Shining Through
Shining Through is a best-selling novel by Susan Isaacs.

Set in the 1940s, Linda Voss, a woman of Irish, Jewish-German parentage who goes to work at a New York law firm for her boss Ed Leland, after it was revealed that she can speak German fluently. The two fell in love while Linda begins to suspect that Ed is involved in espionage work. When America joins the Allies for the fight against Hitler during World War II, Linda volunteers to go undercover behind enemy lines.

Was made into a film in 1992 starring Melanie Griffith as Linda and Michael Douglas as Ed, with Liam Neeson, John Gielgud and Joely Richardson rounding out the supporting cast. Despite the talent involved, it was received very negatively by critics and disappointed at the box office, winning three Golden Raspberry Awards in general, including Worst Picture, Worst Director for David Seltzer and Worst Actress for Griffith.
