->''"Bunnies aren't just cute like everybody supposes\\
They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses\\
And what's with all the carrots?\\
What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?!\\
Bunnies! Bunnies! It must be bunnies!"''

This index is for tropes related to rabbits and hares. While rabbits and hares are different animals in RealLife, in fiction they are often treated similarly, and are sometimes regarded as one and the same.

Specific examples from works should be listed on the respective trope page. See Wiki/TheOtherWiki for a [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_hares_and_rabbits list of fictional rabbits and hares]] and ''The House Rabbit Society'' for another list of [[http://www.rabbit.org/fun/famousrabbits.html fictional and real famous rabbits.]] See also FearsomeCrittersOfAmericanFolklore for jackalopes.

Not to be confused with PlotBunny, BridgeBunny, BunnyEarsLawyer, DownTheRabbitHole, GymBunny, KillerRabbit, CallARabbitASmeerp or CallASmeerpARabbit.

!!Rabbit and Hare Tropes

* BunniesForCuteness: Rabbits are used to add cuteness to a work or to associate a character with cuteness.
* EasterBunny: A legendary figure who delivers candy and eggs to people on Easter.
* HairRaisingHare: Rabbits depicted as dangerous, evil or horrifying, as a deliberate subversion of the association between bunnies and cuteness or goodness.
* LuckyRabbitsFoot: Rabbits are considered lucky, and rabbits' feet are used as good luck charms.
* MoonRabbit: In some mythologies, rabbits are associated with the moon.
* PlayboyBunny: Sexy bunny outfits.
* PullARabbitOutOfMyHat: One of the stock stage magic tricks. The magician takes off his hat, reaches in, and pulls out a rabbit. In fiction, Rabbits who exist as part of magic acts tend to ''live'' in the hat, and may also have magical properties of their own.
* RascallyRabbit: Rabbits in mythology such as B'rer Rabbit have almost always been {{t|heTrickster}}ricksters. This has carried over with some modern fictional rabbits, such as WesternAnimation/BugsBunny.
* RighteousRabbit: Rabbits tend to be depicted as friendly, nice or good, and are often heroic.
* WhiteBunny: Rabbits in fiction tend to be white. This usually indicates innocence or a severe lack thereof.

!!Tropes also associated with rabbits, but not exclusive to them:

* EasternZodiac: Rabbits are one of the animals of the EasternZodiac.
* ExplosiveBreeder: Rabbits reproduce at a fast rate, and rabbit characters often have a large number of siblings and offspring. More risque depictions may also show them as a LoveableSexManiac.
* GoodWithNumbers: Because of their high fertility rates, rabbits are sometimes depicted as being [[IncrediblyLamePun good at mathematical multiplication]] and/or the Fibonacci sequence.
* WoodlandCreatures: Rabbits are a common part of many standard woodland creature groups, including DisneyCreaturesOfTheFarce.
* StockAnimalDiet: Usually associated with carrots, even though carrots are not a normal or natural part of a rabbit's diet (and really aren't good for them).
