The Book Of Sorahb Series is a trilogy of books focusing on the kingdom of Farsala and its fate against the Hrum kingdom. In the first book, Flames, the daughter of the high commander, Soraya, is forced to postpone her search for a husband after the gahn (the ruler) declares that she must be sacrificed so that Farsala can win the war. Fortunately, her father comes up with a plan to save her—send her to the mountains without food, water, or shelter so that the god Azura can protect her and thus disprove any doubts about Farsala winning the war (in reality, he plans to send her to live with peasants during the time she is to stay in the mountains); meanwhile, a peddler named Kavi is forced to help the high commander by sending messages between him and the people taking care of his daughter when he is traveling. He is later captured by the Hrum and promises to serve as their spy in revenge against the deghans (nobles) of Farsala, who have seriously wounded him in the past. During that time, the high commander's illegitamite son, Jiaan, is struggling to prove that he is worthy of being a commander's aide to his rivals and prove himself to his father. All while the Hrum's soldiers are slowly closing in on the Farsala kingdom...—-
