Daughter of Randhir Kapoor and his wife Babita, granddaughter of Bollywood legend Raj Kapoor, Karisma was born into a clan of actors who never let their daughters act, only their sons. Supported by her mother, she was the first to buck that trend, building a solid but generic career as a girl-next-door type, with a few artier projects. She took a long hiatus after her marriage, as Bollywood actresses often do, but is now working on a comeback.
