Keru: I actually followed the link under where we got linked... Lots of pictures of cute kittens. The one of the kitten passed out laying in its food bowl was priceless. (My incurable weakness for cute things is showing again...)

Fast Eddie: Aha! Ran across the earliest link to the site on BoingBoing  . March 11, 2004. We were about four days old, on a free URL, trying to run a Java wiki solution on an old 386. Yes, 386. Linked to by an A-list site. We upgraded hardware twice and changed the wiki solution all in the same night. Then did it all again three days later when a BBC site linked to us. Crazy times.

Deuxhero How exactly do we get inbound links from gamefaqs, they don't phrase links there? Fast Eddie: Not understanding your question. They link to us, we see the incoming hits. Not sure what "phrase links" is meant to mean. Deuxhero:phrased, as in the link can be clicked and followed, on gameFAQs, links need to be mannually copied to be followed. Fast Eddie: Ah! There are browser extensions that convert URL strings to links. That's probably where the hits come from. Deux Hero:So Linkification and the like count as inbound links? Interesting. |
