Matte World Digital
(also known simply as Matte World) was an effects studio that provided matte paintings for several movies and commercials. (They also have provided CG Animation and miniatures when the need arises).
The studio was established in 1989 by Craig Barron, Michael Pangrazio and Krys Demkowicz as an offshoot to
Industrial Light and Magic and has worked with ILM nearly a dozen times. They were also the first to utilize the "radiosity" technique in the movie
Casinonote The Other Wiki has a page on this particular technique
and the last to use traditional matte painting methods in
Titanic.
