Inside A Computer System Discussion
Pieguy259: There must be a better name for this.

((Christian)): This seems like a really confusingly thought-out trope

Sikon: How does The Matrix fit both definitions? Only the second one.

fleb: I wonder how old this page is. The distinction with Cyber Space is confusing.

Cut Neuromancer and Snow Crash. Both of those are Cyberspace.

akpookie: There's this movie from the 80s I saw once that was like this, and may be one of the originals, but I can't remember the name. The main character is a woman, and in the future society she lives in everybody spends the majority of their time jacked into the VR game system (no idea what they called it in the movie), but this one lady actually hates the system and one of the system admins is always trying to get her into it, or at least conform. Then she manages to escape from the city and finds a small society of other free-thinking rebels living in caves (if I remember correctly). The rebels hatch a plot to take down the city, but at the end the main character learns that everything she had experienced outside the city was actually in the VR system the whole time that the afore-mentioned admin tricked her into. Anyone know this movie? And I just realized it might be more Cyber Space than Inside A Computer System. I am a bit hazy on the difference though.
