The National Broadcasting Company had a Sunday morning talk show called
Meet the Press, that it started on television in 1947 after initially beginning on radio in 1945.
CBS comes along and creates a similar program called
Face The Nation in 1954. Deciding that they needed to have something to go against the other two networks,
ABC started a competing program called
Issues And Answers in 1960.
In 1981, ABC cancelled
Issues And Answers and replaced it with
This Week with David Brinkley.
All of these types of shows are more-or-less the same. Some politician or public figure comes on to talk-talk with the host over some current issue or event of significant public importance.
