General clarification for Puella Magi. Added example for Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

* In ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica'' this is the first hint that something is wrong about [[spoiler:Homura]].

this is trope to use Stray Cat to assassinate Yoshikage Kira to save both the first hint that something heroes and his mother Shinobu, taking advantage of how the loops will make events such as a breaking teapot or a thunder strike always occur. [[DeconstructedTrope Unfortunately]], his changed attitude gets Kira (who can't [[RippleEffectProofMemory remember the previous loop]] but is wrong observant to pick up on Hayato's traits) to be suspicious, and a change in events leads Kira to have his watch in his jacket pocket [[PocketProtector which protects him from Stray Cat's air bubble]]. [[spoiler:Luckily, Hayato had a back up plan of calling Josuke's house (thanks to remembering Josuke overslept in the previous loop) then goading Kira into bragging about [[spoiler:Homura]].his true identity, [[RightBehindMe right in earshot of Josuke and Okuyasu]] and [[LoopholeAbuse in a manner that doesn't trigger Bite the Dust since they didn't find out through Hayato]]]].
** In the final arc of ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureStoneOcean'', [[spoiler:Pucci successfully resets the universe with Emporio as the SoleSurvivor of the heroes. He reveals that the new universe follows the same path as the old, and everyone but him will be predestined to follow but always subconsciously aware of their him. His knowledge of Emporio's fate allows him to know exactly where he's going, especially with the young boy unable to change his destination consciously. Thankfully, Emporio is able to take advantage of Pucci's ImmuneToFate trait [[HoistByHisOwnPetard to set up his downfall with the Stand Weather Report]]]].
* ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica'': The full-extent of [[spoiler:Homura's]] power is to go back to a few months prior for the purpose of [[spoiler:preventing Madoka from becoming a Magical Girl and either die fighting Walpurgis or become an even more powerful Witch]]. This is how she knows that the Witch Walpurgis Night will attack their home, and why she attempts to form an alliance with [[DarkActionGirl Kyoko]] to stop it.

Added DiffLines:

* Literature/TearmoonEmpire: Mia, an Imperial Princess, travels back eight years in time after getting beheaded as part of the consequences of a revolution. Her best bet for solving the empire's upcoming problems is making allies with people who showed to be more aware of them than she was in the timeline in which she got beheaded. As a result, she finds herself parroting information and opinions to the past counterparts of the very people who first shared them with her, at point where she would have been among the many people not giving them proper attention. This is a factor in the recurring gag of her getting mistaken for being wiser than she actually is.

* ''Machinima/RedVsBlue'': Wyoming uses his time distortion unit to keep looping time whenever he gets beaten by Tex and the Blues, allowing him to foresee several of their plans (for example, he knows where Tex is hiding with her invisibility unit, and knocks her out). However, thanks to a special ability of his LaserBlade, Tucker has RippleEffectProofMemory, and uses this trope to his advantage to kill Wyoming and save Caboose's life.

** Repeated in the sequel, ''VisualNovel/VirtuesLastReward''... well, [[MindScrew kinda]]. [[spoiler: The purpose of the second Nonary Game was Akane teaching Zero how to alter the past using MindSwap on his younger self, so that his younger self would get the experience necessary to survive another Nonary Game which he would've been a part of had he not swapped minds with his older self, who would know how to survive the Decision Game in ''VisualNovel/ZeroTimeDilemma'', thereby preventing the release of Radical-6]].

* Kevyn Andreyasn in ''Webcomic/SchlockMercenary'' travels back in time with a database of news reports and other information, after saving the galaxy he uses lottery numbers to make a lot of money (which ends up getting him in trouble with TheMafia). The version of Kevyn from the past uses stock market information from the same database to also make a lot of money (which mostly gets spent saving Tagon).

* In ''Literature/TimeEnoughForLove'', this is how archprotagonist Lazarus Long hopes to survive and prosper in the 1920's United States, since that's when he grew up and he has extensive period and personal knowledge of the era. Two things foil him: first, he arrives too early due to a miscalculation and winds up in 1916, on the cusp of U.S. involvement in UsefulNotes/WorldWarI. Second, he falls in love with his mother Maureen and, in a [[LoveMakesYouDumb misguided attempt to impress her]], enlists in the army. However, he does entrust to Maureen a wealth of information on the future history of the United States in that timeline, allowing her to quietly abet several key events that help things [[YouAlreadyChangedThePast turn out the way they should]].
