A trope which is not only limited to or originated in animated shows, but to
Anime. Note, however, that by the early 21st century, anime has had such an influence upon American animation that some of these tropes have begun to appear in American productions. Some of those are universal, but they are very characteristic to anime in general. Some are examples of parallel evolution.
