[[caption-width-right:260:So her thighs look even better. Model: Park Hyun-Sun]]

The writers want us to know a female character is aggressive, so they are shown to us in thigh high boots. These have a certain ImpossiblyCoolClothes factor because it is uncommon, and usually impractical and expensive, for shoes to reach any higher than calf length. These shoes may have straps, buckles, zippers or laces that may go all the way up, to emphasize their length and the fact that the character wearing them has some sexy legs.

Thigh High Boots tend to double as CombatStilettos on Action Girls, though xces and RealLife prostitutes wear these as well.

Compare ZettaiRyouiki and NiceShoes -- this is a subtrope of both. See OperaGloves for the upper-limb equivalent.

%%* Mew Zakuro from Manga/TokyoMewMew.
%%* Webcomic/AxisPowersHetalia: especially the PowerTrio Italy, Germany, and Japan.

* Manga/KatekyoHitmanReborn: Gender-inverted by AntiVillain Mukuro, who has worn these as part of certain outfits (which tend to have a military flair).
* Casca from Manga/Berserk during her tenure as the only female warrior of the Band of the Hawk, though she combined them with trousers for a more modest/practical look.
%%* Momose from Manga/BloodyCross wears thigh high boots in the first few chapters. Tsukimiya also wears them once or twice.
* Franchise/SailorMoon: The Sailor Starlights wear these, as do villains Sailor Lead Crow and Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon.

* Manga/FairyTails Mirajane Strauss wears these in her demonic Satan Soul and Satan Soul: Halphas forms, and is extremely aggressive in these forms.
* The military uniforms in Manga/AttackOnTitan have tall boots that go above the knees. Unlike other examples though, they're not used for Fanservice.

* Characters/TheMightyThor: The Asgardian Enchantress sports a pair of these more often than not, usually with matching OperaGloves and a MinidressOfPower. Her bewitching magicks must work a little better if every male gaze is already locked onto her very shapely form.
%%* Supergirl, in her New 52 costume.

* Alexandra in ComicBook/DungeonTheEarlyYears. Her response on learning this is to start crying.
%%* Umbra of the .
%%* ScarletWitch, during her first couple of decades.
* ComicBook/Zatanna occasionally. Usually combined with StockingFiller and OfCorsetsSexy. Zatanna tends to be a MsFanservice character.
%%* Power Woman in ComicBook/KingdomCome.
%%* Sue Richards has worn them as part of a couple of her uniform changes over the years.
* Comicbook/Catwoman, when she was in her Purple Suit era, combining this with OperaGloves. Ditched when Ed Brubaker and Darwyn Cooke took over the title in favor of considerably more sensible boots.
* Rare male example. Ricochet of the sports a pair as part of his super hero outfit, along with a black leather jacket that was found in a thrift store from a closed-down biker bar. Neither one is really commented on, and while they are not used for InUniverse sex appeal, Rico definitely has his share of male shippers.

%%* Film/TheDevilWearsPrada: protagonist Andy Sachs's mid-movie extreme makeover is completed by a pair of the Chanel thigh-high boots. %%* VideoGame/SoulSeries
%%** As of Soul Calibur IV,
%%** Cassandra sports a pair as part of her default attire. Interesting side note: it's her player 2 costume, from part 2, with a different color scheme.
%%** Ivy in the fifth game.

%%* VideoGame/ValkyriaChroniclesIII has Riela Marcellis.

%%** Eirika from VideoGame/FireEmblemTheSacredStones.
%%* VideoGame/GuiltyGear has Dizzy, I-No and Valentine.

Presumably, this has something to do in her being a PirateGirl. When Isabela suggests Merrill get a similar pair, Merrill remarks that she feels like she'd get lost in those boots since they're so big.
-->Merrill: I've dropped marbles in them. They take an eternity to reach the bottom!
-->Isabela: That's the reason I've been finding marbles in my boots?
-->Merrill: Um. No. I'm just rambling. Look, a rock!
%%* VideoGame/Mabinogi: The Succubus boss.
%%* VideoGame/SinAndPunishmentStarSuccessor: Male example: Isa Jo.
* VideoGame/AssassinsCreedIII: Connor Kenway sports these, though it's a little hard to see under his longcoat.
%%* Akihiko Yoshida of Franchise/FinalFantasy fame positively adores this design element, which he lovingly littered throughout all of the Ivalice Alliance games, VideoGame/FinalFantasyXII, and the VideoGame/FinalFantasyIII DS remake, reaching its apogee in VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIV. Unusually, he favors this for male characters just as much as female characters, if not even more.
** For more clarification about XIV, this is part of the starting outfit for all Hyur characters, paired with a short skirt for the ladies and short shorts on guys.
* In VideoGame/RustyHearts, Natasha wears these in her default outfit. They're black and zip up partially, though usually left undone.
* VideoGame/TheMatrixPathOfNeo has an unnamned LadyOfBlackMagic who wears these - a plain, zipper-less, black-pair that're part of her default outfit, along with OfCorsetsSexy.
* In VideoGame/CaptainMorganeAndTheGoldenTurtle, Morgane (a PirateGirl) wears these. In fact, she has them even as a kid, something which serves to establish her as tougher than her more flimsily-clad friends. The fact that her boots acquire heels when she grows up suggests that she becomes aware that they also have an aesthetic effect, though.

* Blue Destiny, the leader of the Webcomic/M9Girls, wears these. Her uniform is the one that is closer to a MagicalGirl look.

* Used quite a lot in Soundscape, where ThighHighBoots often overlap with CombatStilettos. Half of the girls wear them, while the other half goes for ZettaiRyouiki or StockingFiller. Amylase explains that she went with ThighHighBoots as a substitute to stockings. Word-for-word, she describes the expensive nature in getting any boots above calf-length; the (near-)impracticality in using them for anything other than modeling; the exoticism in having laces, straps, zippers or belts to emphasize the design; their uncommon usage; the question of their origins, either from prostitutes or dominatrices; and the advantage to using them as weapons for kicking.

%%* WesternAnimation/Wakfu: Evangelyne.
* Animated WesternAnimation/TeenTitans: Starfire wears these like she does in the comics and is still a uyirl, if perkier.
