Ordinary High School Student,
Gregor Iago Hertz, wakes up on his
Dangerous Sixteenth Birthday, he's excited - stemming from a middle class family, he hopes on scoring the money to buy an iPod, his
MacGuffin of choice to begin siege on the heart of his beloved
rich,
Alpha Bitch. However, his humble presents don't quite make the price, and so he storms off into the city in a bout of unnecessary teenage angst. Passing through unfamiliar districts, he walks past a TV store and is mystified when an announcer mentions that 'It is a cold day in hell'. The people around him look odd, and it might be that the sky has a strange tint...
Fleeing from the increasingly warped crowd, he stumbles into
The Little Shop That Wasn't There Yesterday and sees - the Mac Phlebotinum 3000 ultra player. After having just enough money to buy it, he does, and coming home late hooks it up to his PC and goes back to sleep.
The next morning, his entire massive music collection is on the thing, and it seems to be stuck in "Shuffle All". But before he can return it, strange things start to happen.
Mainly, our unfortunate hero has gained the superpower to interpret whatever song he plays on the thing into reality.
"Great Balls of Fire"!.
First envisioned as a Comic Book, but since the fight scenes only make sense when you have his actual music track of choice, Western Animation TV would fit better.
If written, it would provide examples of:
- Applied Phlebotinum: The mystical MP3 player of extreme plot importance.
- Book Dumb: Gregor, lover of music.
- Dance Battler: Gregor.
- Darker and Edgier: Often an unintended sideeffect of listening to Metal or Punk.
- A God Am I: Do not let him listen to the Haruhi Suzumiya theme!
- Green Lantern Ring: The power possibilities of the current song are limited by its title, duration, volume, genre and rhythm, but largely by Gregor's imagination.
- Magic Dance: Used in lieu of a Transformation Sequence.
- Magic Music ... Or is it?
- Musical Slapstick Montage: The result of listening to cartoon themes. or the Benny Hill theme.
- Noodle Incident: Official superhero authorities have banned Gregor from ever listening to an increasing list of songs, most prominently Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend", ever again, ever.
- Another banned song is "If I Were Gay",
- Ho Yay: 'Girlfriend' incident mentioned above; memetic song-based powers suck when the gender-specific pronoun doesn't match.
- One-Winged Angel: Shuffle All brought up "Black Wing Metamorphosis" just in the right moment, it seems
- Power Incontinence: When you hear music on the street and start warping reality, you have a problem.
- Power Perversion Potential: How many love songs are out there? Guess.
- Powers as Programs: Well, as songs.
- Puppetmaster: See Crowning Moment of Awesome on the YMMV page.
- Retcon: Is it a magic player? Is it his power all along? Is it a technological marvel, made from alien technology ? I don't know.
- So Last Season: Getting out of ''Shuffle All' mode, but only gaining... radio.
- Left the Background Music On: His powers often invoke this, as he might subconsciously also 'broadcast' what he listens to.

- Super Mode: Basically any sufficiently dramatic song can be interpreted into a simple powerup, but it has to fit rhythmically and thematically. No gaining energy blasts from 'He's a Pirate'
- Theme Music Power-Up: Technically, this is Gregor's only power.
- Weaksauce Weakness: When your headphones are dislodged or droned out and your powers weaken, you know you need a better fighting style.
