Christopher Maurice Brown (born May 5, 1989) is an American singer/rapper. He exploded on the music scene when he was just 15 years old, scoring a number one hit "Run It!" from his first self-titled album and is considered to be one of the singers to claim Music/MichaelJackson's "King of Pop" title. His HipHop-infused R&B style and dance moves made him a perfect teen heartthrob.

He came under heavy scrutiny and derision due to his DomesticAbuse incident with then-girlfriend, pop singer {{Music/Rihanna}} in 2009. He was tried and sentenced to a felony act and served community service. His popularity and sales took a hit, and much of 2009-2011 was spent rebuilding his image, switching his genre to HipHop as the rap community was the only one that would accept him after the incident. It paid off; he scored a number one hit on the U.S. R&B charts with ''Deuces'' in 2010 and scored a number one album called F.A.M.E. in 2011 on the Billboard 200 charts, for which he received a Grammy award win in 2012.

Unfortunately, his life and career continued to take a turn for the worse with more violent incidents (including fights with {{Music/Drake}} and Frank Ocean), trips to rehab, a jail stint, and a messy love triangle with Rihanna and Karrueche Tran. Despite ([[NoSuchThingAsBadPublicity or because of]]) all this, he's still one of the more notable and popular [=R&B=]/Pop artists coming out of the TurnOfTheMillennium. For better or worse.

!!The musician showcases examples of:
* AutoTune: "Nobody's Business" with Rihanna. "Yeah 3x" uses it as well.
* BoastfulRap: "Look At Me Now".
* BreakupSong: "Say Goodbye" and "Deuces"
* CursedWithAwesome[=/=]{{Wangst}}: "Lucky Me"
* DaddysGirl: His daughter, Royalty. So much so that he named his 2015 album after her.
* DarkerAndEdgier: After the domestic abuse incident, he can't be the fresh faced ChildPopstar anymore, so he slowly morphed into a rapper with his music and videos getting more explicit with frequent cursing and references to marijuana. Every album since F.A.M.E., his first album way removed from the Rihanna incident, has had a parental advisory label.
* DarkSkinnedBlonde:[[http://thatgrapejuice.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/chris-b12.jpg Off and on during the ''F.A.M.E.'' album.]]
* FaceHeelTurn: Musically since the incident, he has gone from good boy stuff like "With You" and "Say Goodbye" to bad boy tracks like "Deuces" and "Loyal".
* FunWithAcronyms: "F[orgiving].A[ll].M[y].E[nemies]." and "F[ans].A[re].M[y].E[verything]."
* UsefulNotes/GrammyAward: One for Best R&B Album for "F.A.M.E."
* HotterAndSexier: Along with DarkerAndEdgier, his music has gotten more explicit with sex. The first track on the ''Royalty'' album (the album dedicated to his ''daughter'') is a IntercourseWithYou song sampled from Music/MarvinGaye.
* IdenticalStranger: Looks very much like NBA player Shannon Brown. Coincidentally, they share the same last name.
** He also looks a bit like actor [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodie_Broadus J.D. Williams]] (best known for playing Bodie in ''Series/TheWire'').
* IntercourseWithYou: Plenty of them, starting with "Take You Down" off ''Exclusive''.
** Just on his ''F.A.M.E.'' album, there's "No B.S.", "Wet the Bed", and "Beg for It."
* {{Irony}}: His rivalry with Music/{{Drake}}. Both have songs called "Forever".
* MustMakeAmends: "Crawl," for example.
* RightThroughHisPants: The video for [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFAmOuQ69Qs&ob=av2n "No Bullshit."]]
* RefugeInAudacity/Music: In "I'm Still":
-->"You ni**as mad cause you fuckiní with them regular hos and ainít none better than my Asian.Ē
* PissTakeRap: Inverted, he does rap often. "Look at Me Now" is intended to be a BoastfulRap, but if you compare his verses to his guests - Music/BustaRhymes and Music/LilWayne, it comes across as such.
* SelfTitledAlbum: His debut.
* SurrealMusicVideo: [[https://youtu.be/KAfOI37aK4A "Liquor/Zero"]].
* TakeThatCritics: "Look At Me Now".
** Rihanna's song, which featured Chris Brown, "Nobody's Business", can't be a coincidence.
* TheRival: {{Music/Drake}}. Possibly over Rihanna.
* TokenBlack: Amongst the cast of ''Series/TheOC''. He was the only black recurring character, possibly only black character but his race never comes up InUniverse.
* TheTysonZone: Quite a few fake stories float around the internet about him and the sad part is ''all of them are believable''.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: He is ''completely'' unrecognizable from when he first started out his career.
* WolverinePublicity: He has done masses of features with rappers, including Busta Rhymes, Music/{{Pitbull}}, T.I., {{Music/Nas}}, Music/NickiMinaj, Music/TPain, Fat Joe, Game and Big Sean. He's also featured on songs by {{Music/Rihanna}}, Music/DavidGuetta, Keri Hilson and {{Music/Brandy}}. In in 2015, he's featured on ''10 singles'' and that doesn't include ''6 singles'' from 2014.
