A sub-trope of Loving a Shadow, this is where the villain or a morally ambiguous character becomes obsessed with a character due to their witnessing said character going berserk and kill in a very messy or bloody way. Many times, there will be times where the villain will be somewhere watching the character fight violently and appear extremely turned on, saying something along the lines of "Marvelous..." If The Protagonist is no longer violent like that, often the villain will go to great lengths to make them revert back (these lengths normally involve kidnapping or killing their friends or love interests.)

If the villain/morally ambiguous character starts straight-out describing their euphoric emotions when they saw the good character massacre others, expect the good character to be very disturbed and/or confused.

This can lead to the villain becoming a Stalker with a Crush. Compare Hemo Erotic and Monster Fangirl. It may lead to lots of Foe Yay Shipping or No Yay. Compare and contrast Power is Sexy. See also Nightmare Fetishist.

Anime and Manga

• Yuji towards Kitano after being defeated by him in Angel Densetsu. After some Character Development it evolves into real friendship, with Yuji declaring that Kitano is the best friend he's ever known.
• Assassination Classroom: While love isn't involved in the equation, this still is how the Reaper became an assassin. When he was a child, he witnessed his father being offed by a hitman. This moment would usually be Harmful to Minors, but instead fascinated the young child, as the hitman's movements were so graceful and perfect (And granted, the fact that the boy's father was an abusive asshole probably helped). The boy asked the assassin to take him as an apprentice on the spot, and eventually grew to become the world's best and most feared hitman himself.
• Graham from Baccano! had a bit of an In Love With Your Carnage moment when fighting Chane. Even more so when fighting Ladd Russo.
  • Lua seems positively ecstatic when Ladd is giving his speech about murdering the other train passengers in the third episode. Not that Ladd is a paragon of virtue by any means, but it's that kind of series.
  • When Ladd saw bodies massacred by Rail Tracer, he was dancing like a 5-year-old child in a puddle of blood, laughing maniacally and screaming "I CANNOT WAIT TO MEET THE GENIUS WHO'S RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS MASTERPIECE!"
• Berserk: Griffith toward Guts. He states that Guts' fighting is "magnificent" and for that reason wants him to join his Band of the Hawk. Their relationship becomes much more possessive as time goes by.
  • Later in the manga, post-Eclipse, it's disturbingly implied that Guts has this toward insane Casca when he finds her naked and soaked in the blood of the men who tried to gang-rape her after she killed all of them. Various panel shots have the Male Gaze over Casca's body, and it's implicated that despite the disturbing scenario of both Casca's insanity and her near-assault, Guts is turned on by this display (possibly due to years of being desensitized to violence and being emotionally depraved after so much trauma), which leads him to nearly rape Casca himself soon after finding her. Guts just barely stops himself from going through, but it leaves him SEVERELY fucked up and EXTREMELY aware how far off the deep end he's been going.
  • Slan of the Godhand also feels this way towards Guts, though it's more lust instead of love. When he impales her with the Dragonslayer, she's smiling.
• Black Butler:
  • This is how Grell becomes infatuated with Madam Red, though the latter is actually more of a Tragic Villain. Grell also fell for Sebastian because he is a sadistic demon.
  • Claude claims to have affection for Ciel and Alois because of the unstable jaded nature to their souls and their ability to carry out violence.
  • Hannah sticks with Alois despite his mistreatment of her and proclaims she loves Alois for his unpredictable instability and passionate nature.
  • While the other two Trancy triplets claim they don't like it, Timber states that he could "be willing to" love Alois for how heated, passionate, and violent he can be.
• Creed from Black Cat becomes Train's Stalker with a Crush due to adoring Train's swift and precise assassination skills. Creed killed Saya because Train stopped killing, and later tries to kill Train's other friends.
• Revy from Black Lagoon is quite appealed by Ginji Matsuzaki even before he draws his sword. When he pulls off an actual bullet slice and proceeds to literally disarm Chaka, she begs him to fight her. In a tone that demonstrates pretty obvious arousal...for Revy, anyway.
• This is a running theme in Bleach:
  • Ichigo first catches Kenpachi's attention after word reaches him that Ichigo bested Madarame Ikkaku, one of the strongest Shinigami in his division, and only grows more excited after Ikkaku himself commends Ichigo's strength. Kenpachi spends the next few days trying to find Ichigo in order to see for himself if his strength really is all that, and when they finally clash Kenpachi concedes that, while Ichigo's strength really is impressive for a human, he ultimately finds him disappointing. Then Ichigo gains a Heroic Second Wind after a pep talk from Zangetsu, and Kenpachi grows practically ecstatic at Ichigo managing to make him bleed, deeming him strong enough to be worth not holding back on. By the end of their fight Kenpachi admits it was the greatest fight he's had in years, and eventually helps Ichigo and his friends rescue Rukia from execution just so he'll have a chance to fight Ichigo again (not that Ichigo returns the sentiment).
  • Grimmjow gets crazily excited whenever Ichigo proves to have gotten stronger during their battles together. While he initially thought of Ichigo as an annoyance that scarred his chest, he gradually grew more and more obsessed with defeating Ichigo. Some time after their second fight, Grimmjow's attitude towards Ichigo grows more intense, and he becomes determined to beat him.
  • Kenpachi challenges Nnoitra after the latter grows bored from fighting an exhausted Ichigo, and happily trades blows with the Espada as Nnoitra grows increasingly frustrated and confused. Tellingly, Kenpachi considers Nnoitra such a Worthy Opponent that he spares his life in the hopes that they can fight again someday, something Nnoitra, a Death Seeker, takes exception to.
  • Kenpachi and Unohana both remember their first fight fondly, being the first time they met someone strong enough to not die in one hit, and want to finish it some day. When Kenpachi ends up killing Unohana he's devastated that they can't fight any more.
• In the Blood+ manga, Solomon was like this for Saya when she goes berserk and kills. To put it in his words: "Wonderful... now that's our bride. Beautiful, but drenched in blood. It makes me want you, Saya." He later tells her that it was Love at First Sight because she looked so beautiful when she fought in Vietnam.
• In Brave10, Kamanosuke gets fascinated by Saizo's killing intent during their first fight, and ends up joining the Braves as the Token Evil Teammate so he can see more of it and eventually get Saizo to kill him. It crosses over into Hemo Erotic as well.
• Liang Qi of Canaan is like this for Alphard. She appears calm and even-tempered, but is in fact unwavering, merciless, and very much obsessed with admiring and idolizing the absolutely badass Alphard to the point of being in love with her. To her frustration, however, Alphard does not reciprocate her rather twisted feelings and instead ignores or even proceeds to ridicule her from time to time. Because Alphard seems to have taken a special interest in observing Canaan's reactions to every plot carried out by Snake, Liang Qi sees the elimination of Canaan as a way to win back Alphard's attention.
• In the manga version of Chrono Crusade, Aion gets a huge grin on his face when he witnesses the carnage left behind after Chrono's Berserk Button is pushed. He later compliments Chrono heavily for the fight, and when Chrono starts trying to use more self-control in his battles he strongly expresses disappointment in Chrono "weakening."
• Diethard Ried from Code Geass is fascinated with Magnificent Bastards: he joins Black Knights after Lelouch purportedly blows up the leadership of fellow/rival resistance group to take control over the latter and later defects to Schneizel, believing that he is even crueler than Lulu. He is wrong and it doesn't end well for him.
• Implied in Codename: Sailor V: when he narrates of his past life in the Silver Millennium and how he fell for the Sailor Venus of the past, Adonis gushes on her incomparable fighting abilities, even calling her the Goddess of War.
• In the Danganronpa Spin-Off series Killer Killer, Takumi began his career as a Serial-Killer Killer after falling in love with Mukuro Ikusaba while watching her slaughter his classmates. Even though she's long dead he still fetishized her, even adopting her Psycho Knife Nut combat style and coming up with an elaborate rating system for his victims based on his idealized perception of her.
• Machiya from DEAD Tube gets visibly depressed, uninterested more like, due to Mashiro inviting him to film her having sex with someone else. Before any penetration happens Mashiro beats her "lover" to death with a Bat; during this turn of events Machiya becomes horny, showing a visible budge in his pants.
• Deadman Wonderland: Genkaku is this way towards Nagi. He tries desperately to get Nagi to revert back to being berserk, and angrily stabs Koshio Karako when she hugs Nagi and helps Nagi calm down.
• With Death Note, Light, a.k.a. Kira, is admired by some of the characters because of how twisted he is. Ryuk, the Shinigami that dropped he notebook that Light picked up, enjoys Light's plans and is always saying how close he is to Shinigami by his overall behavior. Three of Light's biggest supports are drawn to him because of what he's done and they personally share the same beliefs that he does, two of them are romantically interested him as a result.
• Muraki from Descendants of Darkness has been shown to exhibit this somewhat. When Tsuzuki summons Suzaku and destroys everything, Muraki is shown to be very ecstatic (complete with the "Magnificent! Now I want you even more!" line).
• Dragon Ball has blonde Lunch/Launch falling for Tenshinhan after watching his ruthless fighting style.
• Durarara!!:
  • The Evil Weapon Saika develops this for Shizuo Heiwajima after getting a taste of his Unstoppable Rage.
    Saika: Strong people. I want to love them. I found it. My goal. To love. I found it. Shizuo. Heiwajima Shizuo. Heiwajima Heiwajima Heiwajima Heiwajima...
  • Vorona has a similar reaction when she first encounters Shizuo, though she is significantly more sane about it. She decides to follow him around to learn the limits of human strength.
  • Shinra spent most of gradeschool and highschool fanboying Shizuo's crazy rage fits.
  • Celty ends up fangirling Shizuo during his fight against Saika's 'children', much like how Shinra did when he and Shizuo were in school.
    Celty: He's so strong... No, he's terrifying... No, he's awesome!
  • Akabayashi fell in love with Sayaka, Anri's mother, after she handed him his ass and gouged his eye out with a katana. It's part of the reason he looks out for Anri years later.
• Full Metal Panic!:
  • Main antagonist Gauron seems to have a creepy attachment of this sort to the protagonist, Sousuke Sagara, who he first met as a child-soldier in some war-torn Middle Eastern country and saw something in that child's eyes — an ice-blue will to kill, without sin or care. Gauron spends much of the first season and the third one trying to 'reawaken' Sousuke's soldier spirit because he found it, in his own words, 'beautiful'.
  • Gauron is definitely the most extreme example in the series (getting aroused enough to have lamented about wanting to rape Sousuke after seeing the aftermath of all the people Sousuke calmly massacred), but Kurama, Gauron's partner in Amalgam, is shown to have started getting this way towards Sousuke as well. Although he initially shows annoyance and skepticism at Gauron's obsession and worship of Sousuke, when Kurama himself comes into confrontation with Sousuke, he starts to admire Sousuke more and more. After hearing that Sousuke massacred a bunch of his subordinates, he notes that "Mr. Iron was right. You are a very interesting boy."
• In The Garden of Sinners, this is the reason that Lio Shirazumi is after Ryougi Shiki (the main character) in the 7th movie. His goal is to turn her into a complete homicidal maniac like him so that they can be together. Unfortunately, she's taken, so he decides to "kill what's holding her back" to get her to "come around". He only succeeds in getting Shiki to utterly massacre the bastard when she thinks that Mikiya is dead.
• In Get Backers after Ban ripped his arm off, Fudou became totally obsessed with him. He actually kept his own rotting, maggot-infested arm with him just so he can remind himself of Ban - which made him feel "incredible chills rising up throughout his body."
• Gintama: Kamui got excited watching Gintoki fight Hosen and later declared Gintoki is his (prey) and that he won't allow anyone else to touch him.
• Hayate × Blade: Blood Knight Ensuu is thought to be this. Her fixation on getting to fight Ayana again stems from her opinion of the other girl as someone who is of the "same kind" as her.
• Alucard from Hellsing has this with Integra, though it's as much her resolve as her potential for violence. Still, he goads her onward, and throws sexual references left and right when she finally orders the death of humans. Ironically, he is the Anti-Hero of the series. He also implies that she feels this way toward him. She just tells him it's none of his business.
• Hetalia: Axis Powers: Finland gets quite excited watching Lithuania beat Prussia in the Battle of Tannenberg◊, and still gushes about it two centuries later.
  Finland: I was so impressed by the leadership and the abnormally high morale of the Lithuanian army that my whole body just quivered!
• Hunter × Hunter: Hisoka towards Gon and Killua, calling them "unripe fruit" that he wants to pick when they become strong enough. But especially towards Gon.
  • Word of God says he's turned on by anyone with a strong aura.
  • It's especially obvious when he blushes during his fight with Gon in episode 5 of the 2011 anime remake and compliments Gon on how strong he is and how he loves his facial expressions.
• In Ichi the Killer, Kakihara, an extreme masochist, becomes obsessed with Ichi after he sees the result of Ichi's brutal murders.
• Freya from Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? actively tries to make Bell stronger and get him into situations where he has to fight against strong monsters. Her reaction to his fight against the minotaur in episode 8 is anything but subtle.
• In Kakegurui, Ryota eventually comes to admit that he has developed feelings for Yumeko, at least in part due to his intrigue with how cheerfully she drags everyone around her into the chaos of her ludicrously high-stakes gambling sessions.
• In Kengan Ashura, Setsuna Kiryu to Tokita Ohma. He even got a plushie of Ohma and he once had a visible boner. What makes it better is that, in the anime, he has the same Japanese voice actor as Hisoka from Hunter × Hunter.
• Kanou Shou from Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple is in love with Miu's berserk killing mode.
  • Kensei's aka Isshinsai Ogata's interest in Kenichi is a somewhat milder example. The first time he met Kenichi he immediately sensed his potential and offered to train Kenichi and make him into the strongest man in the world. When he observed Kenichi's battle with Odin he realized that Kenichi was already talented and wanted to claim him as his disciple even more. And he would have then and there if it wasn't for the Ryouzanpaku masters' Big Damn Heroes moment.
• Not a case of a berserker hero, but Graham Aker from Mobile Suit Gundam 00 becomes obsessed with the Exia Gundam and later its successor the 00 Gundam. He tends to ignore the other three (for each generation, no less) although all are equally worthy opponents.
  Graham: "GUNDAM! I LOVE YOU!"
• Monster: One of the reasons Roberto shows such Undying Loyalty to his master, Johan Liebert, is because of the massive amounts of suffering, death, and chaos he leaves in his wake.
• My Hero Academia: Villain Himiko Toga first falls for protagonist Izuku Midoriya when she sees him covered in blood, and later has to apologize to her boss because she almost got caught by the police while watching him fight Overhaul after he turned himself into a Kaiju.
  Himiko: [sounding breathless and aroused] I'm sorry, I just got distracted watching Izuku!
• Naruto:
  • This is one of the reasons Orochimaru was so eager to obtain Sasuke's body. Later on, during his fight with Naruto, when Naruto is going into the 3-tailed state, Orochimaru (who had until then had been going by Kabuto's assessment that Naruto was a talentless loser) smirks and says "How interesting..."
  • Upon seeing how much damage Kyuubi-Naruto can cause, Orochimaru is shown smiling hugely and saying "This child...intrigues me to no end!"
  • Later in Part II, we find Sasuke to have defeated large amounts of foes (without killing them, but still) and Orochimaru looks very pleased.
  • And possibly Kabuto. During a battle with Naruto in Part II, Naruto hits him with a massive amount of chakra that sends Kabuto crashing into the forest. Kabuto's response to this is to smile widely and think (almost in awe) "He hit me with pure chakra..."
  • Sasuke flashes a proud and flirty smirk when Sakura shows off her upgraded Super-Strength (courtesy of her Yin Seal) by smashing the ground so hard it created a new crater, killing multiple clones of the Ten-Tails in the process. Bonus points because: a) everyone is shocked when they first see the normal Cherry Blossom Impact and b) Naruto, who's standing right next to him, looks absolutely terrified of her.
  • In The Last: Naruto the Movie, part of Toneri's obsessive interest and lust towards Hinata was due to the strength and potency of her untapped chakra of their mutual ancestor Hamura.
• Negima! Magister Negi Magi:
  • Tsukuyomi can get like this when fighting Setsuna. In chapter 293, Tsukuyomi has a typically weird and disturbing moment when she gets all gooey over Negi's new level in badass, and it resembles nothing so much as somebody catching themselves fantasizing about a friend's significant other.
  • Kurt Godel himself does say this line to Negi:
    Kurt: I see... So this is the Gospel of Darkness... hahah. Negi-kun... the more I observe you, the more I want you for my own.
• In Noir, Chloe becomes fascinated with Kirika after witnessing the latter's bloody efficiency in slaughtering Mireille's entire family.
• One Piece: Luffy is not the only recipient of Bartolomeo's... attentions. After witnessing Zoro defeating Pica, he becomes borderline catatonic, complete with outrageous blubbering, foaming of the mouth, and brokenly chanting over and over to himself about how cool Zoro is.
• PandoraHearts:
  • Vincent has a yandere obsession towards his brother Gil that becomes even more obvious after he goads Gil into saying he'll murder anyone who tries to take Oz away from him and gets excited when thinking about the angry expression Gil will make due to his actions. Later, while flirting with Lotti, Vincent releases heart marks and becomes happy when Lotti threatens to maim Vincent for hitting on her. He also has Ho Yay vibes with Leo which peaks when the latter uses violence on the former.
  • Isla Yura got really excited when Oz tore Humpty Dumpty to shreds using B-Rabbit's power and threatened to kill Yura.
• Mukuro from Reborn! (2004), in regards to Tsuna. For example, in chapter 385 he's shown looking quite pleased when he sees Tsuna defeat a foe and remarks that "He's gotten even stronger."
  • Only when Tsuna goes into dying will mode and defeats Gokudera does Gokudera drops his accusations of Tsuna being a weak loser and take to the idea of Tsuna being the tenth Vongola boss...and he becomes quite determined to be Tsuna's right hand man...
  • Squalo's undying devotion for Xanxus is later explained by Squalo as due to his being fascinated by Xanxus' "rage" (which he saw initially in his eyes). Of course, it becomes increasingly obvious that this is probably because Squalo is a masochist that likes seeing Xanxus go berserk and beat people (including Squalo himself) up.
  • The only way to make Hibari Kyouya regard anyone as anything other than an annoyance is to show him that you're strong, whereupon he becomes eager to fight you himself. When it comes to Tsuna he especially shows shades of this trope.
• Rebuild World:
  • Akira's Thrill Seeker Eccentric Mentor Kibayasha goes to great lengths to put Akira into grievous danger in hopes of watching his combat recordings
  • Carol repeatedly reacts to Akira's more badass feats like this. She Has a Type, being strong hunters.
  • Akira reacts like this when watching Nelia fight as a Master Swordswoman in her Mini-Mecha, easily trouncing enemies he can barely stagger. Part of the reason for the shock was his vehement disbelief in the effectiveness of melee weapons.
• Not actually in love, but Jin'Eh from Rurouni Kenshin kidnaps Kaoru in order to try to get Kenshin to revert back to being the dangerous killer he was before, for the purpose of ensuring Kenshin would be fighting him with his full potential (as Kenshin is currently a Technical Pacifist, refusing to kill).
• Izumo no Okuni from Samurai Deeper Kyo is shown to get the trembles and be very aroused when thinking about Demon Eyes Kyo. She is even seen watching Kyo fight Jimon, saying outright that if Kyo doesn't revert back, she'll kill him and make a brochette out of him.
• In Shut Hell, Alfald is this towards the eponymous heroine. He's shown to get crazy excited when he sees her killing, and becomes aroused when she kisses him after ripping a man's throat out with her teeth.
  Alfald: Yes, show me even more, Shut Hell. More than gold, more than women, fascinate me more. With this wind of violence only you can show me. Take away my soul!
• In Tenchi Muyo! GXP, Knight of Cerebus Tarant Shank is awestruck by the sight of Kiriko covered in the blood of her enemies after she's forced to get dangerous. He continues to be interested in her when he reappears — for the little screentime he's left after the Villain Decay he goes through.
• Tokyo Ghoul:
  • Tsukiyama gets very excited when Kaneki issues him a death threat.
  • Romo is like this for Kaneki, with her wanting to kill Sasaki so he'll go back to being the tragic Kaneki she adores. She finds his anti hero badass state to be beautiful and reveals that she joined Anteiku in the hopes of meeting him one day.
  • Eto declares that she's falling for Kaneki when she sees him maiming Tsukiyama and Kanae. When he proceeds to act violent towards her it only seems to enhance her lust towards him.
  • Torso is actually excited to be on the receiving end of a Curb-Stomp Battle from Mutsuki, admiring how strong the other has become and believing they're "connected" by knives.
  • Nico and Naki are major fanboys of Yamori for his violence towards them and others and the tragedy he leaves in his wake. When Yamori dies partially due to Kaneki, Nico decides to switch his affections over to Kaneki.
  • Kou a.k.a. Hajime Hazuki is a major Fan Boy of Kaneki to the point of incredible (or rather, unhealthy) attachment and obediently idolized him when being personally interrogated by Kaneki. Similarly to Roma, this is due to being left in awe regarding Kaneki's achievements as a one-eyed ghoul, except that he is more attracted to the strength Kaneki acquired throughout his life, instead of relishing in Kaneki enduring his Trauma Conga Line. He goes so far as to say that Kaneki is 'a miracle human'. The way he rubs his body against his side of the door of the room he is confined in (while Kaneki is on the other side of the door, directly speaking to him through the window and nothing but the door and the clothes they are wearing separates the two) doesn't help at all. Did we mention yet that he is only twelve?!
• Legato Bluesummers from Trigun falls in love with Knives' violence and destruction, seeing him as a kind of messiah.
  • And, manga Legato also has Knives to look to for killing every single one of the people who had participated or been complicit in what appears to have been his repeated rape, leaving only little Legato alive. Of course, he didn't give a damn about the kid, but there's a reason for hero worship and sociopathology.
  • Another subversion in some of the Gung-Ho Guns Foe Romance Subtext with Vash — even though a Pacifist, they try to provoke him into the violence they're sure he's capable of, partly because of his bounty reputation and because they know about his relationship to Knives. Knives himself does this to get a reproduction of the destruction of July.
• Ryuuko in Wolf Guy - Wolfen Crest is clearly turned on by whoever's the strongest, be it her current beau, Yakuza heir Haguro, or anti-hero Inugami.
  • Haguro is in love with Inugami's carnage, to the point he refuses to believe Inugami even has the ability to like normal people.

Comic Books

• 20 Fists: The romance between rival gang leaders Billie and Chel began when Billie saw Chel beating up one of Billie's crew.
• Batman: Depending on the Writer, the Joker will display this sort of behaviour towards Batman. His motivation varies between genuine attraction to violence as committed by Batman or trying to get Batman to break his no kill policy out of a desire to drag the man down further.
• Batwoman: Renee Montoya is a heroic example. On a few occasions she's expressed arousal at watching Batwoman fight.
• Black Order: Safe to say that this trope is probably the main attraction and reason for the marriage between Marvel Comics villains Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight. Proxima has proudly defended her husband's abilities in leading an invasion on earth, while Corvus constantly admires and indulges his wife's Blood Knight tendencies with gifts of 'first blood' when she wants.
• Blue Beetle: Volume 3 has this with a little Interplay of Sex and Violence thrown in when Livewire attacks Beetle on the roof of S.T.A.R. Labs. She's more than a little excited by Scarab's alien energy.
• Button Man: The series is about rich folks paying guys to kill each other. The main character's 'sponsor' demonstrates distinct, ah, excitement over the violence and bloodshed, although it doesn't appear to be sexual in nature.
  • Deadpool: Deadpool is like this for Shiklah. In The Infinity Gauntlet, he meets her after she falls, and awakens from her coffin. He's supposed to be delivering her to Dracula to be wed, but he falls for her instead. At one point, Hydra Bob sees the destruction and dead bodies while talking to Deadpool. He asks if Shiklah did all this, and Deadpool admits that she did, and calls her dreamy. Shiklah in turn feels the same for Deadpool and is less than happy when he starts killing less and less on his journey to trying to be a hero. In the Spider-Man/Deadpool series, we see Shiklah complaining about it. She asks Deadpool when the last time was that he really gutted someone. She states she doesn't know him anymore, and wonders if he even knows himself. Deadpool argues that he's finally one of the good guys, and Shiklah tells him good guys and demon queens don't last.
• Flinch: The comic "Red Romance" by Bruce Timm (from issue #11) tells the tale of two murderers that fall in love with each other's brutality. When their sadomasochistic love life and their collaborative team killing grows boring, they try to rekindle the fire with some help. Things get really romantic and messed up.
• Green Lantern: Red Lantern leader Atrocitus falls in love with Mera's carnage (or maybe just Mera period) when she is turned into a deputy Red Lantern during Blackest Night. As he says, staring at her after she just toasted her zombified husband and son, "Earthwoman. I have nothing to say but... welcome to the Red Lantern Corps." The first energy construct he creates, as opposed to just vomiting red plasma everywhere, is Mera. Star Sapphire Carol Ferris even notes that there is a spark of love in Atrocitus' heart. Not that Atrocitus will ever admit it.
• Hack/Slash:
  • In Hack/Slash Vs. Evil Ernie, the Ax-Crazy title crossover character falls in love with Cassie after telepathically seeing how horrifically violent her life is and how screwed up she is, causing her no small amount of trauma and moral conflict.
  • Murder Messiah features a Serial Killer who has a similar obsession with Cassie, though he admits any attraction he feels towards her is secondary to his primary goal of figuring out how to become a slasher.
• The Incredible Hulk: In Planet Hulk, Miek of the Warbound was in love with the Hulk's carnage. He allowed Sakaar to be destroyed in order to keep the Hulk from becoming a peaceful ruler instead of the World Breaker Miek worshipped.
• Johnny the Homicidal Maniac: Inverted. Bystander Jimmy develops an infatuation with our villain Johnny when he witnesses Johnny's killing spree at a Taco Hell Outlet. He goes out of his way to imitate Johnny, and even tracks Johnny down to his house. And then Johnny kicks his ass and guts him like a trout for being such a creepy fanboy and obsessing over such depraved acts. That and because Jimmy raped his victims, which was what drove Johnny to make him suffer a bit before he finished him off.
• Judge Dredd: Judge Death in his Origins Issue reveals that during an investigation when he was still a human Judge, he met the Sisters of Death, two occultists who worshipped death and practiced The Dark Arts. He let them live because he was quite intrigued by their carnal activities, already being quite the murderous creep himself. He participated in their rituals, where it's implied that they regularly tortured, murdered and ate people and held orgies. They later used their magic to turn him into an undead spirit so he could truly be in a position to judge everyone for committing the "crime" of living.
• Power Girl: A captive Power Girl is informed by the Ultra Humanite that he and Satanna's relationship turned sexual after she watched him slaughter a squad of soldiers just minutes after his brain was implanted into the body of an albino gorilla. Power Girl is understandably disgusted.
• The Punisher: In one issue, the Punisher teams up with Elektra. At the end of the issue, after their adventure, Punisher has an internal monologue where he muses about just how violent, unstable, and overall crazy Elektra is. He then asks her out on a date (although this happens in the final frame, so we never know if she said yes or not).
• The Punisher MAX: Bullseye in the eponymous arc. See his internal monologue as he's watching Punisher slaughter his men: "You do not kill like any man I've ever seen, Frank. You're more like a force of nature. An earthquake or a tidal wave. A tornado. Watching you kill is like watching Rembrandt paint or hearing Mozart conduct his 9th symphony. You are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, Frank Castle. I think I'm going to cry. Thank you, Frank. Thank you for being you." Then later when talking to Kingpin about the encounter: "I saw him in action. Let me tell you, it was... it was something to behold. I do apologize, but it appears I'm going to need to pleasure myself now."
• Richard Dragon: While Lady Shiva isn't necessarily attracted to Richard Dragon, she is fascinated with him due to his tendency to get into deadly peril and works with him mainly for this reason.
• Secret Six: The main reason Jeanette is attracted to Deadshot is his insanely high body count.
• Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie Comics): The trigger happy, robotic, antihero, E-123 Omega, develops an amusing crush on Blaze the Cat after she defeats him and the rest of Team Dark with her Pyrokinesis. This leads to an amusing scene where he says "I LIKE YOU. LET US BURN THINGS TOGETHER." To a surprised Blaze while holding her hands in a romantic way, and later, bashfully tells her that she burns things very well when they part ways at the end of the story arc. In the non-canon character Q&A on Ian Flynn's message board, he also asks heroic AI Nicole to literally have his robotic kids after learning of the potential carnage she could create if she went all out.
• Spider-Man: Shriek fell in... love?... with the Spider-Man villain literally named Carnage/Cletus Kasady when she saw him massacring his way through the insane asylum where she was imprisoned, in the opening chapter of Maximum Carnage. "Make mine mayhem!" He broke her out and they "adopted" several other villains as a perversion of every good family ideal that seriously creeped out even several of the superheroes opposing them.
• Superman: Subverted in Superman/Supergirl: Maelstrom, as Maelstrom thinks she can catch Darkseid's eye by killing her gladiator adversaries in spectacularly brutal and bloody ways. Instead, Darkseid declares he has grown bored with her, and orders Maelstrom is dumped into the slave pits.
• The Transformers: Last Stand of the Wreckers: This might be why Overlord wants to fight Megatron so badly. Overlord first realized his love for battle and destruction when he saw Megatron fight way back when Megs was a gladiator.
• The Ultimates: Initially, when Bruce Banner was just a timid dork, Betty Ross despised him. When he turned himself into the Hulk, a destructive monster, because he was desperate to avoid losing her, she warmed up to him. And when she saw those satellite photos of him eating Kleiser's intestines like some kind of animal... well, let's just say that she asked Fury for a conjugal visit.

Fan Works

• Abraxas (Hrodvitnon): Calling it love would be a gross misuse of the word, but Ichi/Eldest Brother and Ni/Elder Brother are very much enticed and borderline aroused by Monster X's capacity for Ghidorah-like ultra-violence in a rage state after they first observe it. MaNi/Elder Brother, lacking Ghidorah's middle head to act as a Restraining Bolt, takes this trope to Stupid Evil levels.
• Acts of Mercy: The Gringotts goblins love how violent Mercy is, to the point that the lead teller says the fact she wasn't born a goblin is proof the gods have forsaken his kind. He also tells Harry that if she was a goblin, he'd fight Harry to the death and present his still beating heart to her as a gift.
• Advice and Trust: In chapter 8 Ritsuko remembers the sight of Unit-01 howling like a blood-thirsty demon as its enemy was being ripped apart by its and Unit-02's combined efforts and she wonders inwardly: "That is your precious Yui there, Gendo, howling blood and madness like something from the depths of Hell! Is that what you want back?" The answer is a clear and definite yes, that is what Gendo wants.
• Bride of Discord: In the Audio Drama of Daughter of Discord, Discord comforts Screwball over her lapse in rational by mentioning Fluttershy's Sanity Slippage into Tsundere territory during "The Best Night Ever" before showing her the events through a Magic Mirror. Discord is naturally lovestruck over it.
  Discord: (With hearts for eyes) Isn't she just enchanting?
• In Fear the Superhero, Karasuba first starts reacting to Shirou when she watches him murder a Sekirei and her Ashikabi in cold blood. When he immediately tries to kill her as well and defeats her in a fight, she just can't take it anymore.
  • Natsuo is also this to Karasuba in a platonic way. He finds the state of bitter, murderous misanthropy Karasuba lives in beautiful and sees much of himself in her. He is very disappointed when he sees how happy and hopeful Shirou makes her.
• In To Feel Alive, Ryuk is very into watching Light kill.
• Harmony Theory: After Charisma sees what Rainbow can do, she seems impressed and starts calling her "Hot Stuff". She is also pleased by Blaze's resistance to torture.
• A Hero's Wrath: Both of them being Blood Knights, Izuku cannot help but be turned on when Nejire's Lust Mantra causes her to play with her opponents Mirio Togata and Tamaki Amajiki like a cat with mice during the opening battle at Izuku's orientation.
• Inverted in the My Hero Academia fanfic Hidden in Plain View, where Shigaraki develops a Villainous Crush on Izuka after seeing her Quirk undo the damage his does.
• In Love with Your Carnage (Not the Symbiote!) takes this to extremes by having the entire supervillain community obessed with Spidey's carnage.
• Miraculous Ladybug Salt-Shots: The Devilous Duo reimagines Marinette and Lila as a pair of demons. Marinette tired of torturing humans and went to live secretly among them; Lila followed her up with the intent of convincing her that Humans Are Bastards and that she should return to her work. Lila repeatedly gushes about how good Marinette was at her job, freely acknowledging that the other demoness is more powerful than her and insisting that she wants to see her in action again.
• In No Way In Hell, Kushina Uzumaki was elevated to sainthood by the Church of Jashin for her actions after being kidnapped by Kumo, which include force-feeding the Raikage his own spleen (she failed anatomy and simply grabbed the first organ she found in the hopes it was his liver).
• After witnessing Hippolyta kill several dozen men with a sword in On the Back of the Turtle, Zabuza asks if anyone is as turned on as he is.
• Suì-Fēng in To Prey Upon the Dead is highly disturbed to realize Unohana is getting off as Suì-Fēng describes how she was defeated.
  • Later Unohana comes across an area Ichigo and Kenpachi were fighting in and barely restrains herself from charging off to fight Ichigo herself.
• Re: My Hostage, Not Yours:
  • Zim first starts to be attracted to Gaz after seeing her easily dominate an Irken combat simulator, finding her vicious fighting skills to be totally alluring.

• The Second Try: When Unit 01 burst out of Leliel, ripping the Angel apart as spilling blood, fluids and flesh chunks everywhere, everybody looked at the blood-drenched, roaring, berserker, demonlike Humongous Mecha horrified... except Asuka. She was smirking as she stared at her husband tearing Leliel apart and coming back to her.
• In A Teacher's Glory the first time Sasuke finds any girl attractive is when he watches Sakura gut and dissect a tiger he and Naruto just killed.
• Thousand Shinji: Shinji honestly tells Asuka that watching her fighting and hacking enemies away turns him on.
  Shinji: No really. I was in awe of you when you were fighting with Israfel the other day. Your movements were so fluid, so sure, that I did not feel like I was looking at Unit 02, but you. It was incredible.

• Non-villainous version: Max starts to reciprocate Gidget's affection in The Secret Life of Pets when the cute, perky Pomeranian lays waste to a small army of Flushed Pets who are out to get him, up to and including a sewer alligator.

Film — Live-Action

• Stacey of American History X seems turned on by Derek's violent acts and gives a Slasher Smile during them.
• Bride of Chucky: Tiffany Valentine is a serial killer who is enamored by Charles/Chucky's murderous ways, and Chucky reveals to feel the same for her, especially when the spectacular manner in which Tiffany kills petty thieves Diane and Russ (via impaling them with falling shards from a mirror above them she shattered) makes him propose to her and have sex.
• Daredevil (2003): Elektra is so viciously determined to murder Bullseye that she doesn't say a single word to him during the fight, evidenced when she slashes his cheek. Instead of anger or annoyance, Bullseye sees the woman out to avenge her father's murder as attractive for her rage.
• The Dark Knight: Joker, towards Batman. The Joker's entire reason for terrorizing Gotham is to see how close Batman will come to breaking his one rule of "never kill".
  "Come on, I want you to do it, I want you to do it. Come on, hit me."
• Inverted in GoldenEye, when Xenia massacres the workers of Severnaya. Xenia moans orgasmically throughout the experience, whereas Ourumov beside her looks at her, aghast at the pleasure she's taking from what to him is just another part of the plan.
• Martha May Whovier in How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) has long been nursing a crush on the Grinch ever since they were kids. When she recalls the disastrous gift exchange where all the other kids laughed at him and he reached his Rage Breaking Point, she joyously declares "The muscles!" as she talks about the rampage he went on. Years later, when she sees him trash the holiday festivities after he's humiliated by the mayor, Martha May lets out a dazed "Oh wow." For added irony, Martha May's one of the only people who actually liked the Grinch, feeling empathy for his humiliation and believing there was good in him.
• Ichi the Killer has a poster boy for this: Masao Kakihara. He is actually shown getting stiffies when he sees the over-the-top carnage Ichi creates. Being a masochist, he stalks Ichi in the hopes that Ichi will torture him.
• Kingdom of Heaven: As the protagonist use more and more inventive ways to massacre the antagonist army (like attaching ropes and then pulling sideways the towers designed to climb walls), the antagonist (Saladin) is clearly seen smiling, the more his troops get massacred, the more he smiles, like if he was thinking along the lines: "Cool! I should use this in my next battle..."
• Nightcrawler: Despite rejecting his earlier advances, Nina rather unsettlingly becomes more attracted to Lou after she sees the full extent of his immorality and how far he's willing to go to orchestrate violence for the sake of a good news story.
• Repo! The Genetic Opera: During the song "Night Surgeon", Luigi seems a bit too excited once Nathan starts remembering who he was. Enjoy.
• Serenity, the Big Damn Movie of Firefly: Mister Universe is a Playful Hacker who seems happy to help the crew out in exchange for nothing more than the recording of an awesome action sequence they brought him (namely, the Maidenhead incident where River's assassin programming was triggered).
• Shiwan Khan in The Shadow had a.. thing for Ying Ko's homicidal rampages. However, that's not his name anymore.
• Palpatine in Star Wars cackles, grins, and eggs on Luke Skywalker as he unleashes a rage-fueled No-Holds-Barred Beatdown on Darth Vader, both because he enjoys watching it and because he wants to turn Luke to The Dark Side. He also does this with every other fight we witness where one 'good' character is going berserk. Some (not all) other 'evil' (not necessarily Sith) characters also do that, especially in the expanded universe. (Dark Forces series antagonists for example... they love when the player goes into a murderous rampage. A particularly interesting example is the game Jedi Academy, where the antagonist encourages the player to kill an annoying character that was supposed to be a friend and is a traitor, and players are likely to do it, just because that character IS ANNOYING.)
• Stoker: Very heavily implied to be a mutual case of this trope between India and Charlie. India becomes infatuated with Charlie after he kills her attempted rapist, and even masturbates to the memory of the murder. Charlie, meanwhile, clearly enjoys watching India kick the crap out of the guy. Later, when he attempts to strangle Evelyn, he calls for India to come watch with a very excited grin.
• The Toxic Avenger: The obnoxious cool kids who torment Melvin, causing him to become our titular hero, early in the movie hit a kid on a bike with their car, and run over his head, then take Polaroids. Later, one of the girls is masturbating to the pictures, when Toxie shows up...
• X-Men: First Class:
  • Sebastian Shaw bursts into laughter and shouts stuff like "Wonderful!" and "Excellent!" when Erik Lehnsherr as a boy slaughters all of Shaw's men and trashes his office. Later, they meet when Erik is an adult, and Shaw honestly compliments him on how powerful he has become, even calling him his son.
  • It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, but Charles Xavier's face glows with delight◊ when he witnesses Erik using the anchor of Shaw's boat as a destructive tool.

Literature

• In Animorphs, The Drode is rather fond of Rachel's rage and bloodlust.
• In the Anita Blake series, the serial killer Olaf develops the hots for Anita after seeing how efficiently and ruthlessly she kills vampires.
• Honor Harrington: Horace Harkness of the Royal Manticoran Navy was pathologically incapable of walking by a Marine without starting a brawl.^note The Marines took it as a compliment, as the two services have a friendly rivalry. Then he met Sergeant Major Iris Babcock and found himself absolutely dumbstruck by her grace and lethality in a fight. The next time either of the characters appear, they're married — and Harkness is no longer brawling with Marines.
• Captain Reilly in Okuyyuki picks up an ancient Japanese sword, and is initially weirded out when he discovers that it's possessed by a female kami (Japanese god/spirit) of war who feels this way about him. Then he gets used to it.
• Daylen towards Lyrah in Shadow of the Conqueror. When she breaks his bones, he compliments her on her no-fuss strength, and later calls it "an intimate lesson in pain." He also stops to admire her when she starts slaughtering Dawnists by picking them up and throwing them, remarking how "incredible" it is, and fantasizes about making amends to her by becoming her slave and letting her "do to him whatever she wished."
• In Skulduggery Pleasant, when a Remnant sees a vision of the future, where Darquesse/Valkyrie is reaping destruction, this inspires it to break out and spread the word among other Remnants who now worship Darquesse as their saviour. This leads to many of them more-or-less reciting the creepy line, "We love you Darquesse."
  • This takes a pretty creepy turn when they try to manifest Darquesse by attaching a Remnant to Valkyrie and the results cause them to panic... all except for that first one, who goes so far as to cripple the ones who try running away.
  • Darquesse in turn is in love with one of the most powerful and destructive beings in the series aside from herself, Lord Vile who happens to be Skulduggery's Superpowered Evil Side. Doesn't stop her from trying to kill him of course.

Live-Action TV

• The 100: In season 7, Levitt spends three days watching Octavia's memories via M-Cap, and he's very into it when he sees her kill Pike.
• The Boys (2019):
  • In "Good for the Soul", while trying to buck up Maeve, Homelander talks of how she killed a hostage taker by throwing a pen into his eye.
  • In "The Bloody Doors Off", once Homelander and Stormfront enter a (rather sadomasochistic) relationship, they use the slaughtering of a robber as their basis of foreplay.
• Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.
  • Many vampires act this way about their loved ones, particularly Spike: "Dru bagged a Slayer? Good for her! Though maybe not from your perspective." Even more in keeping with the trope, more than one vampire (Dracula, Spike) winds up feeling this way about Buffy herself.
  • Angelus attracts those who absolutely gush at his talent for violence. Darla tries several times to unleash these tendencies from Angel's psyche, as she desperately misses the whirlwind of carnage Angelus would leave in his wake. Even Spike, Due, and Darla together cannot keep up with him.
  • Apparently several vengeance demons were very impressed by Willow's Heroic BSoD after Tara's death to the point that their leader D'Hoffryn has a standing offer that Willow can join them whenever she wants. He also mentions that one of the VDs has a framed picture of her flaying Warren alive, considering it a work of art.
    • D'Hoffryn already had his eyes on Willow when she accidentally cursed her friends in "Something Blue".
• Burn Notice has Larry feeling this way about the Michael Westen "he knew".
• An episode of Criminal Minds had a copycat killer suffering from the below mentioned hybristophilia.
• Doctor Who:
  • "The Sound of Drums": The Master, having missed the end of the Time War, is intrigued to learn that the Doctor has destroyed both Gallifrey and Skaro.
    The Master: What did it feel like, though? Two almighty civilisations, burning... oooh, tell me, how did that feel?
    The Doctor: Stop it!
    The Master: You must have been like God.
  • In "Asylum of the Daleks", it's revealed that Daleks are occasionally forced to lock up Daleks who prove to be so dangerous, even they can't control them! Since they are obsessed with purity, the Doctor asks why they don't simply exterminate them? The Dalek Prime Minister explains that they can't bring themselves to remove such pure hatred from the universe. It is beautiful to them! The Dalek Prime Minster then suggests that perhaps that's the reason why they've never managed to kill the Doctor.
  • "The Doctor Falls": Downplayed. Missy grabs the Master by the lapels, shoves him against a pillar, and provides the solution to their problem.
    The Master: By the way, is it wrong that I... (nods downwards)
    Missy:...Yes. Very.
    (The Master swallows, grunts)
• Game of Thrones:
  • In Season 1, when Drogo declares he will conquer Westeros after a botched assassination on Daenerys, she looks positively aroused. Happens again when Daario kills a Meereenese champion on her behalf.
  • A non-sexual variant with the Hound: he's quite pleased with Arya's killing skills.

  • Another minor example; Cersei seems impressed by watching Gregor carving up prisoners, since it means he'll be more than capable of dealing with anyone Tyrion nominates as his champion for Trial by Combat.

  • House of the Dragon: In contrast to all the other onlookers' shock at seeing Rhaenyra arrive in camp covered in a boar's blood during The Grand Hunt, Harwin Strong (the elder son of Lord Lyonel) has a huge appreciative grin. He would end up a lover to Rhaenyra and father three of her children.
• Good Girls: Beth is revealed to be attracted to Rio because of his dangerous lifestyle, not in spite of it. In one scene, she masturbates while imagining him destroying various objects in her bedroom with a crowbar.
• The Good Place: Eleanor is something of a bi disaster at the best of times, but in the third season, she idly comments that Janet is really hot while she's beating the crap out of demons.

• In the second season of NBC's Hannibal, Hannibal Lecter takes a very personal interest in Will Graham's Protagonist Journey to Villain. The two of them have intimate dinners together to plan and celebrate murders. Hannibal is not best pleased to learn that Will is faking it in order to trap him. In the third season, Hannibal gets to enjoy Will's real Journey to Villain.
• Interview with the Vampire (2022): In "Is My Very Nature That of a Devil", Lestat de Lioncourt is both amazed and turned on by his fledgling Louis de Pointe du Lac's grisly evisceration and murder of Alderman Fenwick.
  Lestat: I must confess, I'm very proud of you, Louis. It goes against much of my teaching, but you managed to execute it with such aplomb. [...] That garish display of his body, like some public art piece [...] Did you not smile when he begged? Did you not feel pleasure as you carved him up? • The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Sauron disguised as Halbrand first starts dropping hints about "binding" himself to Galadriel after watching her kill multiple Orcs, and threatening to torture others, as well as vowing to commit genocide on all Orcs just so Adar can helplessly watch.
• The Peripheral (2022): Wilf seems to rather enjoy the sight of Flynne beating the tar out of the peripheral fabricators who cut out her eye in the first episode.
• Definitely part of the attraction between Root and Shaw in Person of Interest - Root, who considers humans "bad code" is drawn to Shaw, a self-professed sociopath (well, "Axis II Personality Disorder") who doesn't seem to feel much guilt, fear, or even love - although she does have a moral code. They like to cause a lot of chaos together, guns akimbo.
• Supernatural: This is seemingly the basis of Ketch's attraction to Mary. He waxes lyrical about her hunting skills and regards her best, true self as a ruthless, efficient killer, like him.
• In True Blood, the vampire Godric observed the Viking warrior Eric Northman's prowess in battle, and was so impressed that he turned Eric into a vampire so that he could fight forever.

• A Streetcar Named Desire: Stella towards Stanley though it crosses the line when he's violent towards other people.

Video Games

• In Alpha Protocol, if Mike tends to go on lethal rampages, SIE will let him know of her appreciation, and indicates that watching him slaughter his way through his enemies gets her aroused. If you manage to kill Conrad Marburg, she'll send Mike an E-mail saying she basically ruined a pair of panties on hearing the news.
• In Asura's Wrath, Sergei's reaction when Wrath Asura impales him right through his midsection with his hand reeks of this. He thinks that Asura's eponymous wrath is "glorious".
• Baldur's Gate:
  • In Baldur's Gate II, an evil dark elf cleric named Viconia DeVir can be romanced by male player characters, and she will be attracted to the fact that the player character is a child of the God of Murder and is capable of great destruction.
  • In Baldur's Gate III, a dark elf paladin named Minthara Baenre can task the player character with aiding her in raiding a nearby druid grove early in the game. And if they successfully aided her in killing the refugees and druids in the grove, she will be so impressed by their ruthlessness that she would soon offer herself to spend the night with them to celebrate. Beyond that, Minthara can be romanced by the player character so long as they can earn her approval through cruelty and Pragmatic Villainy. She, alongside the vampire Lovable Rogue Astarion, also displays a fascination with The Dark Urge, an Amnesiac Hero with inexplicable homicidal impulses stemming from them being another child of the God of Murder. And meanwhile, Lae'zel the githyanki fighter will tell the Player Character, regardless of who's chosen for the role, that their propensity toward violence gets her very hot and bothered. If she's not romanced, she'll mention seeking out one of the other party members for the same reason.
• In Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!, Nisha starts off as dismissive of Jack's attempts to hit on her, though she occasionally acknowledges his handsomeness. It isn't until he had a group of scientists Thrown Out the Airlock that she really started to take interest in him. At the end of the game, when Jack is going through an all-out Villainous Breakdown, Nisha can't help but find his bloodlust and psychopathy incredibly sexy to the point that when he asks her out for a drink after everything's said and done, she tells him that they're going to skip the drink. By the time of Borderlands 2, Nisha (now the Sheriff of Lynchwood) and Jack are a couple.
• In Destiny 2, Emperor Calus of the Cabal Empire admits in the lore entry for the "Zenith of Your Kind" shotgun that he is in love with the Young Wolf because of their refusal to surrender in the face of impossible odds and tendency to kill god-like beings that should be totally beyond them.
• Though not a romantic example (as far as we know) Kefka has this attitude towards Terra in Dissidia Final Fantasy. He particularly seems to enjoy telling her, after she recovers from going berserk, how she beat up an ally and how much she seemed to enjoy it. In his prefight quote, he also shows a similar attitude towards Shantotto.
  "Now, you've got what it takes to destroy the world!"
  • He also seems to be enjoying her torching soldiers a bit too much during one of Terra's first flashbacks. This example also mixes in an odd power fantasy too, as she's completely under his control (ala the Slave Crown) during that incident.
  • This motive was hinted at in the original game and is similar to Sephiroth's assertion that he controls Cloud's fate. Really, it's present with several Dissidia characters. The Emperor tries to seduce Warrior of Light and Firion to his side, remarking that they're "intriguing" or "pawns better off surrendering to me."
    • The Emperor is even implied to have that same view towards Terra, as seen in one of his pre-liners if they face one another in a fight, though the specific line can also have other connotations.
      Emperor: Why don't you let me control you?
• Iron Bull in Dragon Age: Inquisition considers particularly awesome bloodshed a turn-on (among many other turn-ons such as red hair and blacksmithing). He hits on Cassandra after a fight, citing a move she pulled (unless he's romancing the Inquisitor, in which case he asks if he can borrow her armour for "the boss" instead - she declines), and - during a fight with a dragon - delivers a qunari line roughly translating as "I'm going to very respectfully jerk off to this later".
• Fallout:
  • In Fallout 3, Mr. Burke will make comments such as "natural selection at its finest!" if you stealthily kill someone in his presence. Though attacking him causes crybaby screams of how you're a masochist.
  • In New Vegas, Red Lucy, owner of the Thorn in Westside, will have sex with you if you bring her eggs of several monsters among the most dangerous in the Mojave, culminating in Deathclaws.
• Final Fantasy XIII: Orphan sounds just a little too excited at the prospect of Fang transforming into Ragnarok and destroying him, yelling its praises and encouragement as she gives into anger and attacks - then blasting her with magic and revive spells when she fails, to try and make her do it again. Barthandelus is slightly less subtle, yelling "RELEASE" in a booming voice as the party kill him.
• Clive and Mathilda from Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. They're Sickeningly Sweethearts about it, too; their entire support chain is spent praising each other with pet names and admiring each other's lance technique in equal measure. Clive also notes in a memory prism showing their first meeting that boys all over Zofia admire Mathilda for her legendary battle prowess (himself included), and he refers to her admiringly as a Valkyrie and a beautiful war maiden.
• Similar to what happened with Luke in Return of the Jedi, in The Force Unleashed, Palpatine is greatly impressed when Starkiller kicks Darth Vader's ass.
• Ares in God of War was impressed by the brutal Spartan warrior that Kratos was, and gave him the Blades of Chaos to save and inspire him to even more spectacular acts of carnage. He got his wish, although Kratos didn't appreciate Ares arranging the death of his family and thus removing his only "weakness".
• HK-47 in Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2. He's pretty much evil already, but his regard for your character goes up or down depending on how many cruel acts you perform in his presence.
  HK-47: Statement: Master, I must say it is a pleasure working side by side with you.
  Exile: If you have an explanation for why, indulge me.
  HK-47: Statement: Just when I believe my photoreceptors have recorded the last potential aspect of your cruelty to my memory core, you commit a new atrocity that leaves me analyzing its impact for days.
  HK-47: You are like a delightful random cruelty generator, master, poisoning all you touch with your presence. You are a testament to all organic meatbags everywhere.
  Exile: Stick with me - you'll pick up a few things.
  HK-47: Statement: I have already learned a great deal, master, and I am anxious to learn more about lying, betrayal, and new ways to harm innocents.
  • Darth Malak has shades of this towards the protagonist, who's the amnesiac Darth Revan and his former Master. During the climatic battle on the Star Forge, he turns his entire forces towards them, fully admitting that he expects all this will achieve is to slow them down temporarily.
• In Manhunt, Lionel Starkweather apparently gets very turned on when the player has protagonist James Earl Cash kill people in violent ways. In some dialogue, it is implied that he is possibly masturbating to Cash's murder spree. He expresses disappointment in the character if the player chooses to not kill people.
• Mass Effect:
  • In Mass Effect 2, if Grunt's in your party when you're chasing down Jack, a biotic powerhouse with serious rage issues, during her recruitment mission, he'll spend much of the level admiring her appetite for destruction.
    • During Grunt's loyalty mission on Tuchanka, if Grunt and Shepard manage to take down the Thresher Maw, EDI reports that the Krogan females have sent several breeding requests for him... and one for Shepard.
    • Harbinger's obsession with capturing Shepard could be interpreted as stemming from this.
  • Mass Effect 3
    • Krogan as a whole hold Shepard in quite high regard, especially for someone who is not a krogan. Even Wreav, who considers krogan the apex species, treats Shepard with a grudging and reluctant respect. A good reason for this is because Shepard is shown to be feared by the near incomprehensibly powerful Reapers. If Grunt wasn't recruited or accepted into Clan Urdnot, he is replaced as leader of Aralakh Company by Urdnot Dagg, who expresses envy and admiration towards Shepard for having proven such a foe that every Reaper in the galaxy wants to kill them.
      Dagg: I envy your enemies, Commander. To be hated by ones so powerful speaks well of you. My krogan would destroy anything we face to earn such a reputation.
    • A Shepard romancing Kaidan outright states that s/he is turned on by watching him fight in the Citadel DLC (a rare heroic example, unless s/he's a Renegade).
• While all of the Four Guardians in Mega Man Zero consider Zero to be a Worthy Opponent, to the point that the three surviving Guardians in Zero 2 look forward to the prospect of fighting him again, their post-battle dialogue gets a little too...excited about it.
• Ocelot from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater expresses a romantic admiration for Big Boss when he hears that Big Boss so easily defeated the members of the Cobra. Volgin notices, asking Ocelot if he's "fallen for him" because of this. Not to mention how he saw Big Boss in a Gaussian Girl manner after Big Boss massacred his entire Ocelot unit.
• The announcer from Mortal Kombat. "Excellent... Superb... FINISH HIM!" Not surprising, considering that it's Shao Khan.
• Grimnaw from Neverwinter Nights. He isn't a villain; he's an ally, but his main reason for connecting with your PC is all the death your PC causes...
• In Nier, Tyrann enjoys killing Shades very... thoroughly. And due to his possession of Kaine, so does their body, as revealed in Grimoire Nier.
  • NieR: Automata: Yorha-class androids are programmed to feel love when they fight and kill stuff. 9S in particular has developed a sadomasochistic desire to fight his combat partner 2B to death, repeatedly, and it's implied she feels the same. The Machine faction has also developed an obsession with emulating human culture, even though it constantly brings them the same conflict, discrimination, and death humanity suffered upon itself. Especially since they like to emulate the violent parts.
• Octopath Traveler II: Father, one of the leaders of the Blacksnakes Thieves' Guild, claims he once fell in love with an assassin from looking at the corpse of a man she just killed. According to him, he didn't get to witness the kill itself but the knife wounds were unlike anything he'd ever seen before, as though a goddess herself had wielded the blade that killed him.
• Persona 5 Royal: During the third semester, Joker, Akechi and Kasumi enter Maruki's Palace, with Akechi being the Navigator. Unlike the other Navis, who cheer on Joker and offer help, Akechi frequently insults everyone and comments excitedly on the carnage. If Joker is hit by Rage, rather than show concern, Akechi states he enjoys seeing the protagonist in that state before yelling at him to calm down.
• In Portal 2, this seems to be GLaDOS's reaction to Cave Johnson when he goes on a psychotic rant about burning down houses.
  GLaDOS: Burning people! He says what we're all thinking!
• In Sacrifice, Charnel will offer boons to Eldred during the campaign for acts of particularly wanton cruelty... Even if you're not currently working for him. In one case he'll even reward you for killing one of his own minions, because the person was only giving him lip service anyway and seeing you kill him was so much more entertaining.
• Samurai Warriors: Noh is already quite Ax-Crazy by herself, so her dialogue scenes with Nobunaga gets downright kinky.
  Nobunaga: "Let us make beautiful war together."
  • Play as either and you hear this if you save the other from getting killed:
    Nobunaga: "Noh. You're beautiful when you're slaughtering peons."
    Noh: "Shall we reap eternal suffering my love?"
• Villainous/Anti-Heroic version: The now-infamous taunt from Super Smash Bros. Brawl seems to indicate that Leon feels this way towards Wolf. Not that anyone can blame him.
• Tira from the Soul Series has an infatuation with chaos and destruction, so when she met Nightmare, it was unrequited love at first sight. However, in Soulcalibur V, the new Nightmare is a political entity who absorbs souls in secret. Tira was not pleased to discover this and started seeking out a new host for Soul Edge.
• Leon from Star Fox feels this way towards Wolf.
• In The Suffering, Hermes, Blackmore, Copperfield, and the Creeper all take their turns in praising Torque for committing violent acts. Indeed, one of the final levels of the second game is devoted to a review of Torque's decisions during the game, conducted by three of the Ghosts. Ironically, should you take the evil path all the way, the Creeper stops complimenting you when he realises that you're a danger to his reputation; a Boss Battle follows.
• Team Fortress 2: All of the classes (as well as the Administrator) tend to be quite sadistically gleeful when things go well.
• Touhou Yumejikuu ~ Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream has Kotohime, the Princess of Beauty in Danmaku. That is to say, she's in love with your Bullet Hell.
  Kotohime: (victory quote to Mima) Oh, you beautiful barrage! What a dream!
• In the 2012 reboot of Twisted Metal, a planned ending for Sweet Tooth/Needles Kane was that he meets Sophie Kane (in this version unrelated to him, unlike the final version where she's his daughter who was Driven to Suicide and later Comes Back Wrong) and falls in love with her after seeing her path of destruction that rivals his own. He's distracted by this and ends up beheaded by her, who then uses his flaming head like a torch to continue her killing spree.
• The main source of Kills-in-Shadow's loyalty in Tyranny is how much she loves displays of brutal dominance and destruction by the Fatebinder, regardless of the Fatebinder's gender. (And as a Villain Protagonist, the Fatebinder doesn't lack opportunities for such.) In particular, there's something she finds appealing about the way the Fatebinder smells while wreaking havoc and destruction across the Tiers. It's enough to make Kills-in-Shadow, who is as psychotic and bloodthirsty as that name suggests, follow the Fatebinder loyally as long as they continue to demonstrate bloody merit.
• The Evil personality in Yandere Simulator will express delight in watching Yandere-chan/Ayano killing someone. While they won't rat her out, they won't talk to her anymore because they don't want to be labeled as an accomplice.

Visual Novels

• In Cafe Enchante, in Ignis's route, Dromi recounts an event in the past where he witnessed Ignis losing his sanity and mindlessly killing and eating every beast around him, enemy and ally alike in a gleeful, awe-struck tone. Not to mention their fanatical worship of the monstrous wolf Vanar, whom Ignis is the reincarnation of, who would devour Bestia and everyone living there. Other characters are disturbed by the former's reverence of such things.
• Shiki of Togainu no Chi gets quite excited whenever Akira puts up a fight and appears to get stronger.

Web Animation

• Helluva Boss: Demon hitman Moxxie is briefly shown in the pilot serenading with wife (and co-hitwoman) Millie with a cheerful, upbeat song describing the bloody carnage she inflicts in loving detail. A full version of the song, called "Oh Millie", was later made available on Valentine's Day.

• RWBY: Tyrian Callows, ex-serial killer turned Psycho Supporter and assassin, fanatically worships the Big Bad as his "goddess" specifically because she's a violent murderess bringing destruction and death to the Kingdoms of Remnant - and because she lets him do it, too. He's also the only subordinate aware that her real plan isn't to conquer Remnant, but to completely annihilate it - and he can't wait.

Webcomics

• In Archipelago, both the Luck brothers sprout lots of little hearts after seeing their respective love interests wipe the floor with ravens. Especially that Alice has Super-Strength and Cassie yells "GET OFF MY LAWN!" at the top of her lungs.
• Bort the mongrelman from Dominic Deegan swoons over the mongrelwoman as she slaughters a group of men who threw a net on her in "Escape from the Wild Edge". Odd in that Bort isn't the villain of the story.
• Girl Genius:
  • Bangladesh DuPree was instantly infatuated with Vole when he managed to pull a visionary rant of such boundless bloodthirsty anticipation that it impressed even her.
    • When she learns just who took down her base - single-handed, at that, she's positively ecstatic at the thought of how epic their fight will be.
  • Similarly, the mysterious Airman Higgs and Action Girl Princess Zeetha each fall in love with one another after witnessing the incredible damage that the other is capable of inflicting upon their enemies. It helps that the latter is a warrior princess raised to fight from birth and the former is a Jagermonster.
  • Agatha bites her lip and blushes when she hears that Gil threatened to melt England for her.
    Agatha: Oooh—do you think he would?
• Homestuck: Kanaya has just come back from the dead, kicked an Ax-Crazy psychopath off a cliff, decked Vriska so hard one of her pupils falls out of place, and chainsawed their murderer in half. Vriska's response?

• Level 1 Housewife: Non-villainous version. When Angrboda and her (future) husband are attacked by a gryphon, she violently carves it up. He finds it hot and proposes to her on the spot.
• In Marilith, Big Bad Valentino first becomes interested in the Hitman with a Heart Marilith after hearing about a particularly bloody job the latter performed. In fact, the body count was only so high because the job went wrong, and Marilith is nowhere near as Ax-Crazy as Valentino. Valentino takes this revelation... poorly.
• In Narbonic, Sociopathic Hero Mell Kelly exasperatedly asks Caliban the ex-demon why she still dates him. His response is to gaze deep into her eyes and tell her in a seductive tone it's because when she looks into his eyes she sees "the hosts of the damned, writhing and screaming in the forges of pain I stoked for untold centuries". Oh yeah...
  Caliban: All that time I spent as a goalkeeper of souls, it'd be a shame if I couldn't hold onto one.
• Belkar in The Order of the Stick had a very awed response to Haley shooting dozens of hobgoblins while sustaining virtually no damage.
• Schlock Mercenary: In the finale, Schlock transforms into a massive Eldritch Abomination and begins eating the otherwise unstoppable Pa'anuri army. The sheer terrifying carnage manages to make the virtual interface copy of Cindy in his fragsuit obsessed with Schlock permanently.
  Cindy: I believe I just experienced an emotion.
• Stalker x Stalker: Junko finds her boyfriend's violent possessiveness cute.
  • Yukio, for that matter, has no problems at all with Junko threatening him or others at knife point. Similarly, he thinks it's cute.

Web Original

• Grog of Critical Role watches Lady Kima turn a Torture Technician into mincemeat with a mace and falls hard and immediately.
• Discussed in the creator commentary for episode 34 Dragon Ball Z Abridged where Lani and Kaiser point out that Vegeta was definitely excided by Bulma's suggestion to skip the training to fight the androids and just kill the Mad Scientist making them in cold blood before they have a chance to finish building them.
• An episode of Super Power Beat Down pits Nathan Drake against Lara Croft. The two have a gunfight while trying to take possession of a priceless artifact. Ultimately, Lara Croft gets the artifact. As she makes her escape, Nathan Drake watches her go and mutters "I think I'm in love."
• An odd, mutual example occurs in Survival of the Fittest where Clio Gabriella and Maxwell Lombardi (two of the top killers) meet each other, and... start to become really fond of one another. It's implied that Clio felt like Maxwell was one of the few people to understand her actions, but it still has undertones of this trope on both sides.

Hellsing Ultimate Abridged

• That's right. Hellsing Ultimate Abridged is so offensively hardcore that it ended up needing to get a folder of its own. The original anime is already twisted in its own right, but the talents of Team Four Star push all of that to absurd levels with gore and Double Entendre galor. One of its lines is the page quote for a reason. Some examples include...
  • For Alucard, watching Police Girl (Seras Victoria) tear through zombies turns him on. He also looks forward to encounters with Father Anderson to the point where Anderson punching him in the face "recharges" him right after he's just finished... satisfying himself, and then there's his moment with the queen...
  • Father Anderson is a priest, but he clearly gets off on violence. He's every bit as gleeful over the prospect of fighting Alucard, to the point where a deliberate interruption is considered a "mood killer". He's also very much turned on at the fact that Integra was just about to charge head first into an impossible fight, leading to the page quote.
  • Jan Valentine is very eager to kill and rape Integra and the men she's meeting with, and the order in which the murder and rape occurs doesn't really matter to him. In fact, rape is very likely before and after the killing and after they become ghouls. He most clearly demonstrates this trope after watching Police Girl tearing apart his ghouls.
    Jan: Well, least I'm gonna die with a raging boner.
  • The Major loves war so much that felt he was "blue balled" by the Cold War and gets burning loins while watching London on fire. He's just as in love with Integra's carnage as Alucard and Anderson are as well and admits to fantasizing about her at night alone "with a bottle of Chardonnay".
    • Zorin Blitz was very much looking forward to storming the Hellsing Estate (orgasmically so), but gets into crazed frothing disappointment upon learning she is only recon, directly referring to this as being "cockblocked at the point of entry" when she decides to disregard the Major's orders and attack the estate anyway.
  • And of course, the aforementioned Queen.
    Queen "Betty": Your skin is still as smooth as the day I felt it on my own.
    Alucard: You know it. Reminds me of when I'd keep your bed warm during the Blitz.
    Queen "Betty": Those were better days. I was younger, beautiful...

• In Adventure Time, Finn becomes... very excited when he sees Flame Princess beat up the Ice King, has vivid dreams about it, and tries to manipulate circumstances to recreate the event.
• In one episode of Batman: The Animated Series, the Joker had finally pushed Harley over the edge, prompting her to point a weapon at him and pull the trigger, but to their surprise, it turns out to be a "Bang!" Flag Gun. But because Harley had still been willing to kill him, the Joker gives her a sincere smile and says "Baby, you're the greatest!", followed by the two of them embracing.
• Danny Phantom: In a similar vein, Vlad enjoys taunting Danny about their supposed similarities (about how he's becoming more like Vlad with every battle) and he appears extremely satisfied and entertained whenever fighting Danny.
• Drawn Together pretty much shines a light on this trope in "Spelling Applebee's", where Princess Clara uses Captain Hero to create car crashes so she can get off on the resulting carnage. Subverted somewhat when Hero causes a crash which kills Clara's best friends.
• On The Fairly OddParents!, Mark, an alien for whom Bad Is Good and Good Is Bad, falls for Vicky because of the terror she instills in Timmy, Chester, and AJ.
• Family Guy: After Lois does some fighting moves, we cut to Quagmire naked in his house and watching from his open window stating "That was strangely arousing." The window then falls on his penis and gets stuck. He calls 911 and reports "Yeah, it's in a window this time."
• Generator Rex: Van Kleiss is this in regards to Rex.
• In OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes, Big Bad Lord Boxman — who is often regarded by the show's other villains as a complete loser — is desperate to gain the favor (for one reason or another) of fellow villain Professor Venomous. Venomous is initially uninterested... but then he starts to return Boxman's affections when he sees Boxman completely lose his inhibitions and deliver a Curb-Stomp Battle against the heroes. As the two villains grow closer together over the series, Venomous admits that he's dissatisfied with the mundane, bureaucratic nature of his criminal enterprise, and Boxman's unique brand of theatrics and mindless carnage are much more fun.
• The Simpsons: In a parody story of Bonnie and Clyde, Homer (Clyde) thinks to himself, "Violence must be her turn-on! Well, there are probably others, but I'm too lazy to try and figure it out..."
• Star Trek: Lower Decks:
  • "Temporal Edict": Played With. Mariner is visibly turned on by Ransom's combat prowess during his Trial by Combat, but she is also turned on by his continued upholding of Starfleet ideals while doing this.
    Ransom: I demand a peaceful negotiation! (punch) I respect your sovereignty! (punch)
    Mariner: Mmmm... so ethical.
  • Jennifer is shown happily cheering on her girlfriend Mariner phaser all of her (Jennifer's) pretentious friends into unconsciousness. Given that Andorians have a history as warriors, it would make sense that violence would be a turn on for her.
• Steven Universe: Major antagonist Jasper has some sketchy moments with Broken Bird Lapis Lazuli through the series, but their post-fusion reunion sees Jasper call Lapis a terrifying monster for keeping them both in a forced fusion for months on end against Jasper's wishes...and then grab Lapis' hand, drop to her knees, and beg Lapis to fuse and be Malachite with her again. Fusion in the series is the personification of a relationship, and Lapis used Malachite to subjugate Jasper, the physically strongest and most dangerous Gem we've encountered so far, to her will, in the name of protecting Steven from her.
• In Teen Titans (2003), when Slade has Robin as his apprentice, he watches Robin beat up the rest of the Titans and says that it's "thrilling." He even rewinds the tape a couple times. Make of that what you will. He's also... "very impressed" to learn Raven is the daughter of the king of demons destined to bring said demon to Earth and cause The End of the World as We Know It. The episode ends with Slade chasing her down and ripping her clothes, but surely that doesn't mean anything...
• Total Drama:
  • In World Tour, Courtney remains the only ex-contestant rooting for Alejandro because he was single-handedly responsible for eliminating almost everyone in that season (the exceptions are Izzy, Gwen, and Sierra), calling him "the best player this game has seen". To drive the point home, Courtney is seen smiling widely after Alejandro eliminates Cody by throwing him into shark-infested waters; everyone else (except Tyler, who was unconscious at the time) looks disgusted.
  • Rare heroic example in Pahkitew Island. Shawn and Jasmine get together at the end of "Hurl and Go Seek," but she spends most of the following episode questioning that decision, given his loose grasp of reality. Then they're confronted by an army of robot Chrises, which puts Shawn into a Berserker Rage that ends with him panting, covered in oil "blood stains" and surrounded by dismembered robot bodies.
    Jasmine: (in Confession Cam) There comes a time in every girl's life when she has to stop whining about her boyfriend's zombie obsession and accept that she has odd taste in men. This is that time.
• In Villainous, this is the reason behind Demencia's crush on Black Hat. She gushes about how evil he is and his complete lack of reciprocation doesn't deter her in the slightest; creator Alan Ituriel has said that she loves him in the same way a teenage girl loves a boy band.

Real Life

• Hybristophilia, or "Bonnie & Clyde Syndrome", is the attraction to people who commit serious or gruesome crimes. It's common for male high profile serial killers and mass shooters to receive hundreds or thousands of love letters from women sometimes referred to as "prison groupies".
