Working Title: Video Game Cruelty Potential: From YKTTW

Nornagest: The YKTTW notwithstanding, I think the later parts of the Grand Theft Auto series qualify. Kicking enemies to death, then continuing to kick their corpses to a bloody pulp; running people over repeatedly; killing one of your targets by burying his portable toilet in concrete; chewing up redneck farmers with a combine harvester for a satisfying shower of body parts. See what I'm getting at?

Cromage: After breaking this down into categories, I'm beginning to think this should be split up. All the shit you can do in Sim games/God games deserve their own trope.

• Over William: Seconded. We could even break up the different KINDS of God game cruelty (starvation, inferno, struck dead with lightning, etc).

Andrew: I won't delete this, but I'll admit that I find it more than a little disturbing:

This troper liked to spawn Barnacles in Garry's Mod and feed all sorts of NP Cs to them. There's just something hilarious about watching Alyx's pathetic corpse get pulled up to the ceiling by a long, dangling tongue and getting swallowed whole by a voracious alien...thing.

Nornagest: Cut —

* Devil May Cry: This is (kind of) the point of the game, as while playing (technically optional), there will be a 'Style' meter shown. It increases based on the variety of the combos you did and lowers from getting hit. At the end of missions you are judged based off how well you did in terms of the Style component, the time it took to finish the mission and how many orbs you found in it.

That has nothing to do with this.
