A character being barefoot is not a trope on its own. You may be looking for one of the following:

  • Barefoot Captives: Prisoners, slaves, and people taken/held against their will have their shoes taken away from them.
  • Barefoot Cartoon Animal: An anthropomorphic animal who goes barefoot, but is otherwise fully-dressed.
  • Barefoot Loon: A lack of footwear used to indicate that someone is quirky, crazy, or out of touch with reality.
  • Barefoot Poverty: Characters shown barefoot as a signifier of poverty, since they cannot afford shoes.
  • Barefoot Sage: A sage or other wise character who's barefoot, usually due to religious asceticism, connection to nature, or mentor eccentricity.
  • Earthy Barefoot Character: Characters lives in rural, tribal or even coastal environments where going barefoot is common in the culture. They are typically closer to nature, but they don’t have any magic or special abilities. That falls under the next trope.
  • Magical Barefooter: A magical character such as an wizard, elf, a fairy etc. is likely to go barefoot. They might also be close to nature in a way like Green Thumb.
  • Martial Artists Are Always Barefoot: Martial artists are often portrayed as being habitually barefoot even in non-combat situations.
  • Prefers Going Barefoot: Usually human character who goes barefoot, but also lives in a situation where they can very easily get shoes if they wish, and the surrounding culture wears shoes.
  • Surefooted Barefooter: A character goes barefoot for better agility.
  • Undead Barefooter: Ghosts, zombies, and other members of the undead who are unshod as an indication there's something unusual about them.
