Tony Goldwyn

Anthony Howard Goldwyn (born May 20, 1960) is an actor/director who is best known for killing Sam in Ghost and for playing the adulterous President Fitzgerald Grant in the new ABC series, Scandal. He has also directed several movies, such as the independent film, Conviction (starring Hillary Swank) and a few episodes of the series, Dexter.
Relevant tropes:
  • Chronically Killed Actor: The characters Goldwyn played in Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, Ghost, Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Dexter died. In addition, the character he played in Designing Women was dying with AIDS, and his most recent role in Scandal is on his deathbed. Ultimately subverted, though, since the character is alive and well as of the season 3 finale.
  • Family Business: His grandfather, Samuel Goldwyn, was one of the founders of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayers Studios. His father's a movie producer, his mother and grandmothers were actresses, his maternal grandfather was a playwright, and his brothers and sisters are movie producers.
  • Pretty Fly for a White Guy: Just search his name on Tumblr and noticed the number of black female Tumblr who fawn over him (mainly due to his role as President Fitz, who pines over his former black Communications Director, Olivia Pope.)
