Hydro Globus: Am I the only one who feels that the KotOR example doesn't really belong?

Ununnilium: Agreed. It's an "aversion" in the sense that "it's nothing like the trope's context anyway, so it's no wonder they didn't use it". Pulling:

  • Complete aversion in Knights Of The Old Republic. In this case, you're jumping around the galaxy in search of the Star Maps, but the main villains do the same things regardless of what order you find them in. Plot events are driven by the number of maps you find. Instead of confronting the main villains over each Star Map, you have to deal with local enemies who are on their side.
    • Of course, in this case, the villains don't need to find the Star Maps for themselves at all. They already have the information they need. So it's more a case of the bad guys trying to track down the good guys while the good guys go on a Plot Coupon hunt, and less a race to see who can collect the coupons first.

Ununnilium:
  • This troper shall elaborate on the count for Mother 3...
Osohe Castle Needle: Pulled by the Masked Man prior to Lucas' arrival; Lucas learns the next needle's location thanks to a dropped communicator
Chimera Lab Needle: Pulled by Lucas without incident
Snowcap Mountain Needle: Pulled by MM just as Lucas arrives
Saturn Valley Needle: Pulled by Lucas after chasing off New Fassad
Tanetane Island Needle: Pulled by MM after Lucas' party clears the guardians aside (and said party in turn gets brutally zapped)
Argilia Valley Needle: Pulled by Lucas after busting MM and his accompanying cadre
New Pork City Needle: Pulled by Lucas after subduing MM and sealing Porky; end game.

Unnecessary detail that fills the page with spoilered text.
