* Two men appear before a judge on a charge of drug trafficking. Rather than send then to prison, the judge decided to give them an alternative form of punishment: They must go out on the street and turn young people away from drugs. Both agree this is better than going to jail and return two weeks later [and so forth]
... because it's just a contextless joke, and doesn't really have anything to do with fiction tropes (unless it was a quote from a movie that was just missing the actual reference part).

grendelkhan: Added some references to No Escape, an incredibly depressing report on prison rape in the U.S.; if we're going to make statements about prison rape in the real world, we may as well be accurate about it.

dancecommander: Would it be bad taste to suggest Dropping The Soap as a possible namechange?

Gemmifer: I like it. Why not?

Nornagest: Speaking of dropping the soap, cut —

...for killing the rhythm.

Phartman: I'd suspect that if you did that, you'd just end up getting it in the mouth. Face it: if a 250-pound bruiser wants to make you his pincushion, and you're not packing a shiv, it's pretty much going to happen.

In a Kung Fu Panda Fan Fic, it is revealed that this fate happened to Tai Lung while he was in Chorh-Gom. Considering Vachir was voiced by Michael Clarke Duncan, with all that implies, it was a rather disappointing development. On the other hand, events from the film might make this conclusion not too difficult to leap to... The fact this implies homosexuality on the part of the rapists, and that it isn't clear which part (the act, or their orientation) is being disapproved of by the other characters, mars an otherwise excellent story. (It even includes Rape As Drama for an OC, in one of the rare 10% this editor has ever found where it was done well—although it does border on a Hurt Comfort Fic Woobie—mostly because it's a sadly accurate portrayal of how women in China were treated at that time.)

Gattsuru: If the fan fic mentioned is That's Why They Call It the Present, it's made pretty clear that the rape is the issue rather than the sexuality. The same author has an entire fic devoted to Ho Yay and Les Yay set in the same setting, and Vachir and his men get killed for condoning the act (Vachir is earlier stated to have not joined in). Still loads and loads of racial unfortunate implications, though.

Marluxia.Kyoshu: 'There's also a disturbing subspecies of the genre in which jokes are made that imply that gay characters will enjoy prison because they will be raped.' I'm gay and I would enjoy prison for that reason, does that mean I'm conforming to my stereotypes?

Helgatwb: In the Law and Order section, the first example is of a pre-operative(before the operation) transgendered woman(physically a man, mentally a woman). It is PC to refer to such an individual as "she", and has nothing to do with the trope or her experience in prison. That being said, I have heard of real-life instances of a transgendered woman recieving a sex-reassignment surgery in prison, and then being transferred to a women's facility(in New York, no less), so this episode didn't make any sense to begin with.
Ace Of Scarabs: As mentioned on the Stock Punishment page, getting stuck in the pillory used to pose a real danger to attractive of unpopular people. It's also been sighted as a popular part of the "Humiliation" part of BDSM fetish.
