Hollywood is a section of Los Angeles, bounded by the Hollywood Hills to the north, the Beverly Hills city line to the west, Hoover Street to the east and to the south by a line through somewhere between Fountain Avenue and Beverly Boulevard depending on where you are (the farther east you go, the farther south Hollywood expands). This includes West Hollywoodnote and East Hollywood, but not North Hollywood which is in The Valley and there is no "South Hollywood".
More broadly, the term "Hollywood" is used as a metonym for the U.S. entertainment industry since the early 20th century.
