riddle". However according to Andrew's newspost, it is about a separate session and doesn't correspond to the events in the story.
. It is unlike many of the Homestuck albums in that most of the songs are accompanied by vocals. It contains:
The Wanderers is the sixteenth official album, released on July 14th, 2011. Another themed album, this time based on the Exiles, such an album having been long clamored for by the fans. It is self described as "ethnoelectric", being evocative of regional/tribal music and bringing Homestuck's penchant for synths into the mix. It contains:
Sburb is the seventeenth official album, released on July 13th, 2011. It is the fifth solo album, composed by Tyler Dever and performed by Erik "Jit" Scheele. It is performed entirely on the piano and includes sheet music with purchase of the album. It contains:
The Prelude
Genesis
Eden
Exodus
Requiem
The Meek
Chronicles
Rapture
Creation
Revelations I
Revelations II
Revelations III
Prospit & Derse
Prospit & Derse is the eighteenth official album and the sixth solo album, this time from Jeremy "Solatrus" Iamurri. It was released on August 22nd, 2011. It focuses on the planets of Derse and Prospit, themed roughly around the four kids exploring the two planets. It is split between two genres, the first half of the album being upbeat classical pieces while the later half is more dark electrical. The tracks are mostly played with the instruments associated with the kids *
The Prospit half is very light hearted and full of piano, bass, and flute, whereas the Derse half is a lot darker with more synths and violin solos
. It consists of eight tracks, the first four applying to Prospit and the latter four to Derse *
Solatrus has noted that the Derse tracks are more of his forte and believes they are the stronger part of the album, but is proud of Prospit regardless. YMMV completely of course.

Volume 8
Volume 8 is the nineteenth official album, released on October 25 2011, the same date as the massive End of Act 5 flash. It has 41 tracks including the bonus songs. It returns to more of Homestuck's chiptune/electrical roots, with heavy infusions of later orchestral and rock elements present as well.
Calamity
Do You Remem8er Me
Flare (featured here, remixed slightly, in part 3 of the End of Act 5)
Cascade (featured here, as the composited full track of the End of Act 5*
This contains all the songs and is the only place to hear the slightly tweaked portions of each song, but conversely also has some transitions between them built in and not the complete track.
)
I'm a Member of the Midnight Crew (Acapella) (featured here)
Black Hole / Green Sun (Bonus) (featured here, in parts 6 and 7 of the End of Act 5)
Carefree Action (Bonus)
null (Bonus) Note
This was initially included in the .zip, but is not listed as being part of the album count, has no album art, and is a reversed and very quiet preview of a future track. Radiation later removed it as it apparently wasn't meant to be there. A boosted and rightways track can be seen here.
Song of Skaia
Song of Skaia is the twentieth official album and ninth solo album, released January 1, 2012. It is a solo single release by Mark Hadley (with vocals and lyrics by Tarien Ainuvė), and the shortest Homestuck album, with only 3 tracks. It is mainly based on a previous song of Hadley's, 'Skies of Skaia', from Volume One.
coloUrs and mayhem is actually two releases, the twenty-first and twenty-second official releases respectively. They are the results of a fan music contest and therefore all songs are from musicians not associated with the Music Team. However, many songs were renamed and some were reassigned to different characters. Because so many songs were selected, it is split into two albums, subtitled Universe A and Universe B. Universe A is primarily ambient and orchestral songs, while Universe B is more energetic and lively. Both albums also display heavy influences of rock, chiptune, and electronic music. They are mostly composed of original songs, though Universe B does include several remixes.
Universe A was released on April 2, 2012. It focuses on the Troll Session and Alternia and consists of 32 tracks *
One artist's submissions ("Indigo Archer" and "Purple Tyrant") were removed due to plagiarism. Tracks of the same name but different composition were later added to the album in their place, and may be downloaded for free
Universe B was released on April 13th, 2012, for Homestuck's third anniversary. It focuses primarily on characters from the Human Sessions. It consists of 32 songs.

Unnamed Album
This unnamed album is a future album, believed to be the twenty-third official album, apparently focusing on music of the Post-Scratch Session and Act 6. It has 3 known songs, though the album has been referred to as large. Based on the songs known to be in it, it seems to be Volume 9. It however is some time from release.
