Tropes related to EMC:

  • Bathos: Some of the sequences of images in the "Floating" music video could be seen as this.
  • Black Sheep Hit: His most popular song, "On the Melancholy End," is much more laid back and melodic than the majority of his output.
  • B-Side: "Kiss Kiss"
  • Epic Rocking: "eternal (my mother is a poet)" clocks in at 7:09.
    • "New Years Day" lasts for 6:40.
  • Everything Is an Instrument: "On the Melancholy End" uses the sounds of doors slamming and golf balls being hit for percussion.
  • Fake-Out Fade-Out: At the end of "The Twilighters."
  • Gratuitous Panning: During the bridge of "Sunny," the percussion track suddenly becomes warped and begins to move back and forth between the channels.
  • Inaction Video: "Floating." "Exquisitism" might also count.
  • Last Note Nightmare: "In Memory of the Fallen" ends with white noise.
  • Minimalistic Cover Art: All three of his major releases so far. Most of his singles, too.
  • Miniscule Rocking: "Run Run Run" is exactly three minutes long, and is the only song shorter than four minutes off Floating EP.
  • Mood Whiplash: The "Floating" music video has all sorts of different images which can be fairly shocking one after the other. The most notable example is when a peaceful shot of seemingly endless bubbles slowly floating upward is replaced with a power plant being demolished with explosives.
  • Precision F-Strike: In "BEARS!!!", as in the article it samples.
"My neighbor just got fucking eated by a bear, okay?"
  • "Psycho" Strings: In "7 Days."
  • Re-release the Song: A version of "Moonlight Streets" has appeared on all three major releases from him so far, although it was removed from Floating EP when Exquisitism was released.
  • Sampling: "BEARS!!!" features audio from SCP-2875.
    • Several other tracks from Saccharine and Saccharine, Pt. 2 feature samples prominently, including "Saccharine," "The Invisible Hand," "Saturn Song," and "Proud."
  • The Something Song: "Saturn Song."
  • Stage Names
  • Surprisingly Gentle Song: The subdued "Floating" at the end of the harsher Floating EP.
  • Surreal Music Video: "Floating" and debatably "Sweet Sixteen."
  • Tick Tock Tune: "Kiss Kiss."
  • Title Track: "Exquisitism."
    • Also, "Floating" on Floating EP.
