Amy Lee Grant (born November 25, 1960) is an American singer who began as a Contemporary Christian musician before shifting to secular pop music in the 1980s and 90s. Both her Christian and pop music have reached huge success, and she is arguably the most famous Christian pop musician, often referred to as "The Queen of Christian Pop".

Tropes:

  • Alternate Album Cover: Her self-titled debut album's first album cover is a sepia-toned cover which featured Amy without makeup taken behind a screen door, which was replaced by a more glamorous photo starting in 1982 and this later cover is what has been used ever since, and also Unguarded originally had 4 different cover poses.
  • Break-Up Song: "That's What Love Is For" is the "Teetering on the Brink of a Breakup" variant. A couple is plagued by petty fights and doubts but love continually gives them "strength to try once more."
  • Christian Rock: She is possibly the most famous Christian Pop singer.
  • Christmas Songs: She has released multiple Christmas albums and made several Christmas TV specials.
  • Genre Roulette: She has recorded in MOR/Adult Contemporary Christian Pop (her early career), Southern and Bluegrass Gospel (her hymns albums), mainstream country-folk (Tennessee Christmas among others), folk-rock (her Lead Me On and Behind The Eyes albums), mainstream AC/top 40 pop (much of Unguarded, Heart In Motion, House of Love and Simple Things albums, the duet with Peter Cetera called "The Next Time I Fall" being the most notable) and Christian Rock (the In Concert albums and certain songs from her early career) among others.
  • Genre Shift: While initially a Christian Pop musician, she shifted to secular pop music in the 80s and had a successful pop career, however, she has not completely left making Christian music and continued to release some music in the genre.
  • God-Is-Love Songs: She has been popular both in the Christian music and mainstream music scene since the 1980s, and has recorded both God-Is-Love Songs and Silly Love Songs of the more romantic variety - as well as even a few "I love my child" songs. As such, it's not surprising for many to confuse just who the love songs were written for.
  • Greatest Hits Album: She has released several Greatest Hits albums with the most notable being The Collection in 1986 of many of her early Christian music hits (which had different track listings depending on format, 10 tracks on LP, 15 tracks on cassette and 17 tracks on CD), Greatest Hits 1986-2004 (containing all of her Top 40/AC Top 40 hits spanning the years in the title of the compilation with a DVD counterpart) and Greatest Hits in 2007 (as a result of her catalog all being reissued on Sparrow Records)
  • Grief Song: Her song "I Will Remember You" can fit into the death category of Grief Songs depending on one's interpretation of the lyrics.
  • Live Album: She's released a few live albums including the 2-volume In Concert in 1981 and Time Again: Amy Grant Live in 2006. The latter having different track listings on the CD and DVD counterparts. She's also released the Age To Age Tour video on VHS and LaserDisc in 1982, which hasn't been released on DVD, but it can be viewed on YouTube and Internet Archive, and also Lead Me On Live 1989 was released on CD on October 6, 2023 which is a live album taken from the tour promoting her 1988 album Lead Me On.
  • Music Videos: She has made music videos for many of her songs with the first music video ever made being "Angels" in 1984. Her earliest music videos have been compiled on the VHS and LaserDisc collection "Find A Way", which can be viewed on YouTube and Internet Archive, while most of the music videos from her secular pop heyday have been compiled on the "Greatest Videos 1986-2004" DVD while there is a rare early music video for "Good For Me" which is on early issues of the "Heart In Motion Video Collection" VHS and LaserDisc release.
  • Medley: The song "Ageless Medley" covers many of her own songs from her early career.
  • Reality TV: She hosted the short-lived reality TV show "Three Wishes" on NBC in 2005.
  • Self-Titled Album: Her first album takes her name.
