Originally founded by
Desi Arnaz and
Lucille Ball to produce
I Love Lucy, the studio fell on hard times after Lucy and Desi divorced, and was the only studio willing to take the risk to produce
Gene Roddenberry's
Star Trek: The Original Series (probably figuring it had little to lose). Bought out and absorbed by Paramount during
Trek's original production run. Their other productions included
Mission: Impossible,
Mannix and
The Untouchables.
