Issues And Answers
The National Broadcasting Company had a Sunday morning talk show called Meet the Press, that it started on television in 1947 after initially beginning on radio in 1945. CBS comes along and creates a similar program called Face The Nation in 1954. Deciding that they needed to have something to go against the other two networks, ABC started a competing program called Issues And Answers in 1960.

In 1981, ABC cancelled Issues And Answers and replaced it with This Week with David Brinkley.

All of these types of shows are more-or-less the same. Some politician or public figure comes on to talk-talk with the host over some current issue or event of significant public importance.
