* ''Manhua/WeaponsOfTheGods'':
** Done by Wen-Tian, when he sees Wen-Cai get injured during Xiong-Yan Wang’s assault on the Northern Clan. It results in Xiong-Yan Wang fleeing with Bei-Ming Xue as a hostage, two of his hybrid warriors taken prisoner, and the rest slaughtered.
** The Phoenix Queen ''almost'' goes on one against the heroes when her MamaBear instincts get triggered, but is talked out of it by Zhuo Bu-Fan (much to Prince Gu’s displeasure). She ends up ransoming Wen-Tian’s freedom in exchange for his help in finding the Feng-Huang’s missing piece.
** Fu-Xi went on one ''against heaven itself'' in the {{Backstory}} after completing the Shi-Fang Ju-Mie, in retaliation for the thunder & lightning gods attacking him & injuring his celestial steed. Fortunately, he gets steered toward the more constructive goal of reinforcing the Celestial Demon’s prison instead.
** Chi-You almost immediately goes on one after he's resurrected, due to the Overlord's efforts to woo his lover, the Flower Goddess. The Overlord certainly doesn't help his own case, constantly berating the seething demigod even after they meet face-to-face.
** Niu-Lang embarks on one after he falls in with the Evil Emperor, destroying Emperor Yan's kingdom in retaliation for his actions as the Overlord of the Heaven-Earth Alliance. This culminates in a duel with the Emperor himself, but by then, not even the Shi-Fang Ju-Mie can help him stand against Niu-Lang.
** When Wen-Cai gets abducted by the Evil Emperor, Wen-Tian's BigBrotherInstinct gets kicked into overdrive.

* ''Manhwa/PerfectMarriageRevenge'': Downplayed. Iju well intends to punish all those who have wronged her in the past, present and future and take back everything that they stole from her. Rather than burn her enemies to the ground and laugh over their corpses, however, she goes for a more subtle but no less damaging method — she ends her engagement to her unfaithful fiancé and gets engaged to the man her stepsister, for whom the fiancé planned to divorce Iju, wanted to marry herself. She plans to use her knowledge of the future to invest in her father’s failing company, and buy all the shares once the stock price crashes, therefore taking back the inherited business that was promised to and later stolen from her in the original future.
* ''Manhwa/Priest1998'': Betheal and Ivan against all the fallen angels, Vascar De Guillon during the crusades against everyone once his family dies.
* ''Manhwa/TheScholarsReincarnation'': Jung-woo's past life, by the looks of it, was just one long Rampage of Revenge. In his current life, he only ever had one, and that was [[spoiler: against the people who kidnapped him and his sister.]]

** The story of the Levite and his concubine in the Literature/BookOfJudges. After several Benjamites gang-raped a Levite's concubine, resulting in her death, the Israelites demanded the killers be handed over for punishment. The Benjamites refused, so the Israelites declared war and spent what must have been several months destroying all the major Benjamite cities, then hunting down all the surviving Benjamites and killing all the ones who were not virgins. Safe to say they won't do it again, although the tribe had been decimated to the point where a LoopholeAbuse had to take place when the other tribes of Israel had put a curse on anyone from their own tribes that would give their daughter to a Benjamite male as a wife.

** Also in the Literature/BookOfJudges was Samson, the final judge of Israel who was blessed with superhuman strength. He married a Philistine woman, but a dispute with his in-laws escalated until the Philistines burned his wife and her father alive. When Samson heard of his wife's death, he flew into a rage and slew a great many Philistines before allowing himself to be taken prisoner and brought down into Lehi, where he slipped his bonds and slaughtered 1,000 Philistines with a donkey's jawbone. His conflict with the Philistines continued until he was depowered, taken prisoner, [[HumiliationConga blinded, enslaved and exhibited as a public spectacle to display the Philistine's might.]] Unfortunately for the Philistines, Samson gained his power from his hair, and his hair still grew while he was in captivity, and the day he fully regained his strength was the day that he was brought into the Philistine temple full of 3,000 people, including the entire Philistine government...
** The [[FinalSolution ultimate annihilation]] of the nation of Amalek in the Literature/BooksOfSamuel, which saw God decree that every single inhabitant of Amalek was to be killed, was revenge for how the Amalekites had ambushed the Israelites [[Literature/BookOfExodus while they were in the desert]] and [[AnArmAndALeg "hewn into pieces"]] all who fell into their hands in order to mock the rite of circumcision. Though they were eventually defeated by Moses, Israel had vowed to one day destroy them entirely for what they had done; several generations later, during which time Amalek had continued to raid the Israelites, destroy their farms, and enslave their women, that day had finally come.

Would-be avengers need to be extremely careful about falling into HeWhoFightsMonsters territory. It's one thing to take revenge on someone who is directly responsible for wronging you, but it's quite another to [[RevengeByProxy extend your revenge to that person's children]], people who are only tangentially related to the main target, and any innocent bystanders unlucky enough to get in the way. If this happens, then TheHero [[FaceHeelTurn may cease]] [[JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope to be worthy of]] [[FallenHero be]] [[MoralEventHorizon worth of]][[FallenHero that title.]]

* In ''WesternAnimation/MonstersVsAliens'', the heroine [[GiantWoman Ginormica]] is abducted by the alien [[BigBad Gallaxhar]], who imprisons her in a seemingly impenetrable pink force field. He thinks that she can't escape... then she breaks open the cage and throws at him. She then goes on an UnstoppableRage and smashes through every door Gallaxhar throws at her in an effort to catch Gallaxhar and kill him to avenge Insectosaurus, who she believed Gallaxhar had killed. [[SubvertedTrope Unfortunately]], Gallaxhar takes advantage of Ginormica's blind rage to trap her in a machine that extracts the [[ImportedAlienPhlebotinum Quantonium]] from her body. [[DoubleSubvertedTrope Double-Subverted]] when she takes it back by shooting a ball that contained it, restoring her giant size and strength.

[[EnemiesList She's making her list]], [[SantaClaus she's checking it twice]], and she's [[SortingAlgorithmOfEvil checking off your name after she's killed you nice]], probably for [[ItsPersonal making it personal]]. And in the above example she's even ''quoting her own movie poster blurb''. But it's okay, you deserve it — because you're evil, you [[MamaBear kidnapped her child]], and you probably [[KickTheDog kicked her dog]] ([[MoralEventHorizon if not worse]]) as well. Either you're a minion or you're the BigBad behind it all, but it doesn't matter in the end because either way, you're going down… and Alice or Bob is going to be the one to do it, even if it means [[TakingYouWithMe going down with you]].
