An alt-history series of novels that dumps a West Virginia mining town into Germany in 1632, during the 30 Years' War. The series timeline is now up to 1635.
Despite the fact that the townspeople land in the middle of a religious war, religious differences play an extremely small role. The series deals with atheism, evolution by natural selection, the big bang theory, abiogenesis, etc. It is a miracle they aren't declared heretics.
