* Mentalist Creator/DerrenBrown (no, [[Creator/DanBrown not Dan]], Derren) famously played a game of Russian Roulette on live TV. Derren has since publicly confirmed that the gun was holding a blank round. He has also pointed out that by pressing the barrel right against his temple and firing point blank, he WAS still in danger of being extremely badly hurt or killed by the discharge -- that was ''exactly'' how actor Jon-Erik Hexum died, for example. In fact, during the special, the anonymous armorer (UK law requires one to be a licensed armorer to own, hold, and fire pistols; Derren and the candidates therefore traveled abroad in order to get around this) showed exactly this to the potential participants (one of whom was to select the chamber in which the round was to be loaded) on a firing range with a filled water bottle.

* Catherine ''Series/TheGreat'' plays this with flintlock pistols; three on a table, one of them loaded. On one occasion she's about to play when an assassin burst into the room; fortunately the pistol she's just picked up is the loaded one. She's understandably bemused that an assassin inadvertently saved her life.

She's understandably bemused that an assassin her would-be murderer inadvertently saved her life.
