The trope is being renamed, as discussed in this TRS thread.

An UndeadHorseTrope: Straight motivational posters are still in use in schools, offices, and some gyms (and prisons), but the parodies and subversions far outweigh straight uses everywhere else. Therefore, it's a classic example of the WeirdAlEffect. Even when media does use straight Motivational Posters, it's almost always as an ironic counterpoint to some soul-crushing environment where the poster is hanging.

Thus, the FauxtivationalPoster was born in response. It takes diverse forms, all united in their use of the poster medium to play with the Motivational Poster. Some posters present a straightforward lesson, but exaggerate the Glurge to nonsensical levels. Others preach a patently ridiculous (or just particularly cynical) lesson. Still others use the Motivational Poster format to make a humorous statement about a completely different subject.

The other wizards aren't sure what this means, or even if it's supposed to mean anything at all.

* During the Webcomic/SkinHorse storyline "Mixed-Up Files", when Sweetheart was undercover as a mad scientist captured by the Institute, the Institute gave her a motivational poster saying "Sanity - It's not a journey, its a destination". She spent the entire first night staring at it, obsessing over the missing apostrophe, until they replaced it with one where the first apostrophe was missing. And then both. It eventually turned out the whole situation was designed to make her snap, and this was just the first step.

* The tabletop gaming community has a collective fondness for demotivational posters borne out of the BlackHumor often inherent in the genre. Popular subjects to lampoon include common mistakes, player quirks, the dreaded GM, and the odd situations one often finds oneself in over the course of a campaign.

Now you can use the content of the posters here, just not the format. If an image is good (either from the poster itself or from another source), it can be a page image, just not with the black border. And the text on the black border just needs to be used on the caption instead of the picture. Some of our page pictures have come from posters this way.
