IC (Identity Codes) Numbers are codes used by the British police to describe a person's apparent ethnicity.
The codes are:
- IC1- White European
- IC2- Dark European (e.g. Latino)
- IC3- Afro-Caribbean
- IC4- Asian (South Asian)
- IC5- Oriental (East Asian)
- IC6- Arab/North African
- IC7 or 0- Unknown
Used in many a
Police Procedural, especially
The Bill.
- Now rarely used outside London, where its continued unofficial use was explained to this Troper, by a Non-Met copper, as the Met trying to be too Hollywood and US TV. Officially the English words are supposed to be used.
