"My nipples look like Milk Duds!"
Some guys have a tendency to redefine a shot's focal point once
the shirts come off.
Not to be confused with
Nipple and Dimed, which is the
Scenery Censor for women's nipples.
Examples:
Film
- Wimp Lo from Kung Pow! Enter the Fist:
Wimp Lo: "Take a look around... because I rule, baby!"
Chosen One: "And who do you rule? The large, dark-nippled people?"
- The widely reviled Batman costume from Batman & Robin.
- Which also appeared in Batman Forever. And let's not forget Robin also has it (As does Batgirl, but so subtle as to be easily missed).
- Ozymandias has them in Watchmen, as a parody of the Batsuit mentioned above, though they're not nearly as noticeable (and make more sense with his Greek-statue aesthetic).
- The second Silk Spectre's latex costume has molded nipples too. What makes this Noticeable Nipples and not Nipple and Dimed is the fact that they're not actually the actress's- they're little knobs on her costume.
- Mark Linn-Baker (Larry of Perfect Strangers fame) did an obscure, forgettable movie called Bare Essentials, where he spent most of his time shirtless on a desert island. One nipple was hairy and the other nipple was not. It was fairly distracting.
- A couple of Bruce Lee films had occasions of nipple focus. This usually had to do with a character being Japanese; there's some odd Chinese stereotype about Japanese people having different nipples.
Live-Action TV
- Mr. Eko and Sawyer on Lost. And although he almost never appears without a shirt on, John Locke's nipples are almost always noticeable under his T-shirt.
- Gary Thorpe from What I Like About You spent almost an entire episode entirely shirtless for some reason. Everyone is Distracted by the Sexy. At one point, his friend Henry is trying to have a conversation with Gary and stops mid-sentence to say "Your nipples are just right there."
- On Community, the Walking Shirtless Scene Vaughn is referred to as both "Tiny Nipples" and "Micronipples".
- Jeff's Suspiciously Similar Substitute, Oliver, from Coupling had this problem, when he discovered after a long drought that his nipples had 'activated' and were constantly, noticeably hard, even through his shirt.
- The people on boycott the caf were distracted in an opening scene of an episode of Degrassi where Spinner and Sean were both shirtless. "Marco can't stop staring at their nipples, and who can blame him? It's Spinner!"
- There is an absolutely fantastic instance of this in Glee when Sam Evans joins the swim team. The coach, played by NeNe Leakes from Real Housewives of Atlanta, before letting him join, rattles off a pretty impressive speech that seems to serve only to point out his major physical flaws. "Sam Evans, you are one weird looking kid. I have never seen lips like that on a white boy. And one of your nipples is higher than the other. You must have had to overcome a lot with them crooked nipples."
- A round of "Scenes from a Hat" on Whose Line Is It Anyway? once had "Funny names for bras" as a category. Wayne Brady's contribution was "Nip-Ups".
- Craig Ferguson frequently makes jokes about this phenomenon. Most of the time, he's talking about his.
