This is what happens when fans want the actors who play certain characters on a show to get together because their on- (and sometimes off-) screen chemistry just makes them look so gosh-darn cute. If someone actually has the gall to suggest this to an actor personally, expect an irritated IAmNotSpock response to follow.

There are generally three kinds of real-person shippers: the ones who know that it's all just fiction and ship it for fun/because it's hot, the ones who think there really is some UnresolvedSexualTension to be had but know that it most likely won't ever get resolved (and proceed to ship it for fun/because it's hot), and the ones who truly believe that the people in question are copulating like bunnies when the cameras are off. A fan of the latter type is known derogatorily in some circles as a "Tinhat" and can often be recognised by their conspiracy theories about evil PR people/network execs/whatever forcing the two actors to keep their relationship a secret. Note that the fact one or both partners may be in a relationship or even married to other people, or perhaps are even of different sexual orientations to one another is irrelevant. In the case of co-stars (particularly those acting out romantic or implied-romanctic or UST-related storylines with each other), actor shipping is often a reflection of how well they're doing their jobs as actors, so [[TropesAreTools not all tropes are bad]] in that case.

In either case, sometimes these ships will [[RomanceOnTheSet actually set sail]]. Cue delighted {{Squee}}, and maybe an IKnewIt.

Can be part of a RealPersonFic.

RomanceOnTheSet is when this happens for real. See RealLifeRelative if the actors are already romantically involved.

[[folder: Anime And Manga ]]
* There was enough shipping of Creator/QuintonFlynn with Jeff Nimoy that the two decided to [[HaveIMentionedIAmHeterosexualToday rebuke it]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slCJ8np1cB0 in the form of a duet]]. Said song has since become [[MemeticMutation quite popular]] around the convention circuit.
* Back when [[ScheduleSlip it was taking forever]] for the tenth and eleventh ''LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya'' novels to come out, a parody fanfic was written in which the author, Tanigawa Nagaru (a man), and the illustrator, Ito Noizi (a woman), [[TheyFightCrime saved the world]] and, of course, were shipped together.
* Fans ship Creator/VicMignogna and Creator/CaitlinGlass. They have played couples on shows like ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'' and are good friends; however, Caitlin is married and Vic is engaged, plus he's old enough to be her father. That doesn't stop the fans from squeeing and asking them to kiss when they show up at conventions.
* A huge shipping fanbase (among both Japanese and English fans) for Creator/YoshitsuguMatsuoka and Creator/AiKayano developed after this [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7wehF0YAf8 skit/Q&A session.]] Other skits such as [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVR-QkgQY1s this one]] pour more fuel on the fire.
* Very common in Franchise/LoveLive as a result of having an idol group of 9 voice actresses acting very friendly with each other every time on camera.

[[folder: Film ]]
* Creator/KristenStewart and Creator/RobertPattinson from the ''Literature/{{Twilight}}'' {{film}} series were subject to this, though there may actually be precedent for it. Rumor has it that Pattinson only auditioned for the role of Edward Cullen in the first place so he'd have an excuse to hit on Stewart. This plan backfired once ''Literature/{{Twilight}}'' fans [[CelebrityIsOverrated recognized him in public]].
** For a LesYay example, many fans have started {{shipping}} Kristen Stewart with Nikki Reed after seeing [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CYEnLPa3Yw&feature=related various]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pXaEtKZqzA videos]] of [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LawPEoNljFM them kissing each other]]
** It's safe to say that Pattinson and Stewart were officially together, though in an interesting turn of events, she ended up having a relationship with the director of another film she worked on. It's unlikely that there was any pre-shipping of that relationship, though.
* ''Film/{{Titanic 1997}}'' fans continue to ship Creator/LeonardoDiCaprio and Creator/KateWinslet, even though Leo's been with various other women since and until Kate had been married with two children. Of course, Kate professing her 13-year love for Leo ''THEN'' thanking her husband during the 2007 Golden Globes before the audience, Leo giving her a ring with a secret inscription carved inside as a present, and Kate's failing marriage with director Creator/SamMendes after shooting ''Film/RevolutionaryRoad'' with Leo does NOT help matters.
* Creator/RyanGosling and Creator/RachelMcAdams, who dated (and were briefly engaged) after they did ''Film/TheNotebook''.
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zx2wmWpaDEM This moment]] from the 2005 MTV Movie Awards ensured that people will '''never''' stop {{shipping}} them!
* Certain people in the ''Film/HarryPotter'' {{fandom}} ship Creator/DanielRadcliffe and Creator/EmmaWatson.
** Even more fans ship Emma and Tom Felton ("Feltson"), to the point of absolutely hating Tom's girlfriend. The biggest tinhats are convinced she's an evil bitch who, for example, dragged Tom from an awards show where he was presenting with Emma because she was jealous. Emma has admitted to having a crush on Tom when they were much younger, which may contribute to the matter. This has also been speculated by WordOfGod to be why there are so ridiculously many Draco[=/=]Hermione fanfics, even though the actual chemistry between the two, on set and in the books, is...debatable, to say the least.
** Many fans films ship Matthew Lewis and Evanna Lynch (Neville and Luna, respectively), on the basis of them being very close friends and also being adorable.
** Dan and Tom are also a fairly popular pairing, what with their adorable friendship and all. They are both apparently quite aware of this.
* Tobey Maguire confirmed that there was ''some'' of this chemistry between him and Kirsten Dunst on the ''Film/SpiderManTrilogy'' set. He's married (to someone else) since.
* ''Film/TheAmazingSpiderManSeries'' had Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone being shipped by the press as well. At the time, they were dating.
* Creator/ZacEfron and Music/VanessaHudgens from ''Film/HighSchoolMusical''. That one actually sailed strong for five years until their breakup in December 2010.
* Because their chemistry was so natural in ''Film/{{Casablanca}}'', Creator/HumphreyBogart's then-wife was certain he was having an affair with Creator/IngridBergman. As the story goes, however, the two only met once off the set to have lunch and discuss their issues with the script (both were unhappy with the "unrealistic dialogue").
** Later, [[Creator/HumphreyBogart Bogart]] actually did fall in love with and marry his frequent costar Creator/LaurenBacall. Their chemistry was so potent that studio execs recut ''Film/TheBigSleep'' to include more scenes of them together. They stayed together until the end of his life.
* Shipping Creator/WilliamMoseley and Creator/AnnaPopplewell from ''Literature/TheChroniclesOfNarnia'' is one way some fans get around the BrotherSisterIncest problem of {{shipping}} their characters.
** The same could be applied for Creator/SkandarKeynes and Creator/GeorgieHenley (commonly known as [[PortmanteauCoupleName Skangie]]), who play Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, a pairing whose number of fans increased dramatically since [[Film/TheVoyageOfTheDawnTreader the third movie]] and [[http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lgqdkqgZ4E1qgnixfo1_500.jpg their growth spurts]].
*** It's made worse with the fact that it's implied ''[[CastIncest Georgie actually had a crush on Skandar]]'' in their earlier years, especially in the ''Georgie Loves Skandar'' audio commentary.
** There's some Skandar/Anna fans out there as well...
** Skandar/William, Skandar/Ben, and William/Ben all get [[BoysLove shipped as well]]. Definitely helped by the fact that they are all {{Bishonen}}s, especially with their make up on and their [[HoYay chemistry on screen being so wonderful]].
** Also, Ben Barnes/Anna Popplewell and Ben Barnes/Georgie Henley.
* Creator/ChrisPine and Creator/ZacharyQuinto of ''Film/StarTrek''.
** Certain interviewers appear to ship Creator/ZacharyQuinto and Creator/ZoeSaldana, too.
* Creator/RobertDowneyJr and Jude Law, as of ''Film/SherlockHolmes2009'' and [[Film/SherlockHolmesAGameOfShadows its sequel]]. Like Pine and Quinto above, their interactions during interviews really do not help matters.
* Brad and Angelina. That ship set sail since 5 years ago and so far has produced 5 little boats.
* A VocalMinority of ''Film/TheLordOfTheRings'' fans were (and in some cases, still are) ''very'' passionate about their belief that Elijah Wood and Dominic Monaghan were/are in a committed romantic relationship that the movie studio and publicists forced them to hide by taking on fake girlfriends--these fans' detractors were the ones to coin the term "tinhat" for this phenomenon. Less prolific but just as passionate were those who believed that Viggo Mortensen and Orlando Bloom were in an identical situation.
** Dom and Billy Boyd, being wonderful friends, also had their share of shippers... and still have, in spite of still being very close friends. They even have a portmanteau.
** According to a (dwindling) [[GuyOnGuyIsHot subset]] of Bloom's fans, he has had a torrid affair with just about every male co-star he has ever appeared with. Not surprisingly, his female co-stars haven't enjoyed the same speculation with the exception of Kirsten Dunst. Even the tabloid media jumped on the "Blunst" bandwagon.
** Not to mention the Sean Bean and Viggo Mortensen shippers, who are still apparently going extremely strong. Never mind that Bean is notoriously heterosexual and married (and divorced) for the fourth time recently...
* An astonishing number of people seem to ship [[Film/MammaMia Pierce Brosnan and Meryl Streep]], even though they are ''both'' happily married (to Keely Shaye-Smith and Don Gummer, respectively) and have been for quite some time. On the other hand, they quite obviously adore each other, and Pierce once referred to [[Creator/MerylStreep Meryl]] as "that gorgeous blonde I had a terrible crush on in drama school"...
* ''Film/TheATeam'': Creator/LiamNeeson/Bradley Cooper, Bradley Cooper/Sharlto Copley, and Sharlto Copley/"Rampage" Jackson. Like the ''Film/SherlockHolmes2009'' and ''Film/StarTrek'' examples above, the fact that they all act adorably buddy-buddy in interviews and the fact that Sharlto and Rampage basically became HeterosexualLifePartners during filming only encourage this thinking.
* Creator/SimonPegg and Creator/NickFrost are HeterosexualLifePartners in real life, which, combined with the HoYay in [[Film/ShaunOfTheDead all of]] [[Film/HotFuzz their]] [[Film/{{Paul}} films]], makes them easy prey for this trope.
* Creator/AndrewGarfield and Creator/JesseEisenberg from ''Film/TheSocialNetwork''. The amount of character bleed from their [[SlashFic characters]] and Andrew's proclamation of love for Jesse in [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCHDsMLniO8&feature=player_embedded this interview]] did not help.
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsd8QQfeMB4&feature=player_embedded Giggling, whispering and possible under-the-table activity]] only solidified suspicions of their heterosexuality
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBx5ZpA6xJg The lift]] from the 2011 Golden Globes.
* Just ''days'' after ''Film/{{Thor}}'' was released, people started prompting Chris Hemsworth/Tom Hiddleston on the KinkMeme and that ship is still gaining momentum. (Never mind that Chris is married. To a woman.)
* Creator/MichaelFassbender and Creator/JamesMcAvoy, who played Magneto and Professor X respectively in ''Film/XMenFirstClass''. The latter is especially enthusiastic, and this has earned him the title of "The Captain of Our Ship" on Tumblr. While doing interviews promoting the film, the actors sang to each other and talked about how [[https://youtu.be/I7u1kb4TMo4?t=5m27s they would fly all over the world spreading love to the hapless populace if they had super powers.]] James' tendency to talk about how their characters should have had sex and gotten married did not help one bit.
** [=McAvoy=] has even made up ship names of his own ([[https://vimeo.com/84781468#t=4m25s "[=BoyVander=]", "[=McAbender=]" and suggesting the already widely-used "[=FassAvoy=]"]]) and [[https://youtu.be/bIG9kVSREqc?t=3m25s claims to have had sex with Fassbender FOUR times.]] When the interviewer asks him if Fassbender is a tender lover, he hilariously replies that he's "left to take care of [himself] after." [=McAvoy=] also frequently acknowledges the [[https://youtu.be/ZP4ryVYGH_s?t=2m49s "sexy" quality to Fassbender's portrayal of Magneto;]] [[https://youtu.be/zoNkz4gb6Xc?t=7m20s in one infamous interview,]] he amends "not that I'm drawn to that," and Michael jumps in with "a little bit," and James agrees "a little bit, on Tuesdays." Cut to the Tumblr fangirls celebrating every single Tuesday with zesty vigor. [[InsistentTerminology It's "[=McFassy=]."]]
** [[https://youtu.be/8yL6Ja-E11A?t=0m34s Let's not forget this little gem.]]
--->'''Interviewer''': Extraordinary chemistry between you and Michael [Fassbender]. Can you talk a little about how you developed that onscreen?
--->'''James [=McAvoy=]''': We had sex every morning, and that helped make the chemistry!
** Fassbender was ready to take it to the next level. Creator/DannyBoyle had revealed in his commentary for ''Film/SteveJobs'' that before Fassbender had left ''Film/{{Trance}}'' due to scheduling conflicts, the actor (who was supposed to portray Franck) was pushing for the character of Elizabeth to be gender-flipped so that he could play the role instead. [=McAvoy=] was already cast as Simon, and [[spoiler:Elizabeth and Simon had previously been involved in a therapist/patient affair]], so that means Fassbender wanted one of the central relationships to be a [[spoiler:homosexual one, and he was willing to film sex scenes with [=McAvoy=]]]. Oh, WhatCouldHaveBeen...
* The original Professor X and Magneto, Sir Creator/PatrickStewart and Sir Creator/IanMcKellen, have their shippers too, as the two are friends in real life, have appeared on stage together, and, of course, Ian [=McKellen=] is actually gay.
* And speaking of Creator/JamesMcAvoy, he appears to be something of a slash whore because the ''Film/VictorFrankenstein'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9shlBuTkiU0 SDCC panel]] was full of dirty jokes between himself and Creator/DanielRadcliffe. [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything [=McAvoy=] infamously pinned Radcliffe against the wall]] after the host requested that they re-enact a homoerotic scene from the movie. The latter at one point declared, "And a thousand slash fics were born!"
** The actors' ship name is Radavoy, and this is confirmed by James (with Daniel's approval) in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoBqx0kqML8&feature=youtu.be&t=4m24s this interview.]] They both [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbOwmwTaidg&feature=youtu.be&t=0m13s demand that shippers write more erotic fanfics about them.]]
** Daniel has something of a man crush on his co-star because he reveals in [[http://41.media.tumblr.com/67430931e4a54946a4b7e73b3312a9e7/tumblr_nv8sh2QwMi1qmequho3_1280.jpg this ''Total Film'' article]] that he likes being beaten by [=McAvoy=]:
--->'''Radcliffe''': I've enjoyed all aspects of working with [James], but the physical side is one that really sets him apart from a lot of people. He has thrown me around in this film. Pretty much our first day was him repeatedly slamming me against a pillar, so that set the tone. I like to think that I've been the most willing victim he's ever had as an onscreen partner.
* ''Film/{{The Avengers|2012}}'' is certainly gaining steam with its cast.
** One stand-out would be Creator/JeremyRenner (ComicBook/{{Hawkeye}}) with Creator/ScarlettJohansson (ComicBook/BlackWidow), certainly aided by the fact the two are close friends IRL and that their interviews together can seem [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCcE2XCFOII especially flirty]]. Renner [[https://twitter.com/Renner4Real/status/597218933385592833 sending a Happy Mothr's Day wish to her on Twitter]] with the hashtag #sweetscarlet didn't help any matters.
** There's also [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QpBsLzXwp8 Robert Downey, Jr. and Mark Ruffalo]].
* Creator/JosephGordonLevitt and Creator/ZooeyDeschanel from ''Film/FiveHundredDaysOfSummer'', so very very much. Fans will not stop about how good their onscreen chemistry was, they did a ukelele duet for a [=YouTube=] video and Creator/EllenDeGeneres has told Gordon-Levitt that he and Deschanel would make a good couple. However, Deschanel was engaged to musician Ben Gibbard at the time of filming, though they have since married and divorced.
** According to someone in the know, they actually did briefly date a long time ago. Gordon-Levitt seems to be pretty quiet about his romantic relationships, though, so you won't find it in the news. And anyway, he currently has a girlfriend.
* Creator/JenniferLawrence and Josh Hutcherson got their own fanbase after playing [[StarCrossedLovers Katniss and Peeta]] in ''Film/TheHungerGames''. During filming of ''Catching Fire'', the second film in the series, another shipper base grew around Hutcherson and Sam Claflin, who plays Finnick Odair. Fuel was added to that fire when Claflin talked in an interview about the scene where [[spoiler:Finnick gives Peeta CPR]] and said "My mouth touching his was a beautiful moment. It'll live with me for the rest of my life. We're meant to be together." Nor did it help when Jennifer Lawrence commented on the bromance and called it "annoying".
** Ever since working together in ''Film/SilverLiningsPlaybook'', ''Serena'' and ''Film/AmericanHustle'', some fans would ship Jennifer Lawrence with Bradley Cooper. Never mind that Bradley's old enough to be her dad.
** Lawrence and Hutcherson seem to enjoy [[ShipTeasing teasing their shippers]] a whole lot. They constantly talk about how close they are, reference being in each other's bedrooms at all hours of the night watching movies, Lawrence repeatedly mentioning how she broke down crying when she read the script for "''Mockingjay Part 1''" ([[spoiler:because Hutcherson is barely in it]]), talking up their "special kind of platonic love" and so forth. [[LikeBrotherAndSister Their relationship seems more sibling like than anything else]], with a strong dose of PlatonicLifePartners.
** Meanwhile, fewer fans seems to ship Jennifer Lawrence with her real-life boyfriend, Nicholas Hoult, whom she met while filming ''Film/XMenFirstClass'' (notable also considering how much people ship Fassbender/[=McAvoy=] from the same film).
*** Now that Lawrence and Hoult have split Hutcherson was even asked by a reporter if he was the reason why. He vehemently denied it and seemed (quite understandably) very irritated by the question.
* Fans of ''Film/PitchPerfect'' rabidly ship Creator/AnnaKendrick and Creator/BrittanySnow due to the LesYay between Beca and Chloe. It doesn't help that Anna admitted in an interview that filming the shower scene between Beca and Chloe took so long that she's ''memorized'' Brittany's body.
* Ever since ''Film/LesMiserables2012'', some fans would ship Creator/HughJackman and Creator/RussellCrowe since these two happen to be best friends in real life not to mention, their [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y59M0nPO2EA blatant]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX0GTM0vROw display]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlYVHOUa3Vo of bromance]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFP-GrynCe8 in public]].
* There are some people who ship Creator/RiverPhoenix and Creator/KeanuReeves, who were both close friends and co-stars on ''Film/MyOwnPrivateIdaho'' (where Phoenix's character was [[IncompatibleOrientation in love with Reeves']]), even though [[AuthorExistenceFailure Phoenix has been dead since 1993]].
* Creator/FredAstaire and Creator/GingerRogers were prone to this (and in some cases, still are long after their deaths), due to the ten musicals they starred in together (not helpful in that Ginger is often the only woman remembered as Fred's dance partner). Shippers of the time constantly wrote letters into gossip magazines about how much they wanted the two of them to be together and/or even kiss (however, Fred and Ginger did have one kiss scene a movie). Ironically, the two of them ''had'' dated years before they were famous movie stars but continued to be friends for the rest of their lives.
* ''Film/{{Wonder Woman}}'s'' Creator/GalGadot and Creator/ChrisPine get this a lot due to an almost ''unbearably'' adorable [[https://giphy.com/gifs/chris-pine-gal-gadot-longing-3og0IMVr5foNWRXQbe look]] she gave him during an interview.

[[folder: Literature ]]
* Many mutual fans, based on video, blog and pictorial evidence of the two hanging out together, had shipped story-teller Creator/NeilGaiman and musician Music/AmandaPalmer before they [[IKnewIt officially]] came out as a couple.

[[folder: Live-Action Television ]]
* ''Series/TheOfficeUS''
** Stars John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer have said in interviews that they would sometimes encounter excited fans exclaiming "Oh my god! You got married in real life?" when they had lunch together. To their dismay, each is happily married with children to other people, who were sometimes present for these encounters.
** From the same series, Mindy Kaling (Kelly Kapoor) and BJ Novak (Ryan Howard) are a combination of this and RomanceOnTheSet--they dated in the very early years of the show before it got big (it helped that they were primarily show writers rather than actors) before breaking up, but remain such close, bizarrely romantic friends that they probably have more shippers than they did while playing Ryan and Kelly.
* ''Series/GameOfThrones'': Many avid Renly Baratheon/Loras Tyrell fans ship Gethin Anthony and Finn Jones together. Both actors fuel the HoYay with [[http://oi41.tinypic.com/2u7vypl.jpg public displays]] [[http://31.media.tumblr.com/0d2235ece80f8679a20d1284da709e2b/tumblr_miufrtW3Py1qe8co6o1_1280.jpg of affection]], by jokingly admitting that they're gay for each other in this [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBZqr7CVvCw interview clip]], and Finn had some... interesting comments in the Feb. 2013 issue ''Gay Times'' magazine which make some people strongly suspect that he has a ''serious'' [[EvenTheGuysWantHim man crush on his co-star]].
-->'''GT''': Did you have to go a few times for that scene [in Season 2]?
-->'''Finn Jones''': "Oh all the time, I remember," he howls with laughter. "One point in the scene we were really getting into it, and I just turned around to him and I went 'Gethin in the next take,' dead seriously,' '''really grab my dick this time, really go for it.''' ' And then just out of the corner of my eye, I saw the camera guys going..." he pulls a concerned face. "I realised 'Oh shit, maybe we're going for it a bit too much.' " He cracks up laughing again. "But it's good, it's good to be on that level to be able to really get into the moment."
** Gethin's [[https://twitter.com/Gethin_Anthony/status/285416006141222914 Twitter response]] to another section of Finn's GT interview is absolutely precious!
-->'''GT''': Naturally we have to ask how good a kisser Gethin is.
-->'''Finn Jones''': "I've got to say that I don't dig beards that much, I think without the beard he'd be a nine out of ten? But with the beard... I've got quite a soft face, and it can kind of give you a bit of chafage, but I would say, no disrespect Gethin, but if you lost the beard a nine, with the beard probably a five."
** The 2013 Ring Con event provided shippers with [[http://youtube.com/watch?v=-F7iLV_dIKg Gethin revealing that he bit Finn's nipple]] while they were filming the Season 2 kissing scene, [[http://media.tumblr.com/e3e86837a26f8ec691408b57e8744ec7/tumblr_inline_muxcchZM3l1r32ctl.gif Gethin touching Finn's bare]] [[http://31.media.tumblr.com/bd810e34aae3e53ff25777759487747d/tumblr_muzju3EnYw1qk4br1o1_1280.jpg chest]], [[https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=630428553675411&set=a.630428283675438.1073741829.486391421412459 comfort hugging]], [[http://25.media.tumblr.com/5232246788c3f624ad48e4c13ceb72f9/tumblr_muz2ifo0XP1qa4g2yo1_500.png Finn placing his posterior right next to Gethin's side]], [[http://25.media.tumblr.com/0308952494d6a2fbad39f145941cea97/tumblr_mv323qu2FV1ryln5vo8_250.gif Gethin playing with Finn's "tail"]] (Finn was dressed up as a "unicroc" for the closing ceremony), and [[http://vimeo.com/77438741 Finn kissing Gethin on the mouth for about 3 seconds, plus Gethin holding Finn in his arms]]. A FreudianSlip may have taken place at the [[https://vimeo.com/77431078 beginning of this video]] when Finn (who is supposed to be playing Loras in this scene) addresses the character as "Gethin" instead of "Renly"; he doesn't notice the error until Gethin points it out.
** Similarly, Creator/NatalieDormer and Creator/SophieTurner, the actresses for Margaery Tyrell and Sansa Stark respectively, are often shipped together and for very good reasons, most of which listed [[http://natallie-dormer.tumblr.com/post/99340278321/ok-but-can-we-talk-about-sophies-massive-girl-crush-on here]].
*** Sophie affectionately caressed Natalie's face at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con Game of Thrones panel. At the 2015 New York Comic-Con panel, Natalie mentioned missing Sophie (who was not present).
** Creator/SophieTurner and Creator/MaisieWilliams sometimes post photos with the hashtag #Mophie. Sophie even once [[http://lifeisabook.altervista.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/sophie-turner-maisie-williams.jpg groped Maisie's breast for a photo]]. They also exchange tweets like [[https://twitter.com/SophieT/status/614934751724572672 this]].
* In ''Series/{{Smallville}}'', there is apparently enough Allison Mack/Tom Welling ([[FanPreferredCouple Chloe Sullivan / Clark Kent]]) ActorShipping for sites to make rules against it. Fans also {{Squee}}d a bit when Allison says she likes scenes with her [[CryIntoChest crying into Tom's chest]] because it is comfortable in the ''Truth'' commentary.
** However, in a later interview Allison was quick to maintain that while Tom and her know each other very well, they are not personal friends outside work after some hurtful rumours about co-star Kristen Kreuk (Lana Lang) started spreading after Tom Welling got married.
** Allison, Allison, you need to stop saying things like this.
-->'''Allison Mack''': Sexiest person in the show? Oh my God, Tom Welling! I've had a crush on him since the Pilot! I've never seemed to get over it. (Comic Con 2009)
-->'''Allison Mack''': Yeah! Tom Welling is awesome. The only complaint that I have about Tom.. is that he is a man of steel. Like he's super dooper strong guy. Like he's a big you know... manly man. [...] Well, my head comes right up to his chest. And he's got a very strong chest. (noises frm the audience, so Allison turns to them, "Yeah, I know.")
-->'''Allison Mack''': [...] My heel caught on the end, and I went [[LiterallyFallingInLove toppling into Tom]]. He was like, 'Oh, are you a little drunk?' No, I'm just clumsy!
* It must be something about Clark Kent... In the show's heyday, there was a sizeable sub-set of ''Series/LoisAndClark'' fandom that shipped Creator/DeanCain[=/=]Creator/TeriHatcher (Clark and Lois, of course). This brought with it a strong streak of hate for Teri's then husband, Jon Tenney, even after he and Hatcher had a daughter.
** An element of surrealism was added to the mix when Tenney played a character in a 4-episode arc that included strong elements of a LoveDodecahedron. Tenney's character, Ching, was the bodyguard of Zara, [[spoiler:the betrothed wife-to-be of Clark/Superman, courtesy of an arranged marriage that he knew nothing about, fully intending to marry Lois]]. Ching loved Zara, who loved him in return, despite him being a lowly guard; regardless, they both felt it was their duty for her [[spoiler:to marry Clark, who loved Lois]]. So Tenney's character was preventing Cain's character and Hatcher's character from marrying, in addition to Tenney being married to Hatcher; cue much cursing and outpourings of Tenney-hate on various forums.
** Similarly, there was a lot of flak directed towards Mindy [=McCready=] when she became engaged to Cain while the show was on the air, and to Samantha Torres when she and Cain had a son in 2000.
* ''Series/{{Friends}}'': Matthew Perry/Courtney Cox have a pretty big fanbase due to their chemistry and close friendship. The shipping wasn't as prevalent during the actual show as Courtney was HappilyMarried to David Arquette, but after the couple split up 'Matteney' fans grew exponentially, regularly fueled by Cox guest starring on Perry's show, photos of them snuggling during breaks, their habit of crashing each others interviews (in Courtney's case to ''kiss'' Matthew on stage) and Matthew throwing around comments like "I just wanted to make her laugh all the time" and "she's a very beautiful woman" and making sexual jokes about their relationship: "would Courtney be the bike?" and even a skit on Ellen joking that they're a couple.
* There is a not-insignificant subset of fans who ship Creator/WilliamShatner with Creator/LeonardNimoy. This is not surprising, considering that the [[Series/StarTrekTheOriginalSeries characters they played]] ''launched SlashFic as a concept''.
* ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer'' has [[PortmanteauCoupleName "Sariza"]], short for Sarah Michelle Gellar and Eliza Dushku who play Buffy and Faith respectively. Given the amount of pure tension (and some UnresolvedSexualTension too) the characters have to each other it's no wonder. Doesn't help that Eliza Dushku admits to liking [[LesYay Buffy/Faith]]. Ohh, let's not forget those suspicious videos and Sarah jumping on Eliza on set "just to lighten up the mood".
* Creator/AnnaPaquin, who plays Sookie Stackhouse, is married to Stephen Moyer, who plays Vampire Bill Compton on ''Series/TrueBlood''.
* ''Series/{{Skins}}'' has this big time. Some 90% (conservative estimate) of [[PortmanteauCoupleName Naomily]] shippers are also Lily Loveless/Kathryn Prescott shippers (and [=LilyKat=] know it and ShipTease to hell and back), and the actors playing Effy and Cook briefly dated. The [=LilyKat=] tinhats even have a neat RealitySubtext to play with; [[spoiler:Naomi's AnguishedDeclarationOfLove in the S4 finale included the statement that it took her three years to be able to speak to Emily after [[LoveAtFirstSight she first saw her]], which ties in with the fact that Lily and Kat first met at an acting class three years before they joined the show...]] Lily and Kathryn have stated many times that they did not speak to each other while in the acting class (despite each having lead roles) because they were shy and didn't think they'd have anything in common ...
* In ''Series/{{Heroes}}'' fandom, nobody thinks anything of 'shipping the hell out of Milo Ventimiglia/Hayden Panettiere (who did date in real life for a while), Milo Ventimiglia/Kristen Bell, Milo Ventimiglia/Adrian Pasdar, Zachary Quinto/Hayden Panettiere, Zachary Quinto/Milo Ventimiglia, Zachary Quinto/Sendhil Ramamurthy, Zachary Quinto/Dania Ramirez and Zachary Quinto/Kristen Bell. Let's face it, the fandom ships the entire main cast in some way or another. Zachary Quinto has been described as having chemistry with anyone and everyone, so combined with the above mentions of Zoe Saldana and Creator/ChrisPine, he's a RealLife LauncherOfAThousandShips.
* ''Series/AustinAndAlly'' has its main actors, Creator/RossLynch and Creator/LauraMarano, aka "[[PortmanteauCoupleName Raura]]". Just like Austin and Ally being shipped together, lots of their fans ship them so much, even some wishing they'd date already. Same with Calum Worthy and Raini Rodriguez, but not to a big scale like Raura does.
* Both main shipping sects in ''Series/{{iCarly}}'', Creddie ([[JustFriends Carly/Freddie]]) and Seddie ([[SlapSlapKiss Sam/Freddie]]), like pairing up Miranda Cosgrove/Nathan Kress ([[PortmanteauCoupleName Niranda]]) and Jennette [=McCurdy=]/Nathan Kress ([[PortmanteauCoupleName Jathan]]) respectively. The Jathan side of things got so heated by people constantly tweeting the pair about being in love or dating or being best friends that eventually Nathan stopped following Jennette and specifically mentioned his real girlfriend was his best friend, Jennette told the world her worst pet peeve was dating rumours, and made it clear that the two of them are only friends, and nothing more. More rare, but some people like [[LesYay Jeanette and Miranda]]. Jennette/Jerry Trainor (who plays Spencer), shows up pretty regularly in the various KinkMeme communities the show has.
* ''Series/{{Victorious}}'', an iCarly sister show, has this. The main pairing is Elizabeth Gillies and Ariana Grande, due to their extremely close friendship stretched back over a decade and more despite being only teenagers, and the fact they keep doing things like photographing the other sleeping next to them in the same bed and posting the pictures online.
* Many fans of ''Series/TheVampireDiaries'' ship Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev in real life, both due to their chemistry onscreen as Damon and Elena, and due to their obviously close friendship offscreen. Later confirmed to be more than a "close friendship". The same happens for Steven [=McQueen=] and Malese Jow, the actors for Jeremy and Anna.
* ''Series/DoctorWho'''s Creator/DavidTennant and Creator/BilliePiper are a popular subject for the same reasons as above. Freely declaring their love for each other in public, kissing during the credits of their "Doomsday" commentary, and mentioning each other randomly in interviews even when not talking about DW doesn't help...despite the fact that both are now married with children to different partners.
** Similarly, Creator/MattSmith and Creator/KarenGillan's chemistry on and off screen has many fans pairing them.
*** Fans of the pairing have claimed the 'secretly married' tag on tumblr. The tag is full of mostly posts of the two of them, sprinkled very rarely with other couples.
** And then there is David Tennant[=/=]Creator/JohnSimm. Who were spotted partying together just after Tennant had broken up with Creator/SophiaMyles, and quite a few events after that. It really doesn't help that they were talking about their own Doctor/Master spinoff on ''The End of Time'' commentaries.
** After Creator/AlexKingston's infamous, "Oooh, I could just kiss you all night!" and Creator/MattSmith's response of "And I you, Ms Kingston!" on the last-ever episode of ''Series/DoctorWhoConfidential'' (for "The Wedding of River Song"), Matt/Alex exploded as a pairing.
** Despite the two actors insisting their relationship was more brother-sister, Creator/MattSmith and Creator/JennaColeman were a popular fan pairing.
** Despite a 25-year age difference, the off-screen chemistry between Creator/PeterCapaldi and Creator/JennaColeman was so strong, with both openly admitting their friendship for one another and the two often seen hugging and gazing adoringly at each other at public events, stirred the flames of speculation as to whether they might be a real life couple (with the ship name "Colepaldi" coined). In truth this isn't the case; Capaldi has been married for 25 years and has a daughter, and Coleman was involved in a long-term relationship with Creator/RichardMadden when she wasn't captured by paparazzi hanging out with the likes of Prince Harry. The two simply became very close and dear friends (as verified by directors, the show runner and fellow actors), who tended to spend every moment of free time together on set. Coleman probably didn't help matters any when she created the often-repeated soundbite "I love Peter Capaldi" during the 2015 San Diego Comic Con panel when she paid tribute to her co-star.
** Although there was very little of this in the pre-Internet era of the show, fans in the late 1970s did notice that the chemistry between Creator/TomBaker and Lalla Ward was particularly strong. In this case, the shipping was justified as it was eventually confirmed that not only were Baker and Ward dating, they married soon after Ward's final episode was recorded.
* Very common in ''Series/{{Supernatural}}'' RealPersonFic; the relevant nickname is "J2" or J-Squared. This is the common ship name for Creator/JaredPadalecki and Creator/JensenAckles. This is because, in the earliest seasons, it was impossible to make an InUniverse ship of any durability that had neither {{Original Character}}s nor incest. J2 or Jared/Jensen appears to be the most [[FanPreferredCouple popular ship]] within Supernatural fandom.
** The shipping for J2 heated up even more than before because Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki lived together for quite a while and the whole cast tends to be very...tactile in interviews/con appearances etc. A small but highly visible minority of the J2 fans have, unfortunately, taken over from ''Film/TheLordOfTheRings'' Domlijah fans as the most notorious example of a real-person-slash fandom convincing themselves that the people involved are genuinely dating and thinking that it's gay rights activism to try to bully them out of the "closet".
** Other ships or pairings include Jensen/Misha (Cockles), Jared/Misha (Mishalecki), Jared/Richard, Jensen/JDM, Jared/Jensen/Misha... You get the picture?
* ''Series/WizardsOfWaverlyPlace'' fans who ship [[IncestSubtext Jalex]] (Justin/Alex) have the tendency to ship Delena (David Henrie/Selena Gomez).
** In fact, Selena Gomez admitted she had a crush on her [[CastIncest on-screen brother]], David Henrie.
** It was even mentioned at one point that they casually date together, but they don't want to get further than that, due to some UnfortunateImplications their [[BrotherSisterIncest characters from the show would get involved in]].
* ''Series/{{Glee}}'' is rife with this. There's the popular pairing of Creator/KevinMcHale and Jenna Ushkowitz ([[PortmanteauCoupleName McHalowitz]]), there's the potentially "canon" pairing of Mark Salling and Creator/NayaRivera, there's Creator/CoryMonteith and Creator/LeaMichele shippers, there's people who think Naya Rivera and Creator/HeatherMorris ([[PortmanteauCoupleName HeYa]]) are as close as their characters... And then there's Creator/ChrisColfer, who may qualify as the Glee RPF fandom's LauncherOfAThousandShips, since there's maybe two male cast members he ''hasn't'' been paired with. And his on-screen dad is not one of them. Then there's the fact that Ryan Murphy has allegedly banned sex in the cast's trailers, suggesting that there's been sex ''to'' ban... Sorry, ''Glee'' cast, but it's not our fault you're twelve ridiculously attractive young people.
** Two male co-stars Chris ''hasn't'' been paired with? I can't think of ''one''. Creator/CoryMonteith, Mark Salling, Chord Overstreet, Kevin [=McHale=], Harry Shum Jr, Creator/DarrenCriss, Creator/MaxAdler, Matt Morrison, Creator/JonathanGroff, Creator/MikeOMalley...
** One of Chris Colfer's castmates has described him as [[http://www.gleefan.com/gleefan-exclusive-darren-criss-qa/ "like a magical creature."]] The fic wrote ''itself''. Incidentally, the castmate in question was Darren Criss - who plays Blaine, who has spent most of the show having almost indecent eyesex with Kurt in practically every episode. The fic wrote itself - several times over.
*** Too bad [[IncompatibleOrientation Darren is actually straight...]] not that that would stop the fangirls.
*** After [[spoiler:The Big Clinch in "Original Song", [[http://www.accesshollywood.com/paleyfest2011-glees-darren-criss-on-sharing-a-kiss-with-chris-colfer_video_1314563 Chris and Darren were asked]] about their kiss]]. Darren's response? "He doesn't go by numbers, he gets hieroglyphics!" and teased, "It takes two to tango!" DeadpanSnarker Chris was a bit less fanboyish (giving Darren a 10 out of 10, but himself a [[DeadpanSnarker 12]]), but had commented that "Damn, Darren! I need a cigarette now!" in [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxULpJu0UZM a separate interview]]. Also, Darren is quite obviously a Kurt/Blaine shipper.
*** Darren Criss LOVES to fuel the shippers. After spontaneously kissing a shocked Chris onstage during the Glee Live tour, he talked about how in that moment he was [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-VZMXnmZ4M "consumed with my love for Chris Colfer"]]. He [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-kkAJdlYAE later describes]] it as "fun" and says he "just couldn't help it". His costars jokingly say that if they got married, Colfer would become Chris Squared. Darren's reply? "It could happen. Never say never."
*** Darren is one of the most classic examples of CampStraight ever.
** The Monfer (Creator/CoryMonteith[=/=]Creator/ChrisColfer) ship really stands out even among the [[LauncherOfAThousandShips HUGE]] amounts of pairing that Chris launches.
** There are also a lot of people who ship Lea Michele with Jonathan Groff (even though the latter is gay) since their ''Theatre/SpringAwakening'' days. Hilariously, one of those people happens to be Lea's own father, who according to Lea has offered Jon "millions" to marry her. Lea often calls Jon the "love of her life" and, when asked by a fan at a Glee event when she and Jon were gonna get married, promptly responded "hopefully soon".
** Don't forget the Lea/Dianna shippers. They are ''hardcore.''
** [[Creator/DiannaAgron Dianna]] knows what people are thinking: "Everybody is convinced that Lea and I are in a relationship."
** And then, of course, there is Mark Salling and Chord Overstreet. Mark named them [[PortmanteauCoupleName Sallingstreet]]. Among several other suggestive tweets is co-star Kevin [=McHale=] saying they were "cute - it's like watching schoolgirls flirting". Chord claims "he [Mark] asked me out, but I turned him down. I like them clean-cut". Speaking of clean-cut, "[[PortmanteauCoupleName Colferstreet]]" is another popular couple. Then again, so is Chris/every male cast member.
** There are also Creator/MaxAdler and Creator/DarrenCriss, also known as [[PortManteauCoupleName Marren or Adiss]]. I'll let [[http://glee-fan.blogspot.com/2011/08/max-and-darren-look-friendly-at-glee.html this]] show ''one'' of the reasons why.
** Some fans refer to the boys on the show as Amber's Harem, referring to AmberRiley. Kevin [=McHale=] has professed numerous times his love for Amber (and his desire to see a little Mercedes/Artie action), which has led to [[PortmanteauCoupleName McRiley]].
** Other ship names: Kevin/Naya are [[PortmanteauCoupleName Keya]] or [[PortmanteauCoupleName McVera]] (the also call each other 'bee'); Kevin/Dianna [[PortmanteauCoupleName Kevanna]]; Lea/Dianna [[PortmanteauCoupleName Achele]]; Lea/Cory [[PortmanteauCoupleName Monchele]].
** Creator/HeatherMorris and Creator/NayaRivera started out as a "twoshot". Naya thinks meeting Heather was the work of fate. Doesn't help that when Naya Rivera had a Facebook, there was one very affectionate picture of the two laying on the couch, Heather on top of Naya. There are other, more suggestive pictures as well, interviews were they fawn over each other, jokingly saying "we make out all the time", ass slaps exchanged throughout Glee Concert, Naya Rivera wanting Santana to get Brittany pregnant, the list of fuel goes on. Heather also thinks Naya "is a good kisser" way before "Heart" aired...
*** The Brittany/Santana couple started because fans began speculating on their relationship on and off scene. In other words, "Heya" invented "Brittana", not the other way around.
** Kevin [=McHale=] and Grant Gustin also get this a lot, due to their constant tweets declaring their love for each other. What makes it better is that what kind of love is ambiguous (or as ambiguous as Grant describing his and Kevin's relationship as "true love" in a tweet).
* There's a small sect of people who ship Mary [=McDonnell=] and Edward James Olmos, purely based on the immense amount of chemistry they had in ''Series/{{Battlestar Galactica|2003}}''. Olmos has said that if [=McDonnell=] wasn't married, they would be married to each other. Take that as you will.
* Oddly enough, some ''Series/LawAndOrderSpecialVictimsUnit'' fans think that Elliot and Olivia's ''actors'' have more chemistry than their ''characters''. But they are the E/O tinhats.
** ''ODDLY''? It's not tinhattery when Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay [[http://chrismeloni.net/p/news/86.jpg go to the Emmys together]], [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDxH_-PFlCk make out at the drop of a hat during photo shoots]], and generally act like teenagers on the set together. And it's also possible to ship Chris/Mariska and ''not'' Elliot/Olivia.
* Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick, playing the ''Series/GossipGirl'' couple [[SuperCouple Blair and Chuck]], get a lot of this. Their shippers call them DeLeightEd.
** Ironically, Blake Lively and Penn Badgely did not get so much of this, even though they played the season one alpha couple Serena and Dan and the actors were living together in real life.
** Leighton and Blake are also shipped; they're known as Bleighton.
* Creator/NoelFielding and his HeterosexualLifePartner Julian Barrat get a ludicrous amount of this, probably due to them being Very touchy feely with each other and the fact that the characters for which they are best known (Howard and Vince from ''Series/TheMightyBoosh'') have a ''crazy'' amount of UnresolvedSexualTension between them.
* ''Series/{{JAG}}'': There was/is a lot of shipping among fans, often in the form of {{fanfiction}}, to different degrees with the two leads: Harm and Mac (or in some cases even the actors).
* ''Series/TheATeam'': Dirk Benedict/Dwight Schultz. Face/Murdock is already a hugely popular pairing in the fandom, but these two love to play up the HoYay aspects of their friendship during interviews--just in the past few years, ''[[DecemberDecemberRomance when they are in their 60s]]''. They seem to get a huge kick out of it.
* Most of the characters from Creator/{{the BBC}} ''Series/{{Merlin|2008}}'' series, but particularly Colin Morgan (Merlin) and Bradley James (Arthur).
** In fact, Bradley's shipped with ''all'' his co-stars. Among the fanbase there is much speculation, interest, insistence, rivalry and (naturally) [[ShipToShipCombat shipping wars]] concerning whether he's dating Creator/KatieMcGrath, Creator/ColinMorgan, Creator/AngelCoulby, or all three. This is not helped at all by the actors themselves, who obviously adore the guy, and are constantly hugging, tickling, teasing, heckling, play-fighting, or [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2edllM1sysw sitting on his lap during roller-coaster rides]].
** Not to mention Bradley's quite large affection for Colin, as he films Colin the most from all his co-stars, teases him and likes to act like a show-off in front of him. He also says he views him as tiny and fragile, in spite of the fact that Colin is only two years younger than him. In one interview he even says Colin is his favorite co-star and that a little piece of his heart goes to him.
*** In fact, Bradley appears to be more attached to Colin than vice-versa (well, this could be more obvious in Bradley's case because Colin is more introverted), as Bradley himself declares he always goes to Colin during breaks from shooting scenes, because he likes to '[[InnocentInnuendo play with Colin]]'. At one point he even suggested they will gro*** In fact, Bradley appears to be more attached to Colin than vice-versa (well, this could be more obvious in Bradley's case because Colin is more introverted), as Bradley himself declares he always goes to Colin during breaks from shooting scenes, because he likes to '[[InnocentInnuendo play with Colin]]'. At one point he even suggested they will grow old together.
*** He seems to have moved on a little bit, and is currently besotted with his Knights of the Round Table, admitting to a man-crush on Tom Hopper (Percival) and blowing a kiss to Santiago Cabrera (Lancelot) after Katie mentioned that they and Guinevere had a "great love story."
** Mackhopp (Eoin Macken/Tom Hopper) seems to be getting quite popular amongst ''Merlin'' fans, especially the Perwaine (Percival/Gwaine) fans. Their conversations on twitter and pictures which have spread on tumblr have fuelled the ship.
*** Eoin Macken/Alex Vlahos has also leapt in popularity courtesy of Twitter.
* Craig Horner and Bridget Regan, the two leads from ''Series/{{Legend of the Seeker}}'', were heavily shipped, probably because of their general adorableness in their joint interviews.
** Bridget is now married with a kid, crushing the dreams of their shippers everywhere.
* ''Series/{{Castle}}'' fans seem to really ship Creator/NathanFillion and Stana Katic together to the point of calling it [[PortmanteauCoupleName "Stanathan."]] It really didn't help that when Stana was asked in so many words whether [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43vawm8-Mz0 she makes out with Nathan behind the set]], she more or less [[ShipTease evaded the question...]] It should be noted Fillion already has a girlfriend, and in recent months it appears Katic has become rather interested in Mark Polish, her costar in the 2011 indie movie "For Lovers Only." Mark Polish has a wife and son, though, so it's unlikely that pairing will happen, and there's not much evidence to suggest that Stana's interest in him was anything but professional. She's much more lively and playful when being interviewed jointly with Nathan as opposed to her "strictly business" demeanor with Mark.
** One would think this would have ended in 2016 when Katic's well-publicized leaving the show revealed stories of how she and Fillion hadn't gotten along on set for years. However, some insist that this is proof of how they had a relationship but it ended badly to create this wedge.
* ''Series/{{Firefly}}'':
** There are some Browncoats (FanCommunityNickname) who ship Nathan Fillion and Morena Baccarin. Their characters Mal and Inara had a lot of UnresolvedSexualTension.
** Some ''Firefly'' fans ship Sean Maher and Creator/JewelStaite. They enjoyed WillTheyOrWontThey and finally, TheyDo in the movie ''Film/{{Serenity}}''. The Actor Shipping ensues despite several obstacles: 1. She was married and is straight, and 2. He is gay and has a family with his significant other. Not that a thing like that can stop fans from shipping them. Not that they aren't helping things by [[https://twitter.com/#!/JewelStaite/status/168565133478604800/photo/1 teasing the fandom]] at times.
* There continues to be a strong following of the BBC program ''Series/{{Sherlock}}'' who ship the leading actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman (Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson, respectively). Both of them making appearances in ''Film/{{The Hobbit}}'' added fuel to the fire.
** There was an interview in The Guardian in which Benedict said that Martin is helping him pick out his clothes.
** There's no denying the fact that during the filming of the first season of ''Sherlock'', Benedict broke up with his girlfriend of over ''ten'' years, Olivia Poulet.
** And let's not forget the 2011 BAFTA Awards ceremony, in which the two of them rather excessively gushed all over each other - in separate interviews, no less. Martin thanked Benedict in his acceptance speech, while Benedict in his own interview said he and Martin adore each other and then very awkwardly rushed to point out that said adoration was completely platonic.
** To many, Benedict's apparent distress with any gay rumors makes him AmbiguouslyGay.
** In his recent MTV interview, Benedict spent an excessive amount of time to gush over Martin - again. He remarked how great was to hang out with him on the set of ''The Hobbit'' and how brilliant Martin will be as Bilbo. Nothing especially shippy, you'll say -- but the interview is quite short and Martin is practically all Benedict talks about.
** Martin has said in an interview that they would have no problem kissing on screen.
* ''Series/{{Farscape}}'' and ''Series/StargateSG1''[='=]s Ben Browder and Creator/ClaudiaBlack, who are good friends in real life, have the onscreen chemistry of several nuclear warheads - [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwW71sIimXQ see this fanvid,]] or any of a hundred others, for proof - and who reportedly [[MakeOutKids practiced their kissing scenes]] on set so often their fellow cast and crew didn't even notice after awhile, but who are both happily married and not to each other. Browder has been married to actress Francesca Buller (who herself played guest stars in episodes of all four seasons of ''Farscape'') since 1989, and Black got married right before the shooting of the ''Peacekeeper Wars'' miniseries. This has not stopped the shippers whatsoever.
* Many {{Soap Opera}} fans did this to their {{Super Couple}}s in their heyday. And sometimes the actors themselves [[RomanceOnTheSet take the initiative]]: ''Series/GeneralHospital'''s second super couple, Frisco Jones and Felicia Cummings, married on-screen in 1986. Their actors, Jack Wagner and Kristina Crump, married in 1993.
* Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny of ''Series/TheXFiles'' fame got shipping treatment a lot. Hell, they were still getting it a decade after the end of the show. It happened in 2012 that Ms Anderson had broken up with her long-term boyfriend, and Mr Duchovny's marriage to Téa Leoni had been over as well. Many a rumour spread again, despite the fact that one of them lives in Great Britain and the other in the States. In addition, fan-cut videos involving their characters, but also their real-life appearances, are very popular, and comments like "How those two never ended up together I'll never know" or "Thumb up if you think Gillian and David ever did it" abound. Needless to say, their chemistry on the show was legendary.
** In late 2013, they did a joint Reddit AMA--where their 'proof' picture is the two of them lying on a hotel bed. Twenty years after ''The X-Files'' first aired, and still going strong.
** On winter 2015/2016, promotion of the new X-Files season gave a huge boost to this shipping, with many pictures and interviews showing their renewed complicity. It even gave them their own {{PortmanteauCoupleName}}, ''Gillovny''.
* ''Series/DowntonAbbey'' has Hugh Bonneville and Elizabeth [=McGovern=], who play the Earl and Countess of Grantham and practically ship themselves. It's the third time in their careers that they've played husband and wife. Tumblr went crazy over this particular ship.
-->'''Interviewer''': So do you stay married even though he loses the money?
-->'''Bonneville''': Yes.
-->'''[=McGovern=]''': Shh! We can't tell!
-->'''Bonneville''': Sorry! I thought you meant ''off'' set.
* ''Series/SleepyHollow'' has fans shipping leads Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie. The fact that they're so [[http://31.media.tumblr.com/92cf6339806049cb5d6ce5c3331f9d55/tumblr_mtidh8NyJL1r78eu7o1_500.png gosh darned cute together]] doesn't help.
* The ''Series/TeenWolf'' fandom is rife with this. The main couples seem to be Creator/DylanOBrien[=/=]Creator/TylerPosey, due to them being very close on and off screen, ridiculously in-sync during interviews and actually living together when they filmed Season 1 and 2. Dylan O'Brien/Tyler Hoechlin are also popular, due to them playing the fandom's most popular ship, Stiles/Derek.
* ''Series/AmericanHorrorStory'' has huge amounts of actor shipping, the most notable of these being Parmiga (Evan Peters and Taissa Farmiga) and Raulson (Lily Rabe and Creator/SarahPaulson). The former has mostly come about due to the pair's portrayal of Season 1's highly popular couple [[AxCrazy Tate Langdon]] and [[EmoTeen Violet Harmon]], as well as the fact that they played a couple once again in Season 3. [[LesYay Raulson]] was about even before American Horror Story started, and was present all throughout the first two seasons, finally coming to a head during Season 3 with their portrayals of [[CloudCuckooLander Misty Day]] and [[TheSmartGirl Cordelia Foxx]], who are an immensely popular ship.
* ''Series/FakingIt'' fans have Volkevens: Rita Volk and Katie Stevens, who play Amy and Karma (who the fans ship as Karmy). This despite the fact that Volk and Stevens appear to be straight in real life (Stevens even had a boyfriend, and Volk has been linked with Jamie Kennedy, whom she worked with in a ''Hunger Games'' parody). Their close friendship off the set feeds into the shipping, however.
* ''Series/{{Arrow}}'', the ship Olicity (Oliver/Felicity) came about after the chemistry was noticed between the two leads, Creator/StephenAmell and Creator/EmilyBettRickards. This has lend to fans shipping the couple as 'Stemily'.
* Many fans of ''Series/DoctorWho'' shipped Creator/TomBaker with Lalla Ward, on the basis of their considerable chemistry. They did indeed get married later. Sadly, it lasted for less than a year.
* ''Series/TheFlash2014'': Some fans have paired Creator/GrantGustin (Barry Allen) with Creator/CandicePatton (Iris West). It comes from the chemistry their characters have and how well they play their roles as a loving couple.

[[folder: Music]]
* Thanks to the music video for Music/WithinTemptation's song "Paradise (What About Us?)" people began shipping Sharon Del Adel and Music/TarjaTurunen (Sharja).
* Not really actors, but ''utaite''[[note]]Japanese cover artists, most famously of Music/{{Vocaloid}} songs[[/note]] fans enjoy shipping Pokota & Hanatan due to the beautiful love duets they often sing together, even though Hanatan is married to someone else in real life.
* ''Series/AmericanIdol'' had a [[https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/idolfanfiction/ rather impressive]] collection of {{Real Person Fic}}s (note: an account is needed to even read the forum), many of them romantic in nature. It doesn't seem to have anything past season 11, though... possibly because unlike the original producers, the current ones have no ban on RomanceOnTheSet, which led to the first season of the revival producing multiple couples.

* Russian soprano Anna Netrebko and Mexican tenor Rolando Villazón have been the subject of several rumors, due to their chemistry onstage and the fact that they're often cast together.
* Famous Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti had often performed together with fellow Italian soprano Mirella Freni, and it helps that they were childhood friends who grew up together in Italy. Not only have the two performed together, but they've recorded albums and done concerts together.

[[folder: Politics]]
* In the male-dominated world of politics, it comes as little surprise that the reasonably attractive UsefulNotes/SarahPalin has become a LauncherOfAThousandShips. She seems to end up most often with Mitt Romney and Joe Biden. Of course, she's married and has kids, but the whole enterprise was pretty tongue-in-cheek to begin with.
* The male political LauncherOfAThousandShips seems to be former Obama Chief of Staff and current Mayor of Chicago Rahm Emanuel. He gets shipped with fellow politicians like [[UsefulNotes/BarackObama Obama]] and Joe Biden, with pundits like Anderson Cooper and [[Series/TheDailyShow Jon Stewart]], and even with fictional characters.
* Speaking of punditslash, Cooper, Stewart, and [[Series/CountdownWithKeithOlbermann Keith Olbermann]] have been paired together and/or with their political allies or enemies (Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Bill O'Reilly).
* While covering the Euro debt crisis on ''Series/SaturdayNightLive''[='s=] "Weekend Update", Creator/SethMeyers tongue-in-cheekly declared himself a shipper for German chancellor Angela Merkel and French president Nicolas Sarkozy, dubbing it "Germance" (that is, [[PortmanteauCoupleName Germany and France]]): "How great is this pairing? They couldn't look more like a German woman and a French man if they were cartoons in a ''[[Franchise/TheAdventuresOfTintin Tintin]]'' book."
** SNL has done a few sketches portraying Merkel as a StalkerWithACrush on Barack Obama.

* Figure skating {{shipping}} and RPF has a huge, passionate and cut-throat {{fandom}}, especially big on the slash.
* Beach volleyball players aren't generally shipped, but three-time Olympic gold medalists and superstars of the sport Misty May and Kerri Walsh[[note]]credited in London as May-Treanor and Walsh Jennings, due to both getting married[[/note]] broke that mold just like they broke all the others. Over the course of three Olympiads, they became probably the most popular athletic femslash ship outside gymnastics. It helps that they are ridiculously affectionate with each other, openly state that while their athletic partnership may be over (thanks to Misty's retirement) their ''other'' [[HeterosexualLifePartners partnership]] most certainly is not, and cheerfully call said partnership a marriage. And the fact that both are married doesn't stop anything.
* Tennis fans have been having fun for years with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, who have been known to be on very good terms with each other, with Rafa especially occasionally fanboying his rival, and the Spanish media even officially proclaiming them "sports married." (When they have an argument in public, on the other hand, the media starts crying about a "rift."). The ''Guardian'' also briefly forayed into tennis shipping when Andy Murray, then split from his longtime girlfriend, and his fellow Brit Laura Robson first ventured into mixed doubles together, and were adorable at it, though things were hindered by Robson having barely turned 16, and it seems to have died down after Murray and his girlfriend reconciled.

* The {{Takarazuka}} fandom does a lot of this. Apparently wanting two actresses to get it on doesn't figure into said fandom's long, long list of things that are disrespectful, as long as you don't use vulgar language while you're at it.
* Due to being the original Glinda and Elphaba in ''Theatre/{{Wicked}}'', certain fans ship Chenzel, Creator/KristinChenoweth and Creator/IdinaMenzel. Despite the fact Idina is married with kids. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVgisIOJlcE This video]] (specifically when she kisses Kristin before her own husband, Creator/TayeDiggs...) doesn't help. They have their tons of LesYay, due to their close friendship.
* The cast of almost every modern ensemble musical gets a great deal of this, but American and its tour definitely stands out. In the original cast there's real life couple Leslie [=McDonel=] and Van Hughes, who are both on tour. The shipping isn't as crazy as in other fandoms, but there are definitely wild supporters of Alysha Umphress and Theo Stockman.
* Patti [=LuPone=] and Mandy Patinkin have been best friends since ''Music/{{Evita}}'', and have a show that they tour together. As a result, a lot of fans seem to ship them, despite the fact that they are both married.
* Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess - the Phantom and Christine Daaé for Theatre/ThePhantomoftheOpera and Theatre/LoveNeverDies - has a sizable fanbase. (Their portmanteau is Rierra.) Ramin is aware of the fandom and tweeted about it, and the shippers went crazy when the two of them dueted on the song Poison and Wine by The Civil Wars in Sierra's vlog. It is also apparently a requirement that they cameo in each other's Broadway.com vlogs and sing together. (Ramin appeared on both Daaé Days and Going Bridal, Sierra appeared in Vlogger 24601).

* [=RPFs=] such as Doug/Lindsay (which is usually a lot [[LighterAndSofter sweeter and fluffier]] than [[WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic Critic]][=/=][[WebVideo/TheNostalgiaChick Chick]], Lindsay/Nella and Noah/Lewis show up in the Website/ThatGuyWithTheGlasses KinkMeme from time to time. The people responsible are doing it [[JustForFun mostly for laughs]], though.
** Doug is the LauncherOfAThousandShips of the RPF portion of the fandom. As he's freely admitted to be TheTease, and owns the [[HoYay/ThatGuyWithTheGlasses hoyay]] page, it's considered acceptable though. Plus, like Liz below, his wife is a YaoiFangirl as well, and he's joked that the SlashFic has helped their marriage.
* Part of the reason WebVideo/IronLiz was accepted by the female TGWTG fandom is because she has admitted to reading (and enjoying) some of the fanfiction about her boyfriend and his fictional counterpart Linkara.
* Thanks to their tendency to jokingly play up their HoYay with one another, there is slash fic of LetsPlay/TheRunawayGuys (mostly [[LetsPlay/{{Chuggaaconroy}} Emile]][=/=][[LetsPlay/ProtonJon Jon]], though [[LetsPlay/JoshJepson Josh]] shows up once in a while). Like the Website/ThatGuyWithTheGlasses example above, though, it's mostly for fun. Since the guys do keep an eye on their fandom (and have thrown out a few {{Fandom Nod}}s here and there), most such works are prefaced with something like "[[IDoNotOwn I'm not implying they're dating in real life, and if you see this, Emile/Jon/Josh, please don't kill me]]."
* ''WebVideo/TheLizzieBennetDiaries'': Lizzy Bennet and Mr Darcy is a canonical paring, one of the most beloved in literature, and fans of the show embraced re-imagined Lizzie and Darcy. The leads appeared in many hang-outs and they did together several interviews. The imagination of avid fans ran wild in pairing Ashley Clements and Daniel Vincent Gordh, even though the two told them mildly that they didn't wish it. As if that ever stopped crazed fangirls and fanboys.
* Fans of ''Creator/RoosterTeeth'' ship Creator/GavinFree and [[CanadaEh Barbara]] [[PungeonMaster Dunkelman]] due to their chemistry. The two have frequently explained that they are not interested in each other and Gavin is dating Meg Turney, but that doesn't stop the fans.

[[folder:Western Animation]]
* With ''WesternAnimation/WildKratts'', it's Chris and Martin. Both with the surname Kratt. That is not an accident. Thanks to the PeripheryDemographic from the Kratts' [[Series/KrattsCreatures previous]] [[Series/{{Zoboomafoo}} shows]], [[RuleThirtyFour there is fanart.]] Delicious [[IncestIsRelative fanart.]] And fanfiction. Considering they're not just cartoon characters, could also count as a Real Life example.
* There are Greg Cipes / Tara Strong ([[WesternAnimation/TeenTitans Beast Boy/Raven]]) fans too. Neither does anything to quash the rumors, regularly posting selfies of themselves on Twitter. (Of course, Tara's married; but when has that stopped anybody?)
** There's also shipping of Greg Cipes and Ashley Johnson. Cipes even stated that Johnson is his cartoon girlfriend.
* In some ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' fan circles, there are those who ship Andrew Francis and Britt Mckillip (the voices of OfficialCouple Shining Armor and Princess Cadence respectively) together based on how good they seem to look together in some conventions.
