Notable Websites (Index) launched as Other Sites: From YKTTW

HeartBurn Kid: OK if I add Inside Pulse? I'm not affiliated with them (other than haunting their forums), but they're one of the better known wrestling sites out there, and are broadening their focus to include TV, music, et. al.

Ununnilium: Don't see why not. `.`

HeartBurn Kid: Just didn't want to seem like I was shilling for them or anything; I spent some time editing on Wikipedia, and they have rules on that sort of thing. In fact, they have rules on every sort of thing. Took all the fun right out of it.

Gus: Yup. But you got to give them this: They are dull.

Looney Toons: Yet boring at the same time. It's a strange dichotomy.

Seven Seals: Of course, by the time we rack up 100 million edits to 1.5 million tropes, I'd imagine that more than one guideline has spontaneously come into existence... :-P

Oh, and do ignore all rules. That shouldn't work, but then again, wikis shouldn't work.

Gus: ...1.5 million tropes... Gah! There are about 4400 non-discussion entries now, which feels like a metric buttload of entries, sometimes. I am not sure... No. I am definitely sure we do not ever want to get that big. Good point, though, that a community that large needs/generates more constraints than we do.

Gus: I was going to do a whole riff here on the "tyranny of the masses" and "less is more", but I started choking on my own cliches. One topic, tropes. Never say die, never surrender, never be dull.

Never turn into Jingo Boy, like I just did.

Seven Seals: I will not say "do not utter cliches", for not all tropes are an evil. But how we grow is not for us to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the bandwidth that is given us.

Sorry, just finished watching RotK, so I'm in a mood.

Robert: Too late. The Rubicon was crossed the moment the first non TV trope was accepted. In a hundred years this site will cover everything from Albanian sitcoms to Zulu oral traditions. You Cant Fight Fate — but the future can look after itself :)

Gus (Moved your comment down, Robert, so I can snark about it.)

What have you got against Albanian Sitcoms? They are not all retreads of Zulu Oral Traditons!

TravisWells: It's only existed for a few hours (and I wrote it) so it doesn't feel right just jamming it into the list, but I think it needs mentioning somewhere. My shiny random trope thingy!. Basically the random button on five kinds of illegal steroids, You give it a theme and how many of each type of trope you want and it'll give you some tropes. It'd probably make a fun writing contest...

Janitor: Just astoundingly awesome, Travis. Excessively serious mash-fu! Love to see the code. Sidebar material.

Morgan Wick: We used to have a "story generator" that did basically the same thing, but it seems to be gone from the sidebar.

Umptyscope: Can we add www.jumptheshark.com ? Has every tv show and it's uncle.

Fast Eddie: Way we do things around here is to just add it, whatever it is. If someone has a problem with it, they will yank it over to discussion. BTW, Jumping The Shark already has a link. Didn't kill anybody there, won't kill anybody here.

Morgan Wick: Unless it kills someone here because it's already there and thus redundant.

Fast Eddie: Well if that kills somebody, we can think of it as evolution in action.

Willbyr: No page for Encyclopedia Dramatica yet?
