"Rob Liefeld, you will never not be popular!"

Rob Liefeld is a comics "artist." He was known for his unique style (exaggerated anatomy, pouches, weird penciling lines, pouches, bizarre angles, and pouches), which managed to achieve quite a bit of popularity. However, this "uniqueness" was squashed when, noticing its popularity, lots of other artists began to copy it in hopes of making as much money as Liefeld.

Once all the stuff that was considered "unique" about his work was splattered everywhere, everyone started getting sick of it, both due to its proliferation and also due to the various flaws in it. Massive Hype Backlash followed. Rob Liefeld had the distinction of being one of the most influential and successful artists, and yet one of the most disliked ones. One of the pioneers of the Nineties Anti Hero, he holds the distinction of being quite disliked by the comic community. If you don't know why, see these 40 reasons. And imagining other works in his style is... disturbing.

Note that his writing wasn't particularly stellar either; some of the stories he wrote were quite...lacking, to put it very politely.
