Nicknames can say something about a guy. A deformity, a mask, or the looks of a person can give him a Name-Face Name. A Name-Face Name is when a character's nickname comes from a characteristic of his face.

Often leads to OnlyKnownByTheirNickname.

Compare CaptainColorbeard.

!!Examples:

* The names of at least four of the mecha in Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann are derived from their faces:
** "Lagann" - Enveloping Face
** "Gunmen" - Huge Face
** "Mugann" - Faceless
** "Lazengann" - Spiral Face
* Noface from Anime/SpiritedAway.
* Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureGoldenWind has Baby Face, the Stand of Melone.

\\

* Franchise/Batman's foes include the Ventriloquist's puppet Scarface, ComicBook/TwoFace, Clayface, and the less popular Baby-Face and False Face.
* ComicBook/TheBoys parodied the trope in the Herogasm miniseries, where it's established that one of the villains fought by BatmanParody Black Noir is named Sexface.
* Goldface from Comicbook/GreenLantern.
* Arseface from Comicbook/Preacher.
* [=FuckFace=] (pictured above) from ComicBook/FuryMAX by Creator/GarthEnnis, writer of the aforementioned Preacher.
--> Colonel Gagarin: A sad story, General. A gentle giant for most of his youth--then an unfortunate incident while shark-fishing--and now... Well. Still a giant, at any rate.
* Taserface, a little-known villain from the original version of the ComicBook/GuardiansOfTheGalaxy.

\\

* Franchise/TheLionKing: Scar, and his heir, Kovu. (Kovu is Swahili for scar.)

\\

* Ghostface from Film/Scream, who is called that after the white mask that he wears.
* Leatherface from Film/TheTexasChainsawMassacre films. His own face is messed up, so he makes new ones from the skins of his and his family's victims. And since the dead skin goes bad fast, he's constantly looking for new material....
* The eponymous Film/1983, even though he is never called that in the film. He claims that he got the said scar in a fight when he was a kid, and the police questioning him about it try to piss him off by asking him if he really got it from performing cunnilingus (or from "eating apple pie", depending on the version you're watching).
* Babyface from Film/TheHillsRunRed. His name comes from the white baby mask made from porcelain and bones that he wears.
* The killer in the SlasherMovie parody Film/DudeBroPartyMassacre3 is called Motherface, because she wears her dead mother's face as a mask.
* Taserfase from Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol2. Nearly everyone else in the movie thinks the name is ridiculous.

\\

* Metal Beak from Guardians of Ga'Hoole. (Incidentally, he was *not* the same character as the Metal Beak of the movie. Nyra never was called Metal Beak in the books, only Kludd was.)
* 2Face from .
* Brightpaw from Literature/WarriorCats has her name changed to Lostface after she got mauled by the dogs.
* Babyface Marshall in Literature/RubyRedfort, called this for his adorableness and inability to grow facial hair (but don’t be fooled - he’s a vicious murderer).

\\

* An episode of Series/SavedByTheBell had a kid called Craterface for having acne all over his face.
* Pizza Face from the "Earboy" sketches on Series/AllThat.
* On Series/PersonOfInterest, Elias's right hand Anthony Marconi is nicknamed (and credited as) Scarface.
* The Office: The villain of Michael's film (played by Jim) is Gold Face, a man whose face became coated in gold due to an industrial accident.

\\

* ComicStrip/DickTracy: Pruneface, Littleface and Flyface.

\\

* The Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Game has Necroface, a giant tentacled zombie baby head, and Birdface, a bird-man.

\\

* Metal Face (called "Black Face" in Japan) from VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles1; so named because Mechon don't usually have faces. Other "Face" Mechon shows up throughout the game as well.
* Skull Face from VideoGame/MetalGearSolidV lives up to the name: because of chemical exposure his skin clings tightly to his facial bones, and his skin is tinted blueish-grey besides
* The Videogame/TwistedMetal series has Dollface, a woman who literally has a doll-like mask stuck to her face ("dollface" is also old-timey slang for an attractive woman) and No-Face, whose face was severely disfigured by a purposely botched surgery.

\\

* What's-her-face from WebAnimation/TeenGirlSquad.
* In WebAnimation/TheGrosseryGang webseries, Putrid Pizza gets renamed as "Pizza Face", while Grub Sub gets renamed "Meathead", and Rotten Egg is renamed as "Egghead".

\\

* The titular WesternAnimation/Braceface.
* Captain Huggyface from WesternAnimation/WordGirl.
* Steelbeak on WesternAnimation/DarkwingDuck
* WesternAnimation/Futurama has Lunar Park's mascot Craterface.
* WesternAnimation/SuperMarioWorld: "Who's an egghead, eggface?"
* WesternAnimation/Metalocalypse: William Murderface. His face doesn't murder people, but he is Gonk fuck-ugly.
* The titular WesternAnimation/Fangface.
* WesternAnimation/TheBeatles episode "No Reply" had master of disguise criminal Anyface, who causes confusion when he takes on Paul's likeness.
* The Bakshi WesternAnimation/MightyMouse episode "Night of the Bat-Bat" shows Bat-Bat perusing portraits of villains which include Tenface and the aptly named No Face.

\\

* Baby-Face Nelson.
* Boaty [=McBoatface=] was originally suggested via internet poll as a name for the RRS Sir David Attenborough. The name was instead used to name an AUV carried on said boat.
* Al 'Scarface' Capone.
* Pizza-face is a common insult for people that have acne all over their face.
* Boaty [=McBoatface=] was itself a reference to a photo that went viral showing an owl enclosure in a zoo, with a sign listing the names people who had adopted owls had given them, including [=Hooty McOwlface=].
