** In ''ComicBook/PaperinikNewAdventures'' various alien races can easily speak English, though only in three cases it's {{Justified|Trope}}:
** The [[PlanetLooters Evronians]] have kept Earth under surveillance for millennia before deciding it was worth invading, and [[AliensStealCable have intercepted our broadcasts ever since they started]].
** The pair of Grilkian military officers that appear in the series are asked about their ability to do this. They reply that their military academy teaches all the languages they're expected to need to know (also hinting at [[CrazyPrepared an extreme level of preparedness]], as Grilk only started operating on Earth very recently).
** Upon losing their homeworld to the Evronians, one of the Xerbian excape ships decide to come to Earth as they had surveilled the planet long enough to know that, with their warlike nature, humans would have a better chance at defending themselves if properly armed, and learned Earth languages in the process.

** The Tz'oook from ''Threat from the Infinite'' explictely have their own language, something that stumps the Junior Woodchucks' ability to interpretate the data from the data sphere and the computer they managed to steal early on. This example doesn't fit the trope, since there's nothing strange in English being used as a common language today

* Formula One automobile racing involves participants from many nations who speak many languages, and is broadcast to many countries in their native tongues. However English is the ''de facto'' language of the sport, and during races all communications are in English, likely to prevent teams from requiring a gaggle of translators to listen to their opponents messages (the communications are not private). So you'll often hear, for example, an Italian engineer speaking to a German driver in English, which is regularly added to the TV broadcasts.
** Ditto with the UsefulNotes/WorldRallyChampionship, which sees people from Europe and elsewhere participating in the sport. This calls for mastering at least some command of English, like for example Takamoto Katsuta who first started off in rallying barely speaking a word of English, and when UsefulNotes/OttTanak began his world championship career, having to learn through the language especially when he signed up for UK-based Ford M-Sport.
