->''"Pedro's tears are once again flowing like waterfalls!"''
-->-- '''Pedro''', ''Anime/ExcelSaga''
%% One quote is sufficient. Please place additional entries on the quotes tab.

Just as the human body contains gallons of [[HighPressureBlood highly pressurized blood]], it also contains an equal amount of tears, at a similar pressure. Under the proper emotional stimulus, these tears can emerge as cascading sheets, actual waterfalls, or even firehose-like streams, all emitted from the eyes (of course).

Some characters require less stimulus than others.

As a visual trope, this is OlderThanTelevision; older American animation had a number of minor characters (who were usually minor in the sense of age as well) who would begin high-pressure crying at the drop of a hat (sometimes preceded by PuppyDogEyes, though that was more typically a signal for a poignant single glistening teardrop). Often called the "Fire Hydrant Wail" in the case of the more extreme versions.

Compare SparklingStreamOfTears, ManlyTears, TenderTears. Contrast TryingNotToCry, SingleTear, InelegantBlubbering (both of which involves rather fewer and rather more realistic tears), FireballEyeballs.

* British advert for Walkers Crisps, playing on footballer Paul Gascoigne's famous tears at the 1990 World Cup, fits him with a couple of hoses for a rare Live-Action version of Ocular Gushers. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8OLuUjXbsI Here you go]].
* In an advertisement for IHOP's endless stack of pancakes, a man is so saddened by his empty plate, a HUGE tear builds on his cheek. It gets sucked back in by the arrival of a new stack.
* The Old Spice commercial [[http://youtu.be/czTip-PbZyU "Tree"]], where several mothers are atop a tree, playing this trope straight.

[[folder:Anime & Manga]]
* ''Manga/AxisPowersHetalia'':
** [[MoeAnthropomorphism Italy]] pulls this off several times, with tears literally spraying out in all directions. Notably in episodes 3 and 8, when he is faced with [[DrillSergeantNasty Germany]], and [[LethalChef England's]] cooking respectively.
** His [[BlatantLies manlier]] older brother Romano also does this once or twice as well.
** Ukraine's tears.
* Nearly everyone in ''Manga/AzumangaDaioh'' does this in at least several points of the series. Worth mentioning is Mr. Kimura, who, in the last episode, spouts a literal waterfall of tears that traces down the contours of his suit.
* In the manga of ''Literature/BattleRoyale'', this is a constant occurence with practically every character. Generally the steady-stream of thick rivers of tears.
* Randou Rino of ''Anime/BestStudentCouncil'' does this often, usually while [[TheGlomp glomping]] her friend Ayumu.
* ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'':
** The administrator at Ichigo's school, who called several students in anime episode 11 to berate them for their misbehavior at Don Kanonji's TV show filming in episode 10.
** Kon and several of Ichigo's ''male'' student friends (especially Keigo) have done this repeatedly.
* Being the light-hearted parodies of the Nasuverse they are, these show up in ''Anime/CarnivalPhantasm'' and its predecessor ''Manga/TakeMoon'' from time to time. For example, when Rin Tohsaka finds out she wasted ten years of her life preparing for a Holy Grail War that's now a ''Japanese game show''.
* In Episode 23 of ''Anime/DemashitaPowerpuffGirlsZ'', [[EverybodyCries the entire city of New Townsville]] [[ExaggeratedTrope literally]] cries a river after the kabuki monster impairs everyone with his misery rays. This is also reference to how [[WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls Lou Gubrious]] sets his misery rays on Townsville.
** In a later episode, Momoka cries these during a childish tantrum; her tears ''fill the screen right up'' momentarily.
* In an episode of ''Manga/DragonBall'', when Chi-Chi sees Gohan's blonde hair (at this time, she doesn't know what a Super Saiyan is), she acts shocked and cries because she felt that Gohan became a "punker."
* Virtually everyone in ''Manga/ElfenLied'' ... at least while they are not violently disemboweling someone. Considering [[BreakTheCutie what happens to everyone throughout the story]], it's not surprising.
* ''Anime/ExcelSaga'':
** Pedro in the anime (as the opening quote attests).
** In [[Manga/ExcelSaga the manga]], this literally happens to Ropponmatsu II; crying caused the little robot girl to spring a leak.
** Also happens in ''Excel Saga's'' SpiritualSuccessor ''Anime/PuniPuniPoemi''. "This is making me cry waterfalls!"
* ''Anime/{{FLCL}}''. During the final episode "[=FLClimax=]", Commander Amarao has one of these during the final confrontation between Atomsk!Naota and Haruko.
* ''Manga/FairyTail'':
** At one point, local water mage Juvia starts crying and nearly ''drowns'' several mages around her.
** Lucy does this in the episode when she becomes invisible.
* ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'':
** Occurs occasionally in the [[Anime/FullmetalAlchemist 2003 anime version]], even to Alphonse, who has [[http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb161/NGR_album/074.jpg no tear ducts]]. Or eyes, for that matter. Especially gets ridiculous when he questions moments where Ed won't cry for him when they're both in despair.
** In the 25th episode of ''[[Manga/FullmetalAlchemist Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood]]'', May Chang is anxious about her pet Panda after she and it are separated during an intense fight with the enraged homunculus, Gluttony. In one scene, she actually cries a jet of tears which almost puts out the burning coals she used to warm herself.
* Every human who's freed from a Zonder Core in ''Anime/GaoGaiGar'' has these. Makes sense, since being purified appears to relieve whatever stress led to them being a Zonder target in the first place.
* ''Manga/{{Haikyuu}}'' usually portrays realistic crying, but there's one notable example of OcularGushers: when Shimizu, the team manager, digs up Karasuno's old banner and wishes the team good luck in the upcoming tournament. The 3rd and 2nd years just stare blankly for a moment... [[Funny/{{Haikyuu}} then tears suddenly start splurting out]]. [[http://38.media.tumblr.com/10bf0db34d5c6738f3235e016c84b362/tumblr_n8aosktkEa1t89rpeo3_r1_500.gif It must be seen to be believed.]]
* ''Anime/HanaukyoMaidTai''. Chief Technology maid Ikuyo Suzuki is prone to these. Taro does it in episode 13 and 14 and ''La Vérité'' episode 7.
* Haré of ''Anime/HareGuu'' has to put up with so much grief from the titular AdorableAbomination, it's no wonder he does this at the drop of a hat.
* Eriko from ''Manga/HighSchoolGirls'' is prone to this.
* Kagome's grandfather in ''Manga/{{Inuyasha}}''.
* Mako from ''Anime/KillLaKill'' takes this to its logical extreme at the end of [[spoiler: her fight with Ryuko]] by having her entire eyes turn into pools of water before spewing forward like a busted hydrant. Like everything in that anime, even the crying is done to the extreme.
** She does it again when Gamagoori gets knocked out protecting her, making an otherwise dramatic scene fairly {{Narm}}-y.
* ''Manga/LoveHina'':
** Keitarō is well known for this, at the drop of a hat, of the cascading sheets variety, with at least one of firehose-like streams.
** Shinobu comes in second for frequency.
** Creator/KenAkamatsu almost always depicts himself in this fashion in illustrations.
* Practically everybody in ''Anime/LuckyStar'' fall into this trope at the drop of a hat.
* Izuku Midoriya, the protagonist of ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'', often turns this trope {{UpToEleven/Up to Eleven}}. In one instance, his tears shot upwards with so much pressure that [[http://40.media.tumblr.com/b54539096d49339e49ff3109b41f070f/tumblr_njvgj2B6A61u6s7veo1_1280.png his feet were buried into the ground from the recoil]]. [[ItRunsInTheFamily His mother]] is also equally prone to crying up literal rivers while watching the tournament on TV; apparently she fainted ''five times'' during the tournament, two of those times being from ''dehydration!''
** The fact that this is turned UpToEleven has made fans joke that Izuku isn't actually quirkless and his ability to do this trope '''IS''' his quirk.
* ''Anime/{{Naruto}}'':
** Rock Lee and his sensei Might Gai are notorious for the waterfall-of-tears look.
** Naruto and Inari perform some Ocular Gushing when they say goodbye to each other at the end of the Land of Waves arc despite being determined not to.
* Kurami, after losing to Sora in the RealTimeStrategy equivalent of a chess game in ''LightNovel/NoGameNoLife'', cries in this matter. It's oddly adorable too.
* ''Manga/OnePiece'' tends to use the cascading water effect when characters are extremely upset. Oddly enough, it uses a somewhat subdued version for dramatic effect. The logical conclusion ends with a giant, whose tears are compared to a deluge.
* Frequently in ''Manga/OuranHighSchoolHostClub'', both anime & manga, by Tamaki (almost every other frame) and the Hitachiins in response to any example of Haruhi's "cuteness". Honey also, for Moe points.
* ''Anime/{{Pokemon}}'':
** This happens occasionally with the Team Rocket trio whenever they witness the Pokémon they're supposed to catch face hardship or do something emotionally significant, such as when Pikachu almost agreed to evolve into a Raichu with the Thunderstone in hopes of winning against Gym Leader L.T. Surge's Raichu.
** This is a RunningGag for Ash's Torkoal.
** One of Pikachu's cuter moments was after its [[TrademarkFavoriteFood ketchup bottle]] got slashed open by a Scyther. The next scene showed it doing this, holding the open bottle.
** Cute crybaby Ash tends to do this a lot in the early seasons.
** [[spoiler:Solgaleo]], at least only as an infant Cosmog, cries like this.
* Sasami in the ''Anime/PrettySammy'' series on occasion.
* ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf''
** Sōun Tendō. In fact, one reading of his name in Japanese means "Crying Man".
** And in the manga, when Happōsai needs Ranma's tears for a FountainOfYouth potion, poking a pressure point on Ranma's back causes him to literally ''blast'' a torrent of tears out his eyes, so that Happōsai has to catch them in a bucket.
* ''Manga/{{Saikano}}'' has this happen to most characters dozens of times in every chapter. No-one is resistant to this trope. The most notable gusher is actually the robot girl/[[PersonOfMassDestruction "Ultimate Weapon"]] Chise, who seems to cry even when she's simply surprised.
* The title character in ''Franchise/SailorMoon''. Usagi will do this at the drop of a hat, but the most common trigger is being called dumb, usually by her mom, Shingo or Rei. The ''very first episode of the anime'' is called "The Crybaby: Usagi's Beautiful Transformation"!
* ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'':
** In ''Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie'', Sara does this when wrongfully accused by Knuckles of piloting the Metal Robotnik robot. It is rather unfortunate that Robotnik/Eggman is sitting in the path and attempts to jump away from the cascade.
** Or, if you are watching [[Website/Fireball20XL Sonic Bastardized]], accused by Knuckles for GoingCommando.
** Charmy Bee [[http://www.pictureshack.ru/images/3835Charmyiscrying.jpg does this]] in episode 59 from ''Anime/SonicX''.
* Certain ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'' manga books would usually have certain characters do this over silly things.
** An example is in [[http://24.media.tumblr.com/041e19b1c135e5bf06bee00e3761cf8b/tumblr_miyh6rTIQO1rrftcdo1_500.jpg this panel,]] where Yoshi, because of his grown weight, makes Mario, Peach, Luigi, and even his ''mother'' do one.
* ''Manga/TheWorldGodOnlyKnows'':
** Keima at one point claims he's not crying, he's enjoying a hot spring! Complete with Keima suddenly being in a small hot spring filled by his tears. [[ImagineSpotting Which other characters apparently see and comment upon.]] Unless he really made one instantly...
** In Chapter 78, Keima cries a river after [[spoiler: losing to Diana in a shogi match]].

[[folder:Eastern Animation]]
* [=TuTu=] and [=XiaoGuai=] both do this in an episode of ''Animation/DaErDuoTuTu'' when they are reunited after [=XiaoGuai=] ([=TuTu=]'s pet cat) gets lost. The steady stream of tears ''wash off [=XiaoGuai=]'s dirty body''.

[[folder:Films -- Animation]]
* Almost every Creator/HayaoMiyazaki film has at least one instance where a character will cry massive gobs of tears the size of golf balls.
* ''Disney/TheLionKing'':
** Timon and Pumbaa. At any slightly emotional moment.
** In the sequel, ''Simba's Pride'', they cried at the marriage festival between Kiara and Kovu until they drenched a disgruntled Zazu.
* Daredevil Dan from ''WesternAnimation/{{Foodfight}}'' projectile "cries" ([[SpecialEffectsFailure supposedly]]) chocolate tears in an early scene, but the terrible animation makes them look like... [[{{Squick}} something else]].
* In Creator/{{Pixar}}'s ''WesternAnimation/InsideOut'', Sadness played this trope when she jumped onto a cloud while Joy was searching for her.
** She also play this trope on short clips (e.g. Sadness cries a lot of tears after Joy shows a flower to her.).

* Happens in ''Literature/TheLegendOfRahAndTheMuggles'' when the title character's brother sails away with a band of miscreants, to the extent that ''a flood is triggered that swamps the boats''. Intended as a TearJerker, came out as just {{Narm}}.
* ''Literature/AliceInWonderland'' has a chapter called "The Pool of Tears". When Alice becomes a giant after eating the cookies marked "Eat Me", she starts crying piteously, flooding the room with her tears. When she drinks from the bottle marked "Drink Me", she shrinks so small that she nearly drowns in the pool of tears she shed as a giant.

[[folder:Live-Action TV]]
* Mirai in ''Series/UltramanMebius'' streams tears when Ryuu speaks about their "friendship," and it's hilariously epic. Also doubles as HoYay.
-->'''Ryuu:''' Mirai, you dork.
* ''Series/PennAndTellerBullshit'' uses this trope during its episode on recycling, parodying the "crying Indian" PSA with a statue of a Native American ''spraying'' water out of its eyes all over the place.
* Liz Lemon of ''Series/ThirtyRock'' developed the ability to cry waterfalls after some off-brand laser surgery from [[BackAlleyDoctor Dr. Spaceman]]... [[SubvertedTrope except that]] [[BodyHorror the tears came out of her]] ''[[BodyHorror mouth]]''.
* On the ''Series/SesameStreet'' game show sketch: "The Crying Game Show". The contestant who cries harder will win the game. Originally, Pierre Blue cried harder than the others and was the winner and wins The Sonny Friendly Teddy Bear. But Sonny gets upsets and about it and cries even harder than him and made Sonny Friendly the winner. And caused Pierre Blue and the other contestant sob in failure after the announcer blurts that [[Main/AllOrNothing There is no consolation prize]].
* Parodied and invoked at one point in the French Canadian series ''Series/LeCoeurASesRaisons'', with Ashley who is seen "crying with the intensity of a character of a Japanese cartoon", [[InvokedTrope as she puts it]].

* ''Absolutely ([[RefrainFromAssuming Story of a Girl]])'' by Nine Days, "This is the story of a girl/who cried a river and drowned the whole world."
* In the Music/{{Genesis}} song, "Squonk", the title character, weeping for its own ugliness and ostracization, dissolves into a "pool of tears" while captured in a huntsman's sack. The myth of the Squonk [[ShownTheirWork involves this trait]].
* "Lost In The Harbour" by Music/TomWaits from ''Music/{{Alice}}''.
--> ''And then I will fill the ocean back up with my tears''
* "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall" of ''Mylo Xyloto'' by Music/{{Coldplay}} certainly invokes this trope.

[[folder:Myths & Religion]]
* The ''[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_Brothers Ten Brothers]]'' Chinese myth takes this trope UpToEleven - the youngest brother can ''literally'' cry a river. The details of the story (including the number of brothers) vary, depending on the version, but the story revolves around a set of brothers with superpowers fighting against an evil antagonist and trying to avoid causing their youngest brother to cry.
* As a literary trope, Ocular Gushers go back to Literature/TheBible. The prophet Jeremiah ''wants'' this, saying, "Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!" (Jeremiah 9:1) Both his books ([[Literature/BookOfJeremiah Jeremiah]] and [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Lamentations]]) are somewhat depressing.

* This seems to be based on a Japanese bunraku puppet technique used to show mourning, in which ribbons would flow from the eyes. It was also used in the musical version of ''Disney/TheLionKing''.

[[folder:Video Games]]
* Hatty Hattington of [[VideoGame/BattleBlockTheater BattleBlock Theater]] provides a shining example of this after his HeroicBSOD.
* ''VideoGame/SuperPrincessPeach'', where this is an ''ability''. To clarify, its main use is to let you run really fast, but you can water buds that grow into gigantic vines with your tears (without any negative effects from all the salt in those tears) and aids in defeating a boss.
* Luigi does this often in the ''VideoGame/MarioAndLuigi'' series.
* Toads in ''VideoGame/PaperMarioStickerStar'' cry that way.
* ''Franchise/StreetFighter'' has Dan Hibiki, who has them when happy almost as often as when sad.
* The ''VideoGame/{{Worms}}''-style MMO ''VideoGame/GunBound'' has certain vehicles (particularly the Triceratops) that will cry like this if they are defeated and respawning is not enabled.
* Rise of ''VideoGame/{{Persona 4}}'' does this a ''lot'', but only when it's tears of relief, so it helps [[PlayedForLaughs lighten the mood]]. When Teddie started crying like this too, they hugged each other for support... until Teddie tried to cop a feel and Rise decked him.
* Several cases in the MMORPG ''VideoGame/RagnarokOnline'':
** The Dumpling Kid's death animation doesn't really involve its death ... just this trope.
** The /sob emote displays a word balloon (not so) smiley face crying two streams of tears, with a torrent of teardrops falling down.
* In ''VideoGame/OsuTatakaeOuendan'', the titular team sports a MANLY version of this in the break scenes of each game's final stage.
* In ''VideoGame/TheBindingOfIsaac'', two items can achieve this effect: the Sad Onion and the Torn Photo. [[OnionTears The Sad Onion is obvious enough]], while the Torn Photo is a more classic emotional example, with less pronounced gushers than the Onion.
* In ''Snoopy's Grand Adventure'', after Snoopy defeats King Totem in the "[[UnderwaterRuins Temple of Bunnies]]" world, King Totem cries so hard, he floods the temple with his tears. This gives Snoopy the opportunity to swim in them up to Linus so he can rescue him.
* In ''VideoGame/HolyUmbrella'', numerous characters, including the BigBad, spray jets of water out of their eyes when saddened.
* Such fate befalls the Miis afflicted with the "Crying" status in ''VideoGame/{{Miitopia}}''. Some enemies like [[OurBansheesAreLouder Banshees]] can also do as such in order to inflict said condition on the player's party.
* Happens whenever Moe cries in ''VideoGame/TheLegendaryStarfy''.
* ''Franchise/AceAttorney'':
** Larry Butz has a tendency to do this.
** Ellen Wyatt, the defendant in the ''[[VisualNovel/PhoenixWrightAceAttorneySpiritOfJustice Spirit of Justice]]'' DLC case "Turnabout Time Traveler," also does this. She actually carries a frying pan with her to catch the tears before they hit the ground!

[[folder:Web Animation]]
* Peach does the full-on Fire Hydrant Wail after the recounting of [[Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog Sonic]]'s tragic BackStory in ''WebAnimation/SuperMarioBrosZ''.
* In ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'' Volume 2 Episode 2, Ruby does this after Yang kicks her butt at a ''TabletopGame/MagicTheGathering''-style card game. Weiss later joins in after Yang creams her as well.
* In the ''WebAnimation/DeathBattle'' episode ''White Tigerzord vs Epyon'', [[spoiler: After defeating Tommy, Zechs is shown crying over the remains of Noin and the Gundam she was piloting as she was accidentally blown up by Tommy Oliver's White Tigerzord before the battle. Zordon also cries like this so hard his tank starts flooding, and he isn't even aware of it]].

[[folder:Web Comics]]
* The ''VideoGame/RagnarokOnline''-based {{webcomic}} ''[[http://www.adultimum.net/rw/ Ragnarok Wisdom]]'' has Zelse, whose constant stream of tears is his defining trait. In fact, not only have his tears [[http://www.adultimum.net/rw/108.htm flooded the world]], but on one occasion, he used them to ''[[http://www.adultimum.net/rw/114.htm attack someone.]]'' [[http://adultimum.net/rw/297/ One April Fools' flash]] even sees Zelse [[spoiler:and [[Manga/{{Naruto}} Kakashi]]]] flood the ''universe'' this way.
* ''Webcomic/WapsiSquare'': [[http://wapsisquare.com/comic/laughing-her-ass-off/ Jin]].
* Ma-ri cries like this in ''Webcomic/OrangeMarmalade'' when she's injured and Jae-min is carrying her to the hospital. Due to her vampire nature, she's acting like she's drunk because she's weak.
* In ''Webcomic/{{Housepets}}'', Sasha has, as the episode title puts it, [[http://www.housepetscomic.com/2013/03/01/eyes-like-faucets/ "Eyes Like Faucets."]]
* In ''WebComic/TrixieVs'' Trixie does this, after recounting various pets she lost during her childhood and stating that she's sticking to a pet rock for now, [[TemptingFate it will not die on her]]. Guess what somehow happens.

[[folder:Web Original]]
* Creator/FreddieWong does a hilarious live-action version of this at the end of the action short "Gun Size Matters" when the ActionGirl played by Shenae Grimes [[DidNotGetTheGirl leaves him]] for a guy who pulled a 360 No Scope on the last {{Mook}} with a Barrett sniper rifle before landing into his car. According to the Behind the Scenes vid for the movie, Freddie and crew used a garden hose for this effect, primarily inspired by the old Bugs Bunny cartoons.
* The "Your tears are delicious" [[MemeticMutation meme]] usually depicts people or characters enjoying getting blasted with streams of water, implying that the recipient of these images is doing some gushers.

[[folder:Western Animation]]
* Occasionally seen in ''Animation/{{Pucca}}'' and, in the case of Pucca herself, her waterfall tears possess waterfall ''force'' which sends anybody she looks at while crying flying away from her. There is actually a moment where Garu walks up to a waterfall looking for Pucca, looks up, and it turns out the waterfall is really ''Pucca's tears''.
* Lots of people cry like this in ''WesternAnimation/CodenameKidsNextDoor''.
** Numbuh Three has broken down crying, complete with Ocular Gushers, more than a few times during the series, usually as a way of working on another character's sympathies.
** And in "Operation: C.L.U.E.S.", it's revealed that this is a trait she shares with her father, Kani Sanban.
** Lizzy sometimes indulges in this too, usually to guilt-trip Numbuh One into going out with her.
** Toiletnator opens the gushers in "Operation: F.L.U.S.H." after being denied by the other villains.
** In "Operation: P.O.O.L.", the MirrorUniverse counterpart of Father, the series' BigBad, Daddy, also does this on one occasion.
* ''WesternAnimation/DudeThatsMyGhost''
** Frequently a large part of Billy's diva tantrums, although whether it's a side effect of being a ghost (he tends to be more cartoony than the other characters) or he's always been able to do it has yet to be shown.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{SpongeBob SquarePants}}'' tends to play with this trope a lot, producing such ocular-gushing gems as:
** [=SpongeBob=] spraying Ocular Gushers into a mug, then drinking the contents before spraying again, spraying teardrops like a garden sprinkler, complete with sound-effects, and a few which seem to have the force of a firehose on full blast.
** On one memorable occasion, [=SpongeBob=] cried so hard that the tears flooded his house, and when Squidward opened the front door, [[OpeningTheFloodGates the resulting stream of water knocked him over.]]
** When his grandma ignored and didn't coddle him because he wanted to be treated as an adult, he eventually snapped and cried until his tears flooded her entire house. Later Grandma pulls a plug on her house's floor to drain the tears away.
** ''The [=SpongeBob SquarePants=] Movie'' includes a scene in which [=SpongeBob=] and Patrick are spraying streams of water directly into each others' mouths, much to the disgust of Princess Mindy.
** And in another scene where Mr. Krabs loses his millionth dollar to a giant clam, he cries so much in one scene he literally forms faucets from his eyes.
** Also Pearl. An early episode use the waterfall example when Pearl approaches her father in tears flooding the Krusty Krab after her prom boyfriend dumped her.
** Occurs with Sandy when she cries: her helmet gets all filled up and she pulls the handle to flush her tears.
** [=SpongeBob=] once made Squidward a sweater out his own tears. ItMakesSenseInContext (not a whole lot of sense, but some).
** ... and keep in mind that this is all ''underwater''.
* Eduardo, the [[TheMcCoy highly emotional]] GentleGiant from ''WesternAnimation/FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends'', does this often.
* Surprisingly, this happened to ''Batman'' in an episode of ''[[WesternAnimation/{{Superfriends}} The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians]]'' when the Scarecrow forces him to have a flashback of his parents' death.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheRenAndStimpyShow''. Stimpy cries so hard his EYES POP OUT OF HIS SKULL!
* ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'':
** Illustrated above: in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E2ElementsOfHarmony Friendship is Magic, Part 2]]", Pinkie Pie is so touched by the reunion of Princess Celestia and her newly reformed sister, her tears form twin waterfalls... until she realizes this is the [[LifeOfTheParty perfect opportunity for a party]], that is. [[MoodWhiplash She's completely back to her old self before the last of her tears hit the ground.]]
** In "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E7DragonShy Dragon Shy]]", the dragon's tears are about average-sized to him, but for the ponies below it might as well be raining heavily.
** In "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E12BabyCakes Baby Cakes]]", Pinkie agreed to babysit her bosses' twin babies. After [[BadlyBatteredBabysitter spending an entire episode trying to be responsible]], it becomes too much for her and she breaks down crying.
** Pinkie does it again in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E15TheSuperSpeedyCiderSqueezy6000 The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000]]" when it looks like the Apples have lost their farm.
** And again in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E23PonyvilleConfidential Ponyville Confidential]]", when the column claims that "Pinkie Pie is an Out-of-Control Party Animal." She breaks down and screams, "It's true! I do have a problem!"
** Fluttershy does the same thing in the episode after being humiliated by an articles which claims she gets tail extensions.
** Sweetie Belle does this in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E4OneBadApple One Bad Apple]]" when Babs Seed, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon take over the Cutie Mark Crusader clubhouse. Apple Bloom even breaks out an umbrella to shield herself from Sweetie Belle's tears.
** Poor Pinkie Pie gets another one in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagics3E5MagicDuel Magic Duel]]" after Trixie removes her mouth and she is unable to eat cupcakes.
** It appears to run in Sweetie Belle's family; Rarity also does this in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS5E2TheCutieMapPart2 The Cutie Map]]" when she realizes that her tastes in curtains have changed.
** "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS6E26ToWhereAndBackAgainPart2 To Where and Back Again Part 2]]": Several of the changelings disguised as Fluttershy produce cascading streams of tears to better guilt-trip Discord.
** Rainbow sheds massive gobs of tears (although not in the waterfall variety) in "Tanks For The Memories" when she doesn't want Tank to hibernate.
** Spike in "Over A Barrel" after it seems that Chief Buffalo died from a pie to the face.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Wakfu}}'':
** Ruel's Gobbowl friend, Tolot, springs a leak in Season 1 Episode 10.
** Lady Glagla also sports a pair of gushers in Season 2 Episode 14.
* ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls'':
** The episode "The City Of Frownsville" has Lou Gubrious, a very miserable scientist who cries fountains of tears channeling his sadness into a ray set upon Townsville that [[EverybodyCries makes everyone--even the Powerpuff Girls--cry tears]] to the point where it threatens the city. Upon being the happiest person in Townsville at that point, he changes his name to Hal Larious, only to succumb to tears again after Bubbles (in a vain attempt to make a crying pigeon laugh) drops her banana and Hal slips on it, causing everyone to laugh at him.
** Bubbles cries these pretty [[https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mNEfDqmqLu8 often.]]
** Buttercup of all people cries until she makes a puddle in "Cover Up" after her blanket was lost.
* ''WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddy'': Any time Ed cries turn out like this. In "Who's Minding the Ed?", for example, Ed bawls like this after he realizes Rolf took back his animals.
-->'''Ed:''' Come back little ones! '''I MISS MY FURRY FRIENDS, GUYS!!!!!!'''\\
'''Eddy:''' Aw, you're better off without 'em, blubberpuss!\\
'''Ed:''' Don't talk to me.
* Justified in a way in ''WesternAnimation/IAmWeasel''. Ocular gushers come from a disease that keeps the person constantly crying like this. Weasel cures the disease, but this has the side effect of drying up all the rivers and oceans, so he purposefully gives himself the disease to keep a constant supply of water up.
* Laney Penn of ''WesternAnimation/{{Grojband}}'' does this in the episode "One-Plant Band" when Corey calls her out on always being right while he's under the influence of a parody of [[Theatre/LittleShopOfHorrors Audrey II]].
* A RunningGag with Penny Ling in the 2012 ''[[WesternAnimation/LittlestPetShop2012 Littlest Pet Shop]]'', the first and most noticeable time being in "Penny For Your Laughs" when she has a breakdown when Pepper makes the mistake of targeting her for her insensitive comedy routine. It's taken UpToEleven as her tears ''literally'' flood the day camp area and almost drown Pepper. It's managed to carry over into the toys, as in the franchise's Spring 2014 line there's one set that comes with a figure of her with molded, transparent streams of tears.
* Guy Hamdon of ''WesternAnimation/SheZow'' when his sister Kelly takes him to see a chick flick. It's so intense that he briefly floods the theatre.
