She wears stiletto heels, favors form-fitting outfits with low-cut tops and hemlines well above the knee, has a sexy voice and demeanor, and can turn the head of many a man or woman. She also charges six hundred dollars an hour and doesn't care who her clients are, just as long as they pay.

No, she's not a prostitute; she's a lawyer. (Same difference, right? But we kid, we kid.)

This is basically about sexy lawyers, judges, etc. Usually (though by no means always) female, such portrayals may be seen to constitute blatant Fanservice, although they're sometimes justified in-universe (and in Real Life) as a case of lawyers using their sex appeal to help woo clients or sway juries. While this type of character can be either a Crusading Lawyer or an Amoral Attorney, the former is more likely.

Hello, Attorney! often tries cases involving suspects captured by a Fair Cop.

Similar to Hospital Hottie. Can be a Head-Turning Beauty. Compare Hot Librarian (especially in visual appearance). See also Inherently Attractive Profession when the job of being a lawyer is also considered attractive.

  • Eri Kisaki from Case Closed. Bonus for having a teenage daughter who is just as pretty as she is.
    • Her rival, Reiko Kujou, is just as hot.
  • Teru Mikami from Death Note is a male example. Unlike most examples, while he is good looking, he's also very, VERY unhinged. (Of course, this is Death Note we're talking about, so this is pretty much a given.)
  • Kotoko Fujioka from Ouran High School Host Club was a lawyer, and is known for her beauty. Her daughter Haruhi, who's fawned over quite a bit — by girls mistaking her for a guy, as well as by Tamaki and the other host club senpais — might well end up becoming this given Haruhi's dream is to also become a lawyer someday.

    Comics 
  • The Barleymasters: Frank Steenfort's lawyer gets him out of jail and gets him to show his gratitude in bed, though the relationship doesn't go any further.
  • She-Hulk:
    • The titular protagonist herself qualifies, being a 6'7" Amazonian Beauty and Statuesque Stunner whose looks have been commented on so often that she's considered an in-universe sex symbol. She's quite good looking as Jennifer Walters, too, though she's significantly more modest than She-Hulk.
    • D.A. Blake Tower is so handsome that Jen faints at first sight of him. To her disappointment, she is told that he is married.
  • Matthew "Matt" Murdock is a male example.
  • The X-Men's lawyer, Evangeline "Vange" Whedon, is a Goth chick who bares her midriff more often than not. However, the fact that she turns into a Kaiju if blood touches her has cost her at least one boyfriend.
  • Captain America's girlfriend in the 80s Bernie Rosenthal.
  • Harvey Dent, pre-scarring, is generally acknowledged to be good looking, even getting called "Apollo" for his looks.
  • On The DCU's Earth-Two there is a Gotham based law firm named "Cranston, Grayson and Wayne" which in the 1980s and 90s employed three very attractive young attorneys who moonlight as costumed heroes; Dick M. Grayson (Robin), Helena Wayne (Huntress) and Charles Bullock (Blackwing). Helena also tended to wear cleavage showing outfits, with skirts and heels as an attorney.
  • Touch (2004): Allison, Coop's business partner and lawyer, tends to wear striking evening dresses and is a former showgirl.

  • 2666: By the end of the book, Klaus and his lawyer are blatantly in a sexual relationship.
  • In the Aunt Dimity series, attorney Bill Willis had a scraggly beard, a paunch, and thick horn-rimmed glasses when Lori met him. He lost all three and Lori describes him as being "quite literally, tall, dark and handsome."
  • John Putnam Thatcher: In Green Grow the Dollars, Hilary, the girlfriend of one of the main guest characters, is a pro bono lawyer who "would have been noticed anywhere" due to her figure and taste in makeup and clothing.

    Live-Action TV 
  • This trope seems to be a favorite of David E. Kelley's:
    • The entire cast of Ally McBeal. Except maybe Richard Fish. Ally's fondness for very short skirts was often noted by viewers and characters within the show. In one episode, it is eventually revealed that this is an advertised selling point for the law firm — it's in their promo materials that all their female lawyers have to be hot.
    • The Practice and Boston Legal have no shortage of easy-on-the-eyes characters. (Neither do any of his non-legal shows, for that matter.)
  • Sophia Perez, played by Eva Longoria, on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, the girlfriend of Detective Jake Peralta for part of Season 2.
  • Elizabeth Canterbury (pictured above) in the short-lived Canterbury's Law, also starring Julianna Margulies, is another good example. As critic Alan Sepinwall put it in his review of the pilot:
    "'Canterbury's Law' is a show that's almost entirely about Margulies' legs. That, or her shoes. Practically every scene opens with a fetishized close-up of Margulies' latest stylish pair of stilettos, then a pan up her stockings. When she complains that a co-worker is overshadowing her, he says, 'Relax. You've got better legs.' You know things are getting stressful for her when you see she's chosen to wear pants."
    • Not to mention Neena Broderick, the character Margulies played as the Girl of the Week in two episodes of Scrubs.
  • One episode of Castle featured a lawyer who had given up law to become a dominatrix.
  • Rebecca in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is a lawyer and also fairly attractive (although with The amp tendencies). When Rebecca's in court on TV because she's fighting the water case, and the others are watching, even Heather murmurs "I'd bang that gavel."
    • Nathaniel when he's introduced in Season 2. He's fit, blonde and elegant.
  • Matthew Crawley of Downton Abbey in a very technical sense: he's a lawyer and played by the very pretty Dan Stevens, but we hardly ever see Matthew do any lawyering. Granted, he's a solicitor, so he doesn't argue cases, but we don't really even see him do the work of the kind that solicitors do (advising clients, negotiating/drafting contracts,note  doing paperwork, etc.). The closest we get is the "swivel chair" scene, in which the Dowager Countess approaches him to review the terms of the entail her late husband had applied to Cora's fortune.
  • French series Engrenages has two of them - male and female versions. The male one is dark-haired firm-chinned prosecutor Pierre Clément. The female one is busty and slender redhead Joséphine Karlsson, who also displays a deep lack of morals.
  • The Good Wife: The title character, Alicia Florrick, and the entire rest of the firm are very attractive.
  • Everyone in the main cast of How to Get Away with Murder; the plot follows Hot Teacher Annalise Keating, her associates Frank and Bonnie, and the five (very pretty) law students she picks from her class to help out at her firm. Special mention goes to Connor, one of said five students, who used sex and his good looks to help out with cases more than once.
  • JAG: Both protagonists are hot.
    • Sarah Mackenzie was Ms. Fanservice. This got a nod on the show itself when they land a big public case, and a late-night TV host says something to the effect of "Colonel Mackenzie? More like Major Babe."
    • Harmon Rabb was Mr. Fanservice. Plus he got to wear a uniform and was a pilot.
    • Rabb's female partners in the 1st season, Caitlin Pike and Meg Austin, are not too bad either.
  • Jane Ramos from Jane the Virgin is a smooth-talking lawyer whom everyone thinks is hot.
    Petra: Jane Ramos, my lawyer.
    Rafael: Oh, yeah.
    Jane: Smokin' hot.
  • Judge John Deed:
  • Judge Amy Gray, of Judging Amy, and her aide.
  • Keep Breathing: Liv is a skilled, successful lawyer who's also very beautiful. Her business attire is not revealing, though it doesn't matter-she's attractive enough without doing anything more.
  • Grace Van Owen, on L.A. Law.
    • Kind of subverted because the other female lawyers, in starring roles, are more average looking.
    • However, we do have Michele Greene's Abby Perkins, and in later seasons C.J. Lamb (Amanda Donohoe), ADA Zoey Clemmons (Cecil Hoffman), Melina Paros (Lisa Zane) and Jane Halliday (Alexandra Powers)—all better-than-average-looking women.
    • On the male side, Harry Hamlin (People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" in 1987) as Michael Kuzak, Corbin Bernsen as Arnie Becker and Jimmy Smits as Victor Sifuentes.
  • Law & Order: Pretty much every ADA, including a few of the men. Claire Kincaid, Jamie Ross, Abbie Carmichael, and Connie Rubirosa in particular. It's been Lampshaded; in Claire's first episode, she asks Jack about sexual relationships with his female ADAs. He says he only had three such relationships in 24 years, including an ex-wife. At the end of the episode, she says she checked, and he's only had three female assistants. He insists he was being honest.
    • Carey Lowell (Ross) gets some bonus points for being a former Bond girl.
    • Annie Parisse's first appearance on L&O was as a stripper named Jasmine. They brought her back to play ADA Alexandra Borgia.
    • John James "Jack" McCoy is a good example of such. Even Dick Wolf admitted to this as to why he brought in Sam Waterston, to create a character with more stability and sex appeal.
    • Law & Order: Special Victims Unit ADAs, most notably Alex Cabot and Casey Novak.
    • Even though she was only in one episode, ADA Mikka Von (Paula Patton) seemed to have had everybody fawning over her.
    • SVU's first male in the role is Rafael Barba. He gets almost as much admiration as Alex and Casey.
      • And now there's Peter Stone. Tall, blond, built Peter Stone.
    • In addition to Alex herself, all her ADAs on the short-lived spinoff Conviction were pretty telegenic.
    • Law & Order: Criminal Intent had a male version in Ron Carver with his collection of nice suits and smooth, deep voice. Also, although she only appeared in a couple of episodes, but Patricia Kent counts as well.
    • Law & Order: Trial by Jury had bureau chief Tracey Kibre (played by the delectable Bebe Neuwirth) and ADA Kelly Gaffney.
    • Law & Order: UK seems to be following in this trend as well with the casting of Freema Agyeman.
    • Also lampshaded by Alana De La Garza's ADA Connie Rubirosa in the Season 18 episode "Tango" and the Season 20 episode "Reality Bites", where EADA Michael Cutter takes advantage of a juror's and a reality TV producer's interests (respectively) in her to advance the People's case in both episodes.
  • While not really lawyers, Tara and Hardison on Leverage both portray them as part of cons. Tara is even referred to as a Hot Librarian when the team sees her for the first time.
  • Dr. Lightman's ex-wife from Lie to Me, who says she left him partly because when she was just wearing a thong, he was looking at her eyebrows. She's played by Jennifer "Flashdance" Beals.
  • Constance from Life.
  • Sideways Ilana on Lost.
  • Christine Sullivan of Night Court.
    • Also Liz Williams and Billie Young of earlier seasons, though their physical appearance was not commented on nearly as much.
    • Dan Fielding, as well, in the early seasons when he was still The Casanova (instead of the pathetic Casanova Wannabe of his Flanderized version).
  • Sherry Stringfield, Sharon Lawrence, and, especially, Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon on NYPD Blue.
  • Kim Delaney's defense-attorney protagonist on the short-lived Philly
  • All the main cast of Raising the Bar, but Michelle and Bobbi in particular.
  • Phyllida Erskine-Brown of Rumpole of the Bailey is always dressed crisply and conservatively, but still knows how to present herself attractively. (She could have done much better than her eventual husband Claude.) Phyllida's not above using her looks to gain an edge in court, or in chambers, and on at least one occasion memorably catches the eye of Judge Roger "The Mad Bull" Bullingham.
  • Sexual harassment lawyer Mary Tate on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
  • The CBS series The Defenders (2010) had stripper-turned-lawyer Lisa Tyler.
  • Liz Traynor in The Good Guys.
  • Marsha Darden (played by Cristine Rose) on The Jamie Foxx Show (the episode "I've Fallen and I Won't Get Up").
  • Beth Davenport in The Rockford Files.
  • The Wire:
    • Asst. State's Attorney Rhonda Pearlman. A gorgeous woman, and Love Interest to two police guys who are very attractive themselves.
    • One Fair Cop is forced to leave the Baltimore PD and becomes an attorney in the finale. It's Cedric Daniels, who later appears before his better half, Circuit Judge Rhonda Pearlman.

  • Assistant District Attorney Alex Cahill-Walker on Walker, Texas Ranger, and considering she marries the titular cop later in the series, daughter and all, also the series' resident Damsel in Distress.
  • The law firm of Pearson Hardman on Suits is rife with this. Managing partner Jessica Pearson shows off her looks with great pride (she is of course played by Gina "Zoe" Torres. There is also pretty paralegal Rachel Zane (whose actress is now a genuine princess) and assorted other extras running around the firm. On the male side, protagonists Harvey Specter and Mike Ross are both extremely handsome. Part of the running joke is that Harvey's main rival, Louis Litt, is a balding, average-looking man who is always compared unfavorably with Harvey. (Although he does seem at times to have the kavorka). Recurring characters include Dana "Scotty" Scott (Harvey's on-and-off girlfriend), Travis Tanner (a sleazy ambulance chaser played by Eric Close), and Stephen Huntley (Harvey's British counterpart).
  • Nathan Petrelli and Alek Rybak, both played by Adrian Pasdar.
  • Erin and Tatum from Crownies. Lina is also attractive but is a lot more conservative in how she dresses.
  • Brad Morris from How I Met Your Mother is a male example. He uses this to his advantage with female jurors and maybe judges.
  • Laurel Lance from Arrow has the looks but she doesn't usually use them to help win cases - that's more her smarts (and the occasionally the Starling City Vigilante). Her Earth-2 Evil Counterpart has never actually gone to law school. This doesn't stop her from picking up Laurel-1's law books and quickly taking her place as the DA.
  • Shark: Pretty much every main character is an example. Bonus points for doing this whole hitting different age groups.
  • In the pilot of the 1990s Australian series The Feds, a federal police officer is being grilled on the witness stand by a female defense lawyer played by Sigrid Thornton, who starts asking if he'd ever cheated on his wife before the judge rules it irrelevant. Afterwards, the prosecutor realises how she'd know this.
    Prosecutor: You slept with her, didn't you? You lucky bastard!
  • Angela Valdes in Power.
  • Bayan Ko has Atty. Karen Canlas, chief-of-staff to Lagros' town mayor, Joseph Santiago; she's even (un)lucky enough to get catcalled in the pilot (for which she quickly dresses-down the offenders), and eventually becomes the object of affection for a local congressman.
  • The Indian Detective: Priya, what with her huge doe eyes, raised cheekbones, and smooth, slightly heart-shaped face.
  • Marvel Cinematic Universe:
  • Jimmy's friend and colleague Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul is this, although she favours trouser-suits and skirts that don't come up much past the knee.
  • Schmigadoon!: The lawyer Bobby Flanagan is essentially a female Billy Flynn who gets two musical numbers about how hot she is:
    • "Bobby's Vamp", where she visits Josh in prison and all the prisoners sing about how sexy she is and how they want her to defend them.

      On technicalities
    • "Bells and Whistles", where she uses sex appeal, dance, and trapeze in addition to legalese to sway the judge and jury to her side.
      Judge: Does the jury need time to deliberate?
      Juror: Absolutely not, your honor. We, the jury, unanimously find Bobby Flanagan to be absolutely stunning, and Josh Skinner innocent of all charges.

  • Much of the main cast of the Ace Attorney series, Mia Fey in particular. Maya even takes advantage of this by channeling her to get an uncooperative Dirty Old Man witness to give information.
    • Except for the Judge and his brother. Definitely not the Judge or his brother.
    • Godot, huff huff huff, complete with Sexophone for music theme.
    • The Gavin brothers, Klavier and Kristoph. Klavier even makes use of his sex appeal in his secondary career as a rockstar, and when he first meets Apollo teases him for staring like a fangirl (Apollo was actually startled by Klavier's Uncanny Family Resemblance to Kristoph).
    • And Miles Edgeworth, who's up there with Gavin and Diego in the "Even the Guys Want Him" department. He occasionally gets hit on in court, much to his distress.
    • And for the kinkier in the crowd, there's Franziska von Karma.
    • The spin-off The Great Ace Attorney continues the tradition of attractive lawyers, particularly with the prosecutors Barok van Zieks and Kazuma Asogi. Despite a major case of resting bitch face, van Zieks is extremely attractive with very tight clothing.
  • A female character in Neverwinter Nights 2 with high Charisma and high ranks in conversation skills can achieve this during your trial for mass murder during the second chapter of the main campaign.
  • If your daughter in Princess Maker 2 has enough Intelligence, Morals and Faith among other stuff, she can become a judge.
  • In Katawa Shoujo, Lilly Satou's sister Akira is a Bifauxnen version.
  • Elara Dorne in Star Wars: The Old Republic has shades of this; she may not be an attorney per se, but she can navigate the bureaucracy of the Republic military like no other.
  • Maribelle from Fire Emblem: Awakening wants to become a judge/magistrate, and she does in her ending. Though we see her work as a White Mage/prospect Combat Medic.
  • Persona 5 has Sae Niijima, a prosecutor for the Tokyo District Special Investigation Department, who's very easy on the eyes. Even a few characters in-universe make note of her beauty.
