"* Ichigo and Rukia in Bleach, whose first argument appears in the theme song."
Bones:....I'd hate to break it to you, but...
"It's not friendship, but it's not an amorous feeling either. With these two's relationship, I think there is no other relationship like them in other works where despite both standing in a very close position with each other it is not romance."
...you don't get much more official than Word Of God, yo.
Gregory Hayes: This trope seems to have something of an identity crisis. Is it about the event? The type of Rumiko Takahashi Will They Or Wont They Jerk With A Heart Of Gold meets Tsundere relationship that inevitably leads to the event? Both? Khym Chanur: Does Ranma 1/2 really belong here? Ranma and Akane fighting never leads into a kiss. Drop Dead Gorgias: Is this close enough to Sudden Kiss to merge? Gus: There certainly isn't a lot separating them. These, and I Hate You I Hate You Lets Have Sex could all be rolled up, methinks. ... later ... the entry would look something like this: clipped out here, into the entry And I'd say Cut List I Hate You I Hate You Lets Have Sex Red Shoe: Seems to me that Slap Slap Kiss is a trope, whereas I Hate You I Hate You Lets Have Sex is a narrative device or character arc or something, but I'll agree that they're both aspects of the same thing. Also, in the Romance Arc, the whole thing something of a dual to the Meet Cute arc. Gus: If the draft works, it just needs a name. *bump* Drop Dead Gorgias: I think that Slap Slap Kiss is as pithy as we're going to get. Gus: Trigger? Pulled. Sci Vo: What's the reasoning behind this being directly under Tropes as well as indirectly through Kissing Tropes? or was that an accident of history? Lale: Probably because of timing; it existed long before the Kissing Tropes index. I was going to edit the article, but saw the bit about wanting to move discussion to the discussion page, so here I am. This is a "Real Life Example", of which there aren't too many in the article. A few years ago, this troper was working in PC support and found himself sitting next to a woman whom he hadn't met before but who needed his assistance. At one point he leaned over to use the keyboard, and his knee accidentally tapped hers. She responded in kind. He shoved his knee back just a little harder; so did she. Within a few second, both individuals were engaged in all-out leg wresting. It ended as quickly as it began, with both of them panting and staring deeply into each other's eyes, their faces mere inches apart. Meanwhile, the other seven or eight people in the room were staring slack-jawed. As it happened, both he and she were happily married (with kids in college, no less!), so things didn't progress, but this troper is convinced that in other circumstances they would have hastily retired to the nearest motel. As it is they are now good friends, and when together engage in the sort of banter that makes strangers think that they're a couple. |
